1 Brake Disc Rotor problem

2000 Jeep Cherokee engine stopped without warning. ** answer required***. There was a hole in the piston. After the dealer inspected the vehicle, they stated there was not enough coolant in the system which caused the front frost plug heater to come out and that the no 1 and 2 piston melted down. The consumer had to replace the engine with only 42,000 miles on the vehicle. The rotors were replaced twice. The rubber around all four doors shrunk to the point that wind and water would come through. Periodically, when the vehicle was locked the headlights and taillights would come on and go off for a few minutes. The chrome on the wheels was corroded and coming off. The front passenger electric lock was making a strange noise when the doors were lock or unlocked.

Brakes malfunctioned both right and left rotors were scored and ruined on the inside only. The brakes failed at 33,809 miles. Looking through the wheel from the outside, the outside of the rotors looked good with no unusual wear. The vehicle also had air conditioning problems and needed to have the muffler replaced.

At speeds of 50 to 60 miles an hour while braking or if a bump is hit in the road, front tire vibration occurs and will only stop when speed is lowered to below 40 mph. After typing in "Jeep Cherokee front end vibration" on internet search did I find that this problem is present in all Cherokees. It seems that the problem stems from the brake calipers warping the rotors every 8-10 thousand miles. This is ridiculous and is a safety issue. This vibration moves the steering side to side violently.

When driving at an undetermined speed, the front end vibrated. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and the mechanic determined that the front rotors failed. The consumer stated that front rotors were replaced three times, every 15,000 miles. The consumer found three other vehicles of the same make/model experienced that same problem.

When pressing on the brake pedal at any speed vehicle vibrated from the front end. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, and mechanic I determined both front rotors failed. The consumer stated that front rotors were replaced over nine times, starting at 5,000 miles of owning the vehicle ,and currently the vehicle was at 36,202 miles. Consumer informed Chrysler on two occasions about this issue.

While applying the brakes vehicle shook and vibrated. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that brake pads and both front brake rotors needed to be replaced.

While applying the brakes pedal pulsated, and steering wheel shook. Driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic replaced the brake pads and both frontal rotors.

When driving and braking under any conditions brake pedal pulsates which results in extended stopping distance. Factory defective pads, calipers, and rotors caused excessive vibration, shudder and pulsation while braking. Chrysler issued a TSB with a replacement kit no better than the oem. Consumer was forced to order aftermarket brakes and pads to correct the problem. Consumer filed suit against Chrysler.

I had to replace my front rotors at 35,000 - Chrysler said it's normal wear and tear and wouldn't fix them. There was a problem with a seal on the gas tank. I brought it in for service at least 4 or 5 times before it was fixed. A $2. 00 wire broke inside the front door for the front speaker at 43,000 miles and they charged me $200. 00 to fix it. The salesman sold me a convenience package that was purported as an extended warranty, but was actually a towing and rental car package.

At about 8,000 miles while driving down from big bear lake, the car experienced sever front end vibration during braking he car was returned to tuttle-click where they determined the rotors were warped. The rotors were turned under warranty. About 11 months later while returning from my next trip to big bear the problem recurred at 13,000 miles. The car was returned to tuttle- click and the problem was identified as warped rotors. This time they refused to turn the rotors even though the 3 year / 30,000 mile warranty was in effect. This is a safety related design defect and should be corrected.

In oct 2000 lis. A Jeep from damiolier chysler. In 2002 the Jeep was all over the road took to thier shop they cut the rotters the Jeep only had 6,000 miles in the year 2003 hda to return not even a year had gone by and they re-cut the rotors with only 12,000 mile on the Jeep[. This is the year 2005 the Jeep has only 24,000 miles and since Dec. 2004 it started again. The place where I got the car is no longer in NJ now it will cost me 500. 00 to fix something which should have been fix right the first time.

My Cherokee has 14000miles I have had the truck for 2 yrs. I took it to the dealership for the front end shaking and they told me that the rotors were warped. The brakes are only covered for 12000 miles. It cost me 180. 00 dollars to fix,it seems to me that the rotors should last longer than that Jeep should fix the problem or nobody should buy them.

Engine blewout while driving at highway speed of 65-70 mph. Dealer notified. *akvehicle jerks while in motion at hywy speeds. The compressor clutch was defective and was replaced. The brakes pulsate when applied. The front rotors was turned. Brakes shudder when braking from highway speeds. The rotors were found to be warped. The engine overheats. The cooling system was found to be under high pressure. The cylinder heads were removed because they were warped. The engine was replaced due to warpage. A bump is felt when coming to a stop. The rear driveshaft was replaced with revised parts per technical service bulletin. The rear end noise is still apparent. A new shaft and yoke were installed. The transmission shofts hard on acceleration in low gears. The transmission control module was reprogrammed. Acceleration is still jerky while in motion and the turn signals and headlights go on and off at random. Consumer asks for reimbursment of monies paid and to have vehicle traded for one that can be trusted.

Rotors warped very fast. Service technician stated manufacturer was putting same rotors on Cherokee's, which were too heavy of a vehicle in comparison to wranglers. Steering vibrated when brakes were applied, and vehicle would not stop. This was 3rd set of rotors put on every 7-9 miles. Rotors have been changed.

Front brake rotor warping at 8,000 miles. Front right tire wear, front tires out of balance. . . Vehicle now has 14000 miles and is pulsing and vibrating again. . . . . I am in the process of contacting an attorney. . . . This is not what I tought I bought and I am not going to change rotors every 5-15 thousand miles for the life of the vehicle.

Since we have owned this Jeep, we have experienced chronic problems with the front tire wheel balance and rotor system on the front end of this vehicle. The problem started shortly after we took ownership of in October, 2000 when the truck had 1743 miles. Brakes pulsated and it was determined that rotors were warped. First set up replacement rotors from dealership using Chrysler parts June 26, 2001. Problem occurred again December, 2001 when vehicle had 28,887 miles on it. Dealership offered to resurface rotors as they were warped. Refused to replace them even though they were defective and still under warrantee. Took vehicle to a third party mechanic and paid to have installed after market rotors to address pulsating brakes and issue that when pulsating brakes were applied on highway, vehicle pulled sharply to the left. Defective rotors - recall is necessary to prevent future serious injury to those operating vehicle with original rotors.
