Brake Disc Rotor problems of the 2002 Jeep Cherokee

Eight problems related to brake disc rotor have been reported for the 2002 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2005

19,000 miles brakes pulsating and car shaking at all speeds, rotors and pads replaced. At 30,000 miles brakes again pulsating and car shaking.

2 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2004

2002 Jeep grand Cherokee se- brake vibrations and front end shimmers with high speed brakeing with only 28000 miles. Dc and Jeep warrenty will not cover new brake rotors and pads to resolve issue.

3 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2003

The consumer was driving the vehicle when the brakes began to pulsate when pumped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the pads were replaced the pads and the rotors because of a seal leak. They also indicated that the brakes were not put on properly. The same problem exists again and they said that the rotors need to be replaced again. The manufacture has been contacted.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2003

Consumer states that brake rotors are wearing, and when applying the brakes, vehicle will have heavy vibration and extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2003

Nar 04/28/2003. Mr the consumer experienced problems with the front and rear brake rotors and pads had to be replaced.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2003

The front rotors on the vehicle warped which caused the front end to shimmy while driving at any speed. Whenever the brake pedal was depressed there was a spongy feeling and the steering wheel vibrated annoyingly.

7 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Consumer heard a grinding noise coming from the rear of vehicle after the brakes were released. . The vehicle was returned to the dealership three times and the problem was still not resolved.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem

The entire body of the vehicle vibrated when the brake pedal was depressed at speeds of 50 mph or higher. The dealership serviced the vehicle 4 times but were unable to correct the problem.
