1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

I am writing to you requesting your assistance in finding out what is wrong with my 2007, 67,000 mile Jeep grand Cherokee laredo. For approximately four months while driving the car it has been randomly miss firing, bucking and surging, and stalling when coming to a complete stop. The unpredictability of the cars speed, bucking and surging, and stalling when stopped is a major safety concern to me because this occurs without notice on both street and freeway driving. I have taken my car to the nearest Jeep service dealer, crystal Chrysler Jeep three times now and they have not been able to diagnose the cause to this problem. In fact, my car has been in the service department at crystal Chrysler for nearly three weeks now, and they cannot identify specifically what is causing this malfunction. My frustration over my beloved Jeep grows because without finding the cause there is no telling when my car will be ready. This experience now has me questioning the reliability of Jeep vehicles and the confidence in service dealers like crystal Chrysler. Please help me find out what is wrong with my Jeep vehicle.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

Had the transmission warranty recall update done, now I am getting a "service 4wd" light. In doing research this is very common on Jeep's who had the recent warranty update. Jeep needs to correct this problem. In some cases dealers are replacing actuators under warranty and in some not. My dealer, ed tomko Jeep in avon lake, ohio, would like to charge me to take a look at it. Chrysler/Jeep needs to pay to correct this problem.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

Was driving and vehicle would no longer switch gears from first to second. I was on freeway in construction area that was down to one lane and could not pull over for approximately ten miles. Not happy at all since the vehicle (2007 Jeep grand Cherokee) has relatively low miles for a power train problem. My car is currently in the shop, but research shows this is a common problem with my model and a dangerous and expensive one at that. How is this not a recall?.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2013

I was driving 40 mph and pressed the accelerator to speed up to 45 when my Jeep lost power. I pressed the accelerator fully and the transmission did not downshift and the engine just kept losing power. This has also happened from start twice. It has happened at around 60 mph while getting on the highway. The only thing that helps is if I turn off the engine and turn it back on. Then the car drives normally. I bought the car 10 days ago with 82500 miles on it. It's already acting up.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

Driving down road and engine stalled. Loss of power steering and power brakes. Put car in park and the car still moved wouldn't restart had to switch ignition off and take key out of ignition before engine would start. Stalls at random without any engine malfunction lamps. Hazard to be driving on road. Problem still unknown and vehicle is out of extended warranty.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

The vehicle will stall out when you are trying to accelerate, even with the gas pedal to the floor the rpms will shoot up but the vehicle will not move forward. If you stop and put the car in neutral it will sometimes fix itself but not always and this is not a good option to resort to in the middle of an intersection. This vehicle will also downshift on its own while you are driving at a high speed slowing your car without warning. Very dangerous if driving on the interstate with other vehicles around. Was told replacing the electronic shift module (at $1100) may possibly fix the problem but the dealership was not sure that this would remedy the issue.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged but failed to respond. The contact merged to the shoulder, powered off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle intermittently continued to experience failures with the accelerator as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and the current mileage was 10,500. Updated 12/11/12 the consumer stated he was in the process of making arrangements to have the vehicle repaired. Updated 12/17/12.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2012

Jeep does not start. Message saying transmission temp over.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2012

Was pulling from a stop sign when the vehicle suddenly shifted to fourth gear without touching shift left lever causing the vehicle to accelerate very slow and was almost hit by cross traffic because I could not get out of the way, luckily they swerved around me. I have read multiple complaints of same problem with shifting out of control. It must be a manufacturer defect. If it had not been for an alert driver the situation might have turned out differently for my family and I. Jeep needs to remedy this problem before somebody is killed.
