The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While the vehicle was stationary, the power liftgate would not open when prompted with a key fob. Upon opening the liftgate manually with a key, the contact noticed smoke exiting from the cabin of the vehicle and flames under the control module near the spare tire. In addition, the contact noticed that there was approximately a half of gallon of water in the bottom of the trunk of the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. Paulding Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of dallas, georgia (1246 old griffin rd, 30157 (770)443-2277) was made aware of the failure and sent an inspector to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and determined that the vehicle was already repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v393000 (structure) and that it was no longer the manufacturer's responsibility. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude 4x4. The contact stated that while attempting to utilize the lift gate feature on the vehicle, however the liftgate failed to operate using the remote. The contact stated that the that liftgate has failed on several occasions and had to be used manually. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v393000 (structure) & 15v509000 (visibility) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000. Wh.
2014 Jeep Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to recall notice repairs. The consumer stated the rear hatch came down on her head. In February 2015, the transmission went out.
While pulling onto a state highway, my rear liftgate opened on its own, even though it was shut and latched when I initially took off. There were no warning beeps or lights before or during this event. My 35 pound dog was thrown out onto the highway.
