Vehicle shuts off with all lights flashing if I don't change oil before 2000 miles. This happened to me the first year I had the car and I was almost killed on the parkway. Burke auto said it was a software update. Then it happened four days later I was able to get it to the dealership right down the road that I live but couldn't go over 15 mph and it shut off twice in two miles. Then when I got the car there it happened to one of the technicians and scared the crap out of him and he said he wouldn't drive this car. But no one did nothing. . Now today I almost was in a accident at the food store because the transmission wouldn't stop and then the whole car stopped. It was brought to burke auto group on stone harbor blvd. Cape may courthouse NJ as they told me today they can't get to it and it's going to cost $$$$ then they let me walk home in the rain. I have had Jeeps before and they are great cars but this one is going to kill me. Please help with this matter sense I can't get no help here. The car is at burke motor group in cape may courthouse. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude 4 cylinder, battery went completely dead then came back in a hour, then shift (zf 9 speed transmission) got stuck in neutral. The only way to turn off the engine was to disconnect the battery seeing it was the weekend. Today 12/3/20, told that Jeep dealership software fixed the software issue, but I was told that I must have broken the shift while trying to get it into gear (not true) and must pay $300. 00 for the diagnostic besides the entire hvac system had to be replaced (which meant "no heat" in the car or venting which was already broken before incident but we had not needed any heat. Dah! when the car gear stuck, the vehicle was not in motion and I could not shut the engine off so the battery had to be disconnected. So cost of diagnostic, new shift entirely, and new hvac system and the car does not have 100. 000 miles yet.
On startup of my vehicle, the wipers start on full speed without any control. The turn signal indicators do not function and my vehicle has rough shifting. Lastly, the running lights on the vehicle do not function when this error is occurring. The error that appears is "shift to p and then desired gear". So I literally have to stop my vehicle (even if I am on the highway) shift to p and then back to d. This is extremely dangerous while on the road. This has happened multiple times and the only way to stop is by stopping the vehicle and disconnecting the battery to reset the software. I have taken it to the dealership and they have flashed the software multiple times, however the same issue keeps occurring. Now I am experiencing a "service shifter" error. This error flashes on the instrument cluster when driving and all of the shifter lights illuminate red. This error happens sporadically and should be addressed as not being able to use turn signal indicators is also extremely hazardous and dangerous while on the road.
Cars shift bezel and jumper harness failed and had to be replaced. While driving the car, a message comes up that states service shifter and all the lights on the shifter light up. Dash display will not go back to normal until the vehicle is turned off and the system resets. The problem is sporadic and happens randomly but started occuring more frequently after Jeep did a software patch related to another rebate in the last 60 days. Vehicle is less than 5 years old and I was told by dealership that they've seen this before and classified it as an electrical issues. It wasn't covered under warranty despite it being a failure of the electrical system and that there is no way that I could have actually damaged this part.
The electric parking brake set itself and would not disengage, requiring tow. The dealership told mei need to pay for a software update to fix the problem, however I discovered on my own a service bulletin describing the exact problem #08-060-16 the vehicle was parked, but could not be operated. My opinion, either the dealership is incompetent, or purposefully deceitful. Pay for a software update. I asked, he couldn't answer. . . How did I break the software??? it is not software, the bulletin says it all.
This is my 2nd complaint since the transmission issue on 8/6/19 (tracking #11242090). I have not received an update regarding that issue. I followed up with the manufacturer who informed me that my VIN was not associated with the recall. On 8/7/19, I had the dealer perform a diagnostic test and they found that my SUV required a software update on the transmission and powertrain. The same recall affecting the 3. 2l but not issued to my VIN. On 9/8/19, my SUV began surging multiple times when I was in idle at city stoplights and died when in shifted into park three times within an hour. The only indication of an issue on my dashboard was the battery light that came on once the car died. The dash and radio continued to perform fine but the engine shut off with the key still in the ignition. I had the battery tested on 8/06/19 along with the alternator and terminals and they were at 100%. The battery was new when purchased 11/2018. I'd like to resolve this issue in order to feel safe driving this vehicle. I can provide further documentation from the dealer bayside Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 10535 automall parkway, d'iberville, ms 39540 or it can be requested from them directly.
Bought the car about 6 months ago started having issues with transmission shifting and took it in and they told me all it needed was a software update and still to this day I have even more issues car don't start at time and then when it does check engine light turns on and when I try to put it on drive I big a big club I noise and you can really feel the car shake from the shift and and says service transmission and then all of a sudden all the service light come of by far the worse car I have ever bought!! and tell this day I still have those issues.
My Jeep Cherokee keeps repeating the same problems. This has been going on for more than a year. Sometimes I am terrified to drive because I do not know what is going to happen. Today and on other days, the Jeep has cut off on me a few times while in motion on a city street and sometimes when turning. The vehicle slams into gear when driving sometimes and feels like I am getting hit in the rear of the car. It is very dangerous because you don't know when it is going to happen. Today, the Jeep almost caused an accident when it just stopped on its own. Additionally, it often shifts gears erratically and very rough, even jerking at times. The dealership said they did a software update but this did not resolve the issue. I have taken to the dealer at least three times about this issue and I keep getting stalled saying either come back in 500 miles so the can do an oil consumption test or that they cannot duplicate the issue. Each time I take it in they say the did a software update or an oil change. The problem remains.
I bought my Jeep Cherokee 2014 awd with 60k miles on it. Within in 6 months, my dashboard said service transmission and it was undriveable. The dealership said it was software issue and fixed it. Not even a year later and I had the same issue again and it is now getting a new transmission. Often when driving, it revs very high and goes nowhere, or if I'm cruising a parking lot, its revving very high and will jerk into another gear. Not only that, but I've had know drive shaft bearing ands a new radio put it. The big issue is the transmission and the repeated tows, missing work, late to work, engine shaking, grinding, and now being replaced. I've owned it my own for 1. 5 years, am already at this point. Dealership won't replace it, just told me I have it covered under warrantly and OH well. These issues have happened when starting my car in the morning to leave my driveway, won't shift into gear. Driving on the highway attempting to switch lanes and have no acceleration so I slam on the brakes before I get into an accident because I know if it doesn't take off, its not going to until I least expect it.
A pop-up message appears that the "vehicle phone requiers service" the gps becomes inoperative and causes loss of gps function. These faults are discussed I service bulletin sb-10058300-8397. This happens intermittently and can occur at anytime. This occurred within the warranty period and but was reported to Jeep 3 days after the warranty period. It was intermittent at the time and I thought it was just a computer glitch. It is now so unreliable that it is useless. Jeep refuses to do anything to support repair of this issue which they know exists. Their u-connect people have been telling me tere is a software fix for this to put me off for six months but have not produced anythng which could fix this. It is time for a recall on this item so that they are forced to take care of their customers. By the way even though they knew there were potential issues with this function of the radio they failed to inform their customers of the problems. If they had iinformed me this problem would have been reported to them 2 months earlier and within the warranty period. This is wrong, just wrong.
I had just picked up my Jeep 2014 Cherokee trailhawk from the dealership following the s-55 recall software update. (my vehicle was deemed not to need the new transaxle wiring harness parts, only the software update. ) upon leaving the dealership, the battery light and alarm chime came on while making a u-turn and the steering became very hard at low speed. At the next traffic light, I experienced a loss of steering as slowing to a stop. When the light turned green, I was able to complete the left turn as the steering re-engaged upon acceleration. I immediately pulled into a parking lot and had extreme difficulty turning into a parking space, as steering went out again as the brakes were applied and speed decelerated to a stop. I was able to limp vehicle back the short distance to the dealership by keeping off the main highway and using parking lots and back streets. This occurrence of events was the same as my husband experienced prior to the s-55 transaxle wiring harness recall software update, except he eventually also lost all emotive power (complaint # 10915926). The service technician at the dealership could not replicate this issue, possibly because I inadvertently turned vehicle off in service lane, which may have reset the system temporarily.
On Wednesday morning, August 24th, 2016, my wife was driving our 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude in traffic when for an unknown reason the vehicle stopped dead, no warning, no coasting to a stop, an immediate very abrupt stop. The steering wheel locked up, the front wheel drive system locked up, the vehicle was unresponsive to any driver commands. My wife had to seek assistance in moving the vehicle to a safe location out of the traffic lanes. We seriously believe that this unintended and uncontrollable vehicle action is a safety issue inherent within this model of 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Upon diagnosis by the local fca dealer, we were informed that the vehicles oem battery failed the load test and would be replaced under the Jeep factory warranty, battery part number bb94r750-aa. The dealers service representatives seemed to be unconcerned with what in our opinion is a serious design flaw with this vehicle. The vehicle has received 3 previous software updates under factory warranty due to safety recalls.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle shut down and the service transmission, check engine, and park brake indicators illuminated. The vehicle was turned of and restarted after a few minutes, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to brown Ford (888-799-6294, located at 483 NY-112, patchogue, NY 11772) where the technician reprogrammed the software. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 14,786.
While driving on the highway at 65 to 70 mph, my car would go in to safe mode the massage said. "service transmission" "service park brake" the engine light and traction lights came on to. I had to coast over to the brake down lane. I would turn the car off wait for 2to 3 min's then restart the car. All massages cleared but the check engine light stayed on. The next day the engine light cleared I took it to the dealer. He said, no lights no codes no problem. This continued to happen about 10 times over 5 months. Every time the car went in for a recall I would tell them. The same answer, no lights no codes no problem. Finale I had a problem with electrical. After 3 days they found a pinched wire in the main harness going through the fire wall. This service department told me the next time the car failed in safe mode ( do not shut it off ), have it towed with the car running , this way they could check the codes in the fail mode. After 5 more times, it happened when the dealership was open. They did a software upgrade. A software 6 flash for tcm and a pcm. 3 days later on July 4 it happened 4 times, then 4 times going to work at night on July 4 for July 5. Then on July 5 going to the dealership . I had it towed in safe mode. After about 2 hours they called me. It needs a new transmission. They said there are none in the USA, they are on back order, there is no time frame they can give me to how long it will take. I did get a rent a car, but my wife and I can not go kayaking. No racks on rentals and a smaller car does not do for me. Now I have a payment and no car no time frame for when I get my car back pulse the liability of a rental that just does not work for us.
April 2016: two year old 2014 Cherokee steering cluster display when dark. Removing and replacing the fuses initially restored the display. Dealer could not analyze as the display was working when they had the vehicle. Soon thereafter the problem recurred and was taken to the dealer while the display was dark. They recovered several general codes, did some software rebooting and the display restored. Approximately two years later the issue recurred, the dealer did several software reboots on several trips but the issue remained. Finally they determined that the cluster was bad and it was replaced. Fca reimbursed approximately 75% of the cluster and installation cost. The problem recurred intermittently for several months, each time involving a trip to the dealer. Finally they had it for three weeks, determined that all was good, and returned it to me. Two days later the cluster display died. I was referred to an independent service center with electronics expertise who analyzed the issue for two weeks, including deprogramming and reprogramming the complete system. The vehicle went to a different dealer for reprogramming and when returned to the independent service center the blank cluster display remained and they were unable to determine the root cause. The second dealer suggested the cluster was defective and should be replaced. The independent folks suggested the cluster is good, there is a short somewhere in the system or wiring, or a different module. This affects the speedometer, odometer, tachometer, all engine displays, turn signal indicators, gas gauge, and emergency warnings.
Bought this car used January 1, 2016. The previous owner had it for a year and a half. Great condition, about 40,000 miles on it, carfax checked out and I bought it from a Chrysler dealership. On October 12, 2016, leaving work for the day, I drove about a block and the car shut off on me as I was leaving a stopped position. I had to put on my emergency lights and have cars go around me until it finally turned back on after several minutes of pressing the start button. Luckily, all three times this happened at a stop on city streets, but there's no way of knowing if this would happen on the interstate. But even sitting stalled in the road puts me at risk if a car behind me were to not expect a stopped car and crash into me. I had this same issue back on April 11, 2016 & July 7th. The dealership on those occasions determined that was a sensor that was ¿over sensitive¿ saying the oil levels were low and it was shutting the car off as a precaution. They asked for me to come back in every 2,500 miles to readjust the sensor. That's incredibly inconvenient for my busy lifestyle and it¿s already been in the shop for this reason for two weeks. Today is the oct. 15th and I won¿t have a chance to even schedule an appointment for a week. We bought this car because we're planning on starting a family, with all of the issues I'm having, I'm not even comfortable giving friends a ride. I love this car, but feel really ripped off by being sold a car with problems they won't or fix. Because I don¿t feel safe, I avoid the interstate and don¿t feel comfortable taking this car on any trips too far from home. Also would like to note that on the first occasion of taking this car to the dealership, they had to update two pages of software updates and two safety recalls they had not done before I purchased the vehicle from them. They did take care of this at that visit.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle jerked and independently shifted into a lower gear. The vehicle was taken to lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of billings (2229 king Ave w, billings, mt 59102), but the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer asked the contact to bring the vehicle back. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken back to lithia Dodge a third time, but the cause of the failure still could not be diagnosed. During the fourth visit to the dealer, it was diagnosed that the throttle position sensor failed and needed to be replaced. However, the diagnosis was later revised to state that the vehicle needed a software update. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and contacted the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to steer the vehicle. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, whenever the heating or air conditioning units were activated, a mold odor emitted from the air vents. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the cause of the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The dealer speculated that the software needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. After the repair, while driving down an incline at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated to move forward. The rpms increased. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the software was reset. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Ongoing issues regarding vehicle, multiple failures on multiple occasions. Serious powertrain issues, vehicle slow to respond driver acceleration input, erratic acceleration and shift performance. Airbags, stability control, forward crash mitigation/avoidance, and other safety systems failure on multiple occasions. Powertrain replaced, multiple software updates with no resolve, intermittent issue persists.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at any speed the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted over to the side of the road wait for a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed as a software failure that needed to be reprogram. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate mileage was 16,000. Aw.
A list of the current life threatening and non life threatening conditions I have encountered with my Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. The most serious being a persistent problem in relation to the transmission shifting and accelerating causing the car to jerk and in some cases whiplash. As an electrical engineer I have seen the electronic repairs made to the vehicle and yet there is still persistent mechanical problems with this transmission. I have encountered lint mode were the car will not move from gears 1, 2, or 3 on 65mph highway which I believe has caused irreversible damage to the car. The issue occurred in July on route 202 in a cattle shoot created by summer time road work I had to continue to drive the vehicle nearly 2 miles until I was able to pull over and asses the issue. Below is a list of current and past problems: -transmission stopped on a 65mph highway (new software loaded still a problem) -shifter locked in drive couldn't shift to neutral took 4 hours to shut car off at dealership (entire shifter replaced) - navigation (replaced two times, on my third nav system) - window motor mechanism (replaced) - moonroof shade and assembly (being replaced this week) -faulty wiring of cigarette lighter causing fuse to blow due to electrical short (rewired and fuse replaced) -speaker (replaced) -waterproofing trim falling off (replaced) -rattling from bolts for seat-belts (attempted fix didn't work) -O2 sensor causing multiple engine starts (replaced) -front seat uneven (replaced) -recalls ranging from hacking to electrical shorts that have been noted to cause a serious electrical fire.
The car completely shuts down with no indication or warning while driving, steering wheel locks. Immediately after shutting down the brake (however the gear is in drive) and battery light displays. I take gear out of drive and put it in park, wait a minute or two at times right in the middle of residential street or the end of a turn but it always occur while the car is in motion. I have to crank the ignition several times while tapping down on the gas pedal until the engine starts, hit the brake release, put gear back in drive or at times neutral then back in drive in order to move. This occurrence happened a few times before repairs and about two or three times daily after transmission repairs, and software updates. When pushing down on brakes to make a stop the car will accelerate (as if it's confused whether to stop or go, although I'm pressing the brake to stop) before coming to a complete stop. When backing up or switching gears it's a forceful loud jerk between shifting gears. While driving out of the blue the windshield wipers came on (no rain) and I was not able to disable them . I pulled over on the shoulder and turned the car off waiting a moment before restarting they continued to go back and forth on a dry window they stop on their own about 20 minutes later. Speedometer blanking in and out. Car burning excessive amounts of gas. Prior to engine shut down no indication or warning messages however after repairs of transmission and software updates the engine, throttle, abs lights, and transmission service message appear and disappear simultaneously when the car is running as expected. Tire pressure display inconsistent.
This car has been nothing but trouble since 1500 miles off the lot brand new Jeep. And then at 2800 and then at 3000 miles they replaced the power control module then two more times for software update. Then at 10250 they tell me the transmission has gone and needs to be replaced. As if anything else can go wrong with this car the tires they put on from the dealership firestone my aft right tire split on the sidewall for no reason at all the only damage on the tire was the crack on the tire. So not only is the car defective but the wheels from firestone as well. Has anyone else experienced my horrible luck.
In December 2014, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee shut off twice in one evening due to transmission related issues: 1) the first occurrence, the Jeep was at a red light, when the light changed & the gas pedal was pressed the car lurched and made a loud thump sound and the malfunction indicator light (mil) was illuminated and an error message related to the transmission came on. The car would not accelerate & I was forced to coast into dark parking lot alone. The manual said the vehicle should be serviced if the light stays on through several driving cycles and that the vehicle most likely did not require towing. 2) after following the manual, I turned the car back on and attempted to drive to a safe location until the car could be taken in for service (it was now around 11:00pm). The car drove normally for about 5 minutes until I got on the highway (speed limit 55 mph) & the transmission began to pull & in the middle of the highway thumped and the engine shut off forcing me to rapidly pull over into a dangerous exit ramp at around midnight in the middle of an icy winter. The car would not turn back on & I had to have the car towed. The dealership kept the car for about a week & said the issue was an internal failure of the transmission control module (which they replaced & updated the software). In may 2015, I had been having several issues with the car including another check engine light so I brought it in again for service (this is now the 4th time I had been to the dealership for a variety of issues). The transmission was pulling, jerking, & overall having issues shifting so I requested they service the transmission again. The dealership had to preform a transmission re-learn to improve the shifting. After a couple of days, the transmission was jerking again & I am going to be taking the car back in again for service (now the 5th visit to the dealership).
On 09th July 2014, I bought a Jeep Cherokee 2014 at united cars al mana airport showroom qatar. Unfortunately, the product Jeep Cherokee is not usable according to the following: on Friday 14th November 2014 07:00 pm, the car completely shut down without any prior warning or alert messages, dashboard shows (Smart key failure, steering columns is not locked as stated on the repair order), despite several attempts to contact mopar road assistance, but the number given was wrong. After many trails I delivered the vehicle to the services at 11:30 pm. Two days later I got a phone call from service consultant stating that the car is ready for pick up; repair report indicated that the battery was faulty and has been changed. On 29th November 2014, the car breakdown and every single warning message have been appeared on the dashboard, then, I delivered the car by breakdown on a trailer. The warning message was ?transmission services?, the repair report stated that the dynamo has been changed only. On 7th December, 2014 exactly the same thing has happened with small change that time, the car delivered to me by extra error ?transmission performance failure?. Recently the complications begun to increase rapidly, I delivered the car for the fourth time to services. ? on 31st January, 2015 I delivered the car to the services by transmission problem. ? on 02nd February, 2015, I received same phone call, one day later the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. On 7th February, 2015, I met the service manager and he promised to solve the transmission issues as they received bulletin by the faulty part from Chrysler USA because it's a known problem. On 09th February, 2015, I received a call from their engineer asking me to go to dealers workshop because new software just received. The car was delivered on Saturday 14th February, 2015.
While parking the vehicle, the parksense feature disabled on its own. Immediately thereafter, the red lightning bolt indicator light appeared on the dash, which has been known to be associated with the electronic throttle control, glow plugs, swirl motor failure (low pressure in rail or fuel rail pressure malfunction) and also speed sensors. The vehicle then revved up on its own without acceleration while my foot was positioned firmly on the brake pedal. Immediately following that, the word "transmission" appeared on the dash, then the check engine light, then the collision indicator as if a car crash had occurred, which it had not. Finally, the power steering became very stiff. Drove the vehicle to the dealership it was purchased from and they said the codes were unknown like hieroglyphics. Left vehicle there. The following Monday the dealership informed me there were 3 software upgrades that were needed on the vehicle, however, those upgrades did not correct the problem. Technician also informed me the car was not safe to drive and they didn't feel safe driving it themselves and got off of the highway during a test run. The technician further explained the vehicle had 3 test runs and failed all 3 and it was beyond their expertise so Chrysler engineers would be consulted this week. Lastly, the technician informed me I "may be ahead of a recall issue. " the car is 5 and half months old. I ordered the car, meaning, I had it made/built from the manufacturer. It was not a car purchased from the lot. Therefore, no other drivers of the car and it is brand new. It is a safety concern, especially since the Cherokee has been out of production for many years until the 2014 release. As a side note, I remember an incident that occurred the week prior when the vehicle had difficulty shifting gears (automatic transmission). Instead it stalled and revved on its own.
I have had numerous problems (5 total) with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee limited hard shifting into lower gears. The vehicle jerks and bucks randomly and has nearly caused me to have numerous accidents. The vehicle features the zf-designed nine-speed automatic transmission that has known issues with rough shifting. The recall update was performed in early may yet the problem persists. The vehicle randomly pulls forward, normally in stop and go traffic, and is completely unpredictable. Chrysler has a total of 5 work orders in their system and is asking me for a 6th time to bring the car in for repairs. Each "repair" trip results in a software update to the transmission that ban aids the problem for about a week and then we are right back to square one. I'm very frustrated and am requesting that the vehicle be bought back by Chrysler and I be reimbursed for all car payments made in the last year. The vehicle falls under maryland lemon law requirements in that , it has less than 18k miles and is under 24 months old and was purchased new. I am requesting to open a case with national highway traffic safety administration to assist me with this issue. I have an open case number with Chrysler of 26719430. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Upon acceleration 5mph, multiple warning lights. Transmission light, red lightning bolt light, shifting hard, wheel locked up, battery light came on, car died. Car is 2 months old. Dash flashed red writing, can no shift unless in p before died. I was in the middle of intersection when this happend. Hurried to turn car off and turn back on and it drove. Seems to do this when the car has sat for a long period of time. Shifts hard doesn't accelerate when the problem occurs. Dates occured same problem 3/30, 3/31, 4/1. Car is at the dealer for review. They did 3199 pcm software update 3/31/14. Same problem occured 4/1.
