Jeep dealers have been unresponsive in resolving/fixing recall w47 leading to the lack of functionality of my Jeep Cherokee 2015, requiring tow from chester, MD to alexandria, va given the vehicle could no longer be driven. Dealer now suddenly has "recall fix" (not available after 9 previous calls/messages between 7/21/2020 - 8/22/2020 when dealer reps never returned a message/call). They claim as of today (after Jeep was dropped at dealer by tow truck), the recall fix has been done - but say the transmission light is still on and needs to be repaired/paid for by the customer. I believe this could be further result of not fixing a dangerous recall situation which could have damaged the car beyond the recall related to front wheels, transmission, loss of power, loss of park function. My vehicle stopped running, all transmission service/abs and parking brake service lights went on simultaneously and the Jeep rolled backward until I turned it off. Thankfully I had gotten off of busy highway and experienced this at an exit and then parking lot where I waived other drivers around me, parked the vehicle and then it was placed on a flat bed tow truck. Dealers are not taking this recall seriously. More details attached. The issue has not yet been resolved by ourisman alexandria where my vehicle was towed and is still located.
2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. Was parked when service brake light came on and wouldn't allow vehicle to drive. Could not disengage the parking brake for almost 2 hours. Did this several times within 2 days. Set up service at dealership and they said water was getting into the parking brake modular and corroding it in the wiring harness the parking brake modular and corroding it and the wiring harness.
Car will turn off. Turn the key and pull it out, car stays running. When this happens, car is in a possessed state where brake lights stay on at all times, turn signals do not work, wipers do not work, horn does not work. Took it to dealership and was told there are no codes, so nothing they can do. Pull the battery cable off to shut the car down. This will happen mid drive so all of a sudden you'll lose your turn signals, wipers, horn, brake lights, door locks, and main light control. When you pull over, only way to turn the car off is to pull the battery cable.
The brakes light will randomly come on and the brakes lock and nothing can be done. You're stuck. It came on while driving yesterday and I was unable to press the brake pedal. It started initially April 2018 and the dealership kept it for weeks- but was evasive on what the actual problem was. Whatever was done -did not resolve the issue. Ive found multiple online forums with people discussing the same issues. . Read more...
I leased the vehicle on 6/17/15. Within a week the service park brake light came on briefly. Dealership said was a fluke. A few days later. Back sensor beep would not turn off while driving. Dealership said it was a fluke. A day later power lift gate wouldnt work for a day. Dealership said it was a fluke. When I called the dealership the first time they proceeded to tell me car was sold to me with a reprogramming airbag recall so I took in to get fix & have other items looked at. They never looked at other issues. A week later service brake light came back on I took in immediately. After 3 days sitting in the shop they said 25 codes came up & not sure how to fix. After a week of them having the car they said it was fixed. After 10 hrs of having back the transmission light came on. I took back to service & the mgr said car is unsafe and would request a new vehicle for me that would take 6 wks to get. He also told me the dealership they got my vehicle from had issues w/car and never said anything. In the week I havent had the vehicle ive been given 6 loaner cars. 1 of which broke down with service park brake & transmission lights on and could not shift. I have demanded Chrysler to cancel my lease and return my funds owed.
Less than 90 days after buying a new Jeep Cherokee I watched it towed away b/c it was un-driveable. It began in the morning when the gears were not shifting appropriately. Then a few hours later, the engine would rev, and car would speed up, even though I wasn't pushing gas pedal. Then reverse failed. Then the parking brake light came on. Finally, it stopped shifting up -- I had to floor it to go 5 miles an hour. I ultimately had to coast home.
My wife was driving the car all day long the brake light would come on and off after picking up my children she was going by the dealership and decided to turn in because the brakes were acting funny and has she got into the dealership she had a total breakdown you're the guy looking at the car was in amazement that she made it there safely he had no idea how she made it there safely.
