While driving on a freeway in November 2020 I had engaged the cruise control and set it at the speed limit of 70 mph. A semi truck changed into my lane without blinker warning. I slammed on the brakes but the cruse control would not disengage. I then began pumping the brakes and still no disengagement. As I approached the back end of the semi prior to hitting it, I drove off the freeway down the descending embankment still pumping the brakes without disengaging the cruise control. As I began sliding down the embankment I brakes disengage the cruise control just before a collision with the divider.

I received a notice for a recall on my Jeep Cherokee 2015 involving the cruise control. I scheduled the service at bill luke Jeep in two weeks. This has now delayed my getting this corrected by 10 days.

7 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2017

Brakes are contantly being changed. The car shakes when braking at all times. Battery always needs charged. The car will turn off unexpectedly due to battery. It has stopped at stop lights and it has stopped on i70 going towards hagerstown, MD and several city streets. It has been changed and still needs charging. Cruise control does not go to speed desired and will not slow down when decreasing the speed. Shifting gears switches to neutral unexpectedly. Car also lunges while in drive as if gears have been changed. This will happen on all roads regardless of the speed.

10 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

When I start the car in the morning stationary, the car leaps forward and then the car rocks back and forth. Ive complained about this before but dealer could not replicate issue since the issue usually only occurs when engine is cold. Also, transmission slips and revs when in motion changing speeds using cruise control. The Jeep has always done this since ive owned it.

11 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

Going down hill, the car accelerated 8 to 12 miles an hour faster than the cruise was set for. Car keeps accelerating until you hit the brake. Does not hold the set cruise speed limit. I brought it to the dealer and after 1 1/2 hours they told me my Cherokee limited was not equipped with an adaptive cruise control with stop and go. I was told by the service writer I just have to hit the brake until the decline is over and then hit resume on the panel. I know this is incorrect so is there a fix for this? we are taking a long drive trip to pennsylvania and I will need the cruise to enjoy my trip.

12 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

Purchased car 5/13/15. On 5/30 noticed shimmy/vibration as I accelerated from a stopped position into a sharp right turn. Appt made for service 6/8. At check-in, customer servc knew exactly what I was talking about; confirmed in test drive. Reported star case #s1421000022, half-shafts (left & right axles) defective, need replacing. Told car was completely safe to drive in this condition. Verbal & written confirm that parts were being manufactured and were scheduled for release 9-2015. Told by service mgr, Chrysler issued an internal TSB 2-2015. Parts warping when heated and fluid loss occurs. Entire assembly needs to be replaced but parts haven't been manufactured, contracted with company that manufactures the trailhawk model (no problems reported on those parts). Assured car was safe to drive but Chrysler rep agreed to pay for rental car for long trip I had planned prior to purchase. Researched -- I have found this issue dates back to the 2014 models. Bottom line, they knew this part was defective prior to selling me the car in may. I agreed to be patient but it is now sept and have not had my "status update" inquiry phone call returned. Vibration issue grew worse quickly, turned into a wobble. I can't drive it for extended periods on highways. As the car/parts heat up, the wobble in the front end is a constant, not just on turns. I feel as if the axles will break apart while driving. I do not have another car that I can use. There is no excuse for selling cars with a known defect and forcing a buyer to place their life in jeopardy. Other issues have cropped up. Engine races & doesn't always shift when it should; cruise control not consistent - loses speed. When returned to service, told they couldn't find a problem w/ cruise control, told transmission functioning correctly, computer is "learning" how I drive. Brakes squeak after rain, told normal by svc mgr.

The failure occurred while traveling downhill and recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be determined.
