1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

4wd overheating. Owned this Jeep for 8 years and had it in multiple (5x plus) times for service 4wd code. 2 different dealerships cannot fix the issue. Now they are telling me just drive it and not worry about it or trade it in. It smells hot and something burning. I have the life time max care warranty on it. The codes I get are the 4wd is unavailable overheated and service 4wd. They have replaced multiple parts and still not working. I will be just sitting idle and it comes on.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2024

1. The motor mounts, esim, struts, and transmission, it is available for inspection 2. When driving, it "kicks" when switching gears, at redlights, it will tell me to put the vehicle in park, I have to stay at the light, put it in park, then in drive. Sometimes I will have to restart the vehicle 3. Confirmed by automotive shop, information available upon request 4. Inspected by automotive shop 5. No warning lamps, just the check engine light and gas cap light when the problems started. This has been ongoing for months. Over $1000 worth of repairs that need to be completed.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

Service shifter light service shifter light came on and gear shift lights are all red; reverse, park, neutral, drive. Then a warning message flashed to service the air bag system and the 4wd needs servicing. This has happened three times. The first time it happened was at a stoplight. The second time it happened I could not leave a parking lot. The third time it happened I barley got it toy destination to park it. I have researched that this tends to be a problem with Jeeps.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

-transmission sporadically slams into gear while changing gears. Feels like you got rear-ended. -issues with front drivers side metal grinding noise. . . . Had it fixed @ the dealership. . . . 6 months later it's back.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2021

Car has been jerking almost immediately after buying it brand new. They supposedly "fixed" the problem but jerking has not stopped. It hesitates when trying to accelerate most times and when it shifts into gear it thrusts/jerks so hard. Vehicle has stalled on me numerous times in traffic while coming to a stop. Very afraid to even drive it. It shifts into neutral while driving or turning. It completely shuts off sometimes while in traffic or turning. Cars had to slam on brakes to prevent from hitting me. This happened on several occasions. Had to get the motor mounds and transmissions mounds replaced. Driving down the highway changing lanes wheel felt like it locked up. Getting off the interstate was very hard and scary. Steering wheel would not let me turn completely. Get it home after wrestling with it. Turn it off, to see what the problem was thinking I need power steering. Tried turning it bac on nothing! get it towed, needed a water pump, but found that my motor and transmission mounds needed replaced. After complaining about the jerking movement for so long dealership said it wasn't the transmission and it wasn't going to be covered under warranty. I put too much money into this what supposed to been a new car to have so many problems from the jump. Why is their not a recall on this whole vehicle????? have all these issues but no recalls but 1 has been made. Or I should say campaign. All these complaints about this particular car but no remedies for it. Not even when they "update" "fix" it. Too may problems. This is the worst car I've had. Used cars didn't give me this much trouble. I need to be reimbursed for all the problems I should not have had from a new car. And not covered under warranty at all. Clearly it has transmissions issues and engine issues. Just wasting my time going to get these "fixes" for it not to be fixed not once. The date below is not the first time. It's only the most recent that my car has stalled, jerked and shut down. Horrible car.

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

I own a 2015 Jeep Cherokee sport with 104k miles. Both rear knuckles need replaced and the bushings in the passenger side is severely worn more than the other. There are no local dealers who can get them as they are back ordered through Chrysler. One dealer is showing 30+ ordered through their dealership alone. I have even contacted Chrysler corporate directly with no luck or additional information. My local technician said this is a major issue especially with winter coming to my area and that is may cause the vehicle to not be able to control as intended. The part is unavailable even though it is a major safety issue! the part # provided from the dealers is 5090072ae. While researching various sites for another source, I am only able to find 5090072ad, which looks like the right part but does not match part numbers. How do I get a part that my vehicle requires to function safely and keep my family safe (new born child) when the manufacturer won't provide me the part or give me an update on when one would be available.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2020

On a Sunday the 25th October my vehicle was parked at home getting ready to go to the shops didn't want to go forward but it was automatically reversing. It changed to low gear and didn't wanna increase speed above 40km/hr, it deactivated all sensors. It lost power and started jacking but was only reversing. I called Jeep sa sandton on Monday as it did the same thing they said it must be town must towed. On arrival I was told m vehicle has ptu problem, it is not transmitting power to the front wheels. And I need to pay for replacement of ptu. I asked what causes this ptu, the service girls said she doesn't know. I googled and discovered that my vehicle was recalled for this ptu software update because these cars experience this problem. But no one informed me despite that my car went for a service with Jeep in may. The dealer and fca johannesburg is refusing to fix the damage and to update the software, the car has been with them for 2 weeks, and I am told I need to pay, while the information is clear that the recall was worldwide, and irrespective if your car is still under warrant or not the ptu needs to be updated and replaced by dealer free of charge.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2020

I was driving came to a stop a stop sign, I started to go and my Jeep just stopped in the middle of an intersection. It wouldnt move or roll. I gave it gas and it just rum the engine up. It wouldn't move and cars were coming at me. It scared me. I almost got hit by a cement truck. Lights on all the shifting lit up. Service 4 wheel drive light came on. Mileage started flashing. Some light with car and wavy roads light came on. It just stopped rolling while driving . 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude only 69,000 miles.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2020

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

Service shifter.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2018

Leaking front strut. I've been to 2 dealers and cannot get the struts. I'm told that they're on back order for 6 months. If they can't keep the struts in stock anywhere, there must be something wrong with the struts. Our Jeep only has 56,000 miles.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2018

While being towed behind motorhome, the front "load beams" on Jeep came apart. Luckily, this did not occur on highway at high speeds as it could have caused serious accident.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2017

First the rearend went out at 75000 miles then the transmission went out 79000 miles on the hwy and I almost got rearended. This vehicle has been one issue after the other. There is also a wobble in the front end.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2017

The dealership attempted two software updates and told me they couldn't fix it when I went back the third time for the transmission not shifting properly. I also had a clunking noise in the front end that was fixed with the noise returning shortly after the warranty expiring. The vehicle continues to miss downshifts and does not shift properly when trying to accelerate.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and experienced the death wobble. The contact and an independent mechanic performed a test drive however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that two days later while driving 55 mph, the vehicle drove over a bump and experienced the death wobble again. The contact took the vehicle to v&h automotive (2414 n central Ave, marshfield, WI 54449, (715) 387-2545) and the mechanic replaced the steering damper control. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph and going around a curb of, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and the failure recurred causing the toolbar to fracture and the cable bars and toolbar to detach. The contact contacted the manufacturer and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 200.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2017

Blue ox bx1136 version 0 baseplates were used on this car to pull it behind a motorhome. The baseplate design placed excessive stress on the Jeep's aluminum frame components that resulted in their welds to fatigue, crack and fail and increased the probability that the Jeep could detach during towing. A detached car is a significant hazzard to vehicles and people. Blue ox has since revised the design of the baseplates to reduce the stress applied to the aluminum frame components, but did not notify me of the design revision. I only learned of the revision after my frame components had failed and I was at significant risk of losing the car during towing. In addition, I have inspected one other Cherokee using the same design baseplates and found that their aluminum frame components have failed similar to mine. I believe that blue ox needs to immediately notify all owners of the bx1136 original design baseplates and issue a recall.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front end shook violently, the steering wheel went back and forth without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer straub Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram located at 1502 wheeling Ave, glen dale, wv 26038; (888) 449-5231 where the dealer stated that the contact would be responsible for the repairs. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 877-426-5337 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall under the VIN and that the contact would have to pay for the charges and a case number was not provided. The failure mileage was 21,000.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

I bought my Jeep with 12,000 miles. I have taken it to the dealer 3x so far for the same exact issues. Transmission clunking, lurching, wont down shift at low speeds. When in traffic below 20mph some times it revs for a few seconds and doesn't move and then the vehicle lurches forward. Sometimes it just has no acceleration like its stuck a few gears too high. The shift going into 5th gear sometimes feels like I got rearened it shifts so hard. When this happens the vehicle jerks back and fourth and has a metallic bang going into 5th. The 5th gear hard shift is intermittent. The bogging, lurching and refusal to down shift at slower speeds is constant. Dealer has yet to be able to do anything but computer updates. They say its "normal". It is very dangerous in traffic because you never know what its going to do when you try and accelerate. I can't count the number of times I have tried to cross in between traffic and the truck refuses to go or just moves at a turtle speed. Once I press the accelerator hard enough it will down shift hard enough to break the tires loose and peel out when it lurches ahead. It is very troubling and I don't want to let anyone besides myself drive it because I dont want them to get in an accident. I can also assume that all of these hard shifts are causing a lot of premature wear on my drive train. Its like putting the car in neutral, revving it up and then slamming it into gear. It is a daily occurence.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2017

The contact owned a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the contact felt a bump in the road and the vehicle flipped over several times. The entire front wheel assembly became detached from the suspension. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the spine, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage and VIN were not available.

21 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2016

Transmission problems and electrical problems had the car at dealership at least 3 to 4 time for over a week at the time called Jeep headquaters at least 20 time and they are very bad with costumer service. I am worried about the safety for my family driving the car, since tranmission issues should not be handled like that. No support from Jeep capital.

22 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was being towed by a 2000 holiday rambler endeavor recreational vehicle. While the RV was driving 55-60 mph, the Jeep shimmied violently without warning. The Jeep was taken to folsom lake Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (12545 folsom blvd, folsom, CA 95630 (888) 480-1238) where the diagnosis was unknown. While the Cherokee was at the dealer, the contact notified the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent a new wiring harness to the dealer and the Jeep was repaired. A year later, while the Jeep was being towed by the holiday rambler, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had the Cherokee towed to autoworld Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (1370 auto center dr, petaluma, CA 94952 (707) 762-2712), but the dealer refused to diagnose or repair the vehicle without knowing the repair history. The vehicle was taken back to folsom lake Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the Jeep Cherokee only violently shimmied while being towed. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

23 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2016

Jeep Cherokee recall s13 see letter attached. Vehicle was represented to be capable for flat tow at purchase. Recall a year+ later required modifications in order safely to do so. Fca is requiring owners to pay for modifications.

24 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2016

When I purchased my 2015 Jeep Cherokee one of the main reason was for its ability to be flat towed behind a motor home with ease. After having it for a number of months I noticed it sometimes vibrated while towing. After reading some forums and checking with dealers Chrysler realized that was due to these new models having electronic steering versus the old hydraulic systems and it now requires power to be constant to the steering during towing. Now realize when I purchased it the manual clearly stated the procedures which I followed. Now I receive a notice that says in order to flat tow I need a special harness installed with a cost of parts and labor of over $400. They have now provided an addendum to their owners manual stating all this. My issue is they want the owner to pay to make their vehicle safe when the owner was not the issue here. The owner should not be forced to pay when they purchased a vehicle that was advertised with certain features like safe flat towing when in fact that was not the case. So unless I want to pay $400 I have to tow a car that could vibrate severely under certain road conditions which could cause an accident.

25 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2016

I have hard shifting and noice from transmission ,,im under warantee but fca don't want to solve this problem.

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2015

When vehicle reached approximately 5,000 miles I took it to the dealer for routine maintenance - lube, oil and filter, tire rotation and wheel alignment. Dealer stated vehicle could not be aligned to specification; explanation was: "something is bent" and recommended I take the vehicle to a body shop for diagnosis. They did not provide a worksheet with the appropriate settings. I took the vehicle to a tire shop to perform an alignment. They also said they could not align the vehicle to specification. They did provide a worksheet showing the appropriate settings. Tire shop confirmed that the existing specifications were close enough to ideal to not be a problem. The vehicle shows no tendency to wander or to pull. I suspect possible manufacturing defect for the suspension parts.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the rear passenger's side cv axles needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to part unavailability. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000. Oo.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2015

I was driving to work on a Thursday morning, the same route I always take, I am very fimilair with the raod and traffic in this area because I have been driving it for the last seven years straight. Well on my way, I got into a accident, my new Jeep has been into the shop a few times for a recall, I have only had the Jeep for 7 months and have had to bring it in 2 times and now a 3rd for an airbag deployment issue. Anyway, I was driving to work and my Jeep does this thing where it feels like it shuts off when I am stopped and turns back on when I begin to move, I noticed it when I first purchased the Jeep when I brought it in to the dealer, they told me it is suppose to do that because of the four wheel drive, I said ok fine I just wanted to make sure I was safe because that is one of the reasons I purchased this car. Well on the way to work, my Jeep did just that but lately it is doing a jerking move when it starts to accelarte now, making it feel like my car is jerking and accerating on its own which resulted in my hitting the car in front of me. Now the Jeep was not going at a fast speed at all, I am very familair with the location so I pay attention to detail here. I felt my Jeep do the jerk movement and with my acceration I am certain this is what caused me to hit the car in front of me, I think there is something seriously wrong here and this needs to be addressed.

29 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

Purchased car 5/13/15. On 5/30 noticed shimmy/vibration as I accelerated from a stopped position into a sharp right turn. Appt made for service 6/8. At check-in, customer servc knew exactly what I was talking about; confirmed in test drive. Reported star case #s1421000022, half-shafts (left & right axles) defective, need replacing. Told car was completely safe to drive in this condition. Verbal & written confirm that parts were being manufactured and were scheduled for release 9-2015. Told by service mgr, Chrysler issued an internal TSB 2-2015. Parts warping when heated and fluid loss occurs. Entire assembly needs to be replaced but parts haven't been manufactured, contracted with company that manufactures the trailhawk model (no problems reported on those parts). Assured car was safe to drive but Chrysler rep agreed to pay for rental car for long trip I had planned prior to purchase. Researched -- I have found this issue dates back to the 2014 models. Bottom line, they knew this part was defective prior to selling me the car in may. I agreed to be patient but it is now sept and have not had my "status update" inquiry phone call returned. Vibration issue grew worse quickly, turned into a wobble. I can't drive it for extended periods on highways. As the car/parts heat up, the wobble in the front end is a constant, not just on turns. I feel as if the axles will break apart while driving. I do not have another car that I can use. There is no excuse for selling cars with a known defect and forcing a buyer to place their life in jeopardy. Other issues have cropped up. Engine races & doesn't always shift when it should; cruise control not consistent - loses speed. When returned to service, told they couldn't find a problem w/ cruise control, told transmission functioning correctly, computer is "learning" how I drive. Brakes squeak after rain, told normal by svc mgr.

30 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

A car turned left as I was going straight and struck me at the front left side of the vehicle. The impact broke my tired completely off the vehicle smashing both the front and the entire side of my car with enough damage for me to have to kick my door multiple times in order to exit the car. After the first impact I lost control since a tire was missing and the vehicle hit a semi truck head on. No air bags deployed. Car is totaled and has frame damage. I contacted Jeep and they have since done an investigation and told me I was not going fast enough for air bags to deploy and are now not returning my calls. When the investigator called me after he inspected the vehicle he was shocked that I said the car was totaled. The car was brand new I had it for 15 days. There was a recall performed on the air bags the day before and when reviewing the receipt showed that they worked on the car for less than 15 mins but had my car for 6 hours? stating the recall was previously performed even though when I brought my car in to have a security system installed few days prior they said the recall needed to be performed and I set the appointment up. There is no way I was not going fast enough to have my safety features work in my brand new vehicle but I was going fast enough for my axle to snap and my tire to become disconnected from the vehicle. Jeep will not return my calls so I must take further action. Please assist me and take this seriously no one should feel unsafe in their vehicles.

31 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

When slowing down in traffic or starting a step grade the transmission boggs down and then slams into a lower gear causing a sudden and instant speed as if you were trying to drag race from a stop sign. Often causing loss of traction and forcing the wheels to spin out. I have had numerous times where I almost rear ended the vehicle in front of me at 4 way stops or in construction zones. The axel also wobble upon starting out, mainly in 2nd gear. One time while on a dirt road the force of the ecelleration put me off the road. After my 4th attempt to have a repair done, they exchanged the inner portion of the transmission, the vehicle now performs this action almost every time I come to a stop or slow down to 5 to 7 mph and then apply the gas again. No gradually ecelleration available in this vehicle. I won't allow my wife to drive due to the extreme safety hazard having to give min. Of 3 car lengths so as to not endanger others on the road. The vehicle has been in the shop 5 times in 5 months for this issue and still not corrected. Both axel have been replaced on the front of the Jeep and numerous computer upgrades. My service manager stated to me he had 4 others in his shop in one day waiting for a fix and another dealer in texas has 35. My best friend works as a salesman for the local dealer and said they are towed in for this problem multiple times a week. When asking his manager what to say to new buyers he was told that's what a warranty is for. My Jeep was taken into the service department for computer upgrade for the transmission before I even bought it.

32 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle front end shakes while accelerating at low speed. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer aligned the tires however the failure was not corrected. The dealer also test drove the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 100. Li.
