I experience unintended acceleration when coasting. When the car attempts to down shift, there is a sudden increase in the engine rpms and a sudden and unintended increase in speed. I have gotten no satisfaction from the dealer or Chrysler. They claim that it is the way it was designed to operate. Note: when this occurs my foot is on neither the gas or brake pedals. This occurs mostly on level street and highways.

I was on the highway when my transmission light came on and the vehicle stopped accelerating. I had to pull over, put it in park, then back into drive to get it to move again. This happened numerous time until I could get it to a Jeep dealership north of atlanta georgia. When I finally got to the dealership, my son and I told them what was happening. They apparently knew immeditately that it was a computer malfunction. My vehicle needed approximately 7 updates to the computer!! my son and I could have been killed in the middle of city traffic on a highway because of a computer! I asked the service manager why I was never told this could happen and he said there is no way to tell and there is also no warning this will happen or if it may happen again. I am terrified of this car that I can not get rid of now! now I see that some other Cherokees can spontaneously accelerate and then go into park on its own? another computer issue? I hate this car now and it terrifies me to have my family in it. We got it to travel from FL to CT and now I will no longer take the chance with my family's lives.

I experience unintended acceleration when coasting. When the car attempts to down shift, there is a sudden increase in the engine rpms and a sudden and unintended increase in speed. I have gotten no satisfaction from the dealer or Chrysler. They claim that it is the way it was designed to operate. I asked the Chrysler representative to put that in writing and she refused. Note: when this occurs my foot is on neither the gas or brake pedals. This occurs mostly on level street and highways. Attached is a copy of the latest of many service request.
Vehicle stalls out in the middle of driving, completely losing all power to the vehicle in the middle of traffic. Steering wheel locks up and acceleration rapidly declines to 0. Dash displays shift to p then desired gear. In order to get the vehicle working correctly again, I must shift to p and then turn the vehicle off and back on (when turning the vehicle back on, it hesitates to start). Can't turn on hazards so no one knows why I am stopped in the middle of traffic. Have been to the dealer two times now, going on three. Being told software. Regardless of that, it's very dangerous and hazardous. All it will take is someone not paying attention for myself and my family to be seriously hurt or god-forbid worse.

I purchased a 2015 Cherokee sport in October 2014. Since then I have noted several reoccurring problems. Having never owned a brand new I thought perhaps there was some early mile growing pains but these problems persist. The screen malfunctions at will; sometime the rear camera is engaged when driving forward, the screen locks on the disclosure/acceptance page. Voice recognition/command has never worked. Unintended acceleration when at a complete stop (reminds me of an unruly dog on a leash trying to leap forward). Delayed acceleration when the gas pedal is depressed causing it to suddenly leap into motion risking hitting a car in front of you in city traffic (I live in los angeles – this is particularly concerning) or a wall behind you (I back into my parking space). When parallel parking or in a 3 point scenario (d-r-d) the car, although clearly placed in the reverse the car will roll forward before reversing. Often putting the car in reverse, waiting several seconds (4 to 5) before releasing the break will do the trick but just as often, it makes no difference. Gear transitions are sloppy. This car does not shift it lunges. I’m surprised the damn thing doesn’t bite although it tries. I thought these were my pet peeves but it appears I am not alone. I wish I had read these earlier complaints. I would have returned it to post haste. I hate this car but am not in the financial position to buy another. Purchased from a dealer 50 miles away (best price) has made it difficult to take into the dealership. I have finally scheduled 2-days off from work to take it in. I wish I was in the position to not just drop it off but leave it there. If I had the money I would not hesitate.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. The contact indicated that after restarting the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. Also, the contact indicated that while at a stop light attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitated to respond before suddenly accelerating at a higher rate of speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who did not determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified but not solution was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 23.
On numerous occasions when slowing down bu not a complete stop, Jeep does not downshift lower than 3rd gear unless. On several occasions Jeep inches forward at a slow rate and suddenly when accelerator is depressed further it shifts hard and accelerates rapidly. Safety is in jeopardy when pulling into traffic on right turns. Unless vehicle is at a complete stop it will not downshift lower than 3rd gear. This results in less power when pulling into traffic. Jeep has updated software 3 times. Condition has not changed.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift properly and there was constant unintended acceleration when the gears changed. While changing gears to pull into the driveway, the vehicle surged forward into the garage without warning. The contact applied the brake pedal with force when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than five times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure continued at random. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Crash - I rear ended another vehicle in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport. I was braking when the car suddenly accelerated, driving me into the vehicle in front of me. This has happened before, but only this time did it result in an accident. I took it to a certified Jeep dealership and had the service department check it out. They said nothing is wrong with it. I am pretty nervous about this. I know how hard I was braking, and it just didn't matter. The car was working against me. I had to throw it into park just to stop the car.
