1 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 1998 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/21/2024

The contact owns a 1998 Jeep Cherokee equipped with goodyear tires, tire line: wrangler radial a/s, tire size: 275/75/r15, dot number: 1pjhlfnwr. The contact stated that he had purchased two tires from walmart that were installed in the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle started wobbling. The contact stated that the failure occurred increasingly as he continued driving, causing him to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to walmart, where it was inspected, and the contact was informed that the rear tires were out of round and the tread had separated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he needed to drive to the nearest goodyear dealer for the tire replacements; however, the nearest goodyear was 100 miles away. The tires were not replaced. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The tire failure mileage was approximately 200. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

2 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

(continental pro contact TX 225/55r18 - mold numbers 417777 and 408589) tire belts in both passenger side tires failed at the same time while driving on the interstate. The car started shaking while I was driving. There was no warning, no loss of tire pressure. Broken tire belts confirmed by dealer. Dealer disposed of tires because they were not told to hold them by continental tires. Tires mold numbers are not part of previous recall, but seem to have had same issue.

While driving,I heard a noise from the tire. When I pulled over, the tread from the center of the tire had come loose. I drove off the highway and had it checked. There was sbout two inches of tread missing. I could put my hand in the hole and underneath the tread that remained. These tires had been bought less tha two weeks before the incident. They were bought at and installed by a good year dealer.

The tread on all the original foour tires are balled all around. I have rotated the tires and the front end is in alignment. I called goodyear and they stated that these tire should not be on a Jeep that they are for sedans. The tire do have touring written on them. I also called a number of goodyear dealers in the area and they stated that they would not place these tires on a Jeep. Chrysler stated that these tire are standed equipement. I'm just glad that no one in my family has ben hurt from these tires. I'm about to replace them. . . Please help! (tiresize: p225/70r15)( dot number: tire size: p225/70r15 ).

While driving about 70 mph suddenly heard a loud sound coming from right rear tire, tread separated. But consumer kept control of vehicle. Tread separated from tire suddenly caused loss of control of vehicle. The tire was previously repaired, but possibly the tire may have not been holding pressure adequaltely. The left rear tire side completely shredded;no apparent puncture,only 33000. 00 miles on tires/rate of speed was 70 mph, could have very easily resulted in a serious accident for a less experienced driver. All tread worn off right front tire after 5500 miles and tire goes flat. Jeep dealer and goodyear tire dealer say alignment ok. Goodyear says possible wheel bearing failure causing tire to drag. Jeep will not inspect bearing. After 2 hrs driving at 25mph cannot steer car, braking causes stearing wheel to vibrate, touching lug nuts will burn finger, hub and brake rotor hot. ( dot number: ).
