It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. As is warranty.

Heat shield on the muffler system. I was towing a boat up north and started to smell a burning smell. At first I thought it was an electrical issue, but couldn't identify anything. So I drove another 3 to 4 miles and the back floor boards was smoking filling the car with smoke. I pulled over and the carpet was melting from the heat of the muffler/exhaust under the back seat. When it was inspected the heat shield was not over the area that almost caught fire. This is an issue that Jeep is more than aware of and it's an issue that only happens when these vehicles are towing. They run extremely hot towing and the heat shield is defective. Their are other's that have had this happen and there's no recall! my car is equipped with tow package too and it was turned on before it's even a question. I got a call about a year ago about a family friend was towing a pop up camper and their Commander caught on fire and was a total loss! thank god no one was injured. There needs to be an investigation with people who have Commander's.
I have had a problem with transmission over temp car will not start have to let sit for 20 to 30 mins.
My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.
After driving for certain periods of time, the Jeep will not start. . It is random when it doesn't want to start. . It has to sit for minutes or hours before it decides to start up. It's been to dealership and they couldn't replicate the problem. .
Mid winter of 2018 I drove my Jeep home and parked it on a flat landing and when I went out to start it 2 days after parking it nothing happened. I had to have it towed because the problem was with my starter. Now it is October 2019 and I was waiting at a red light in the middle of a busy city intersection and the Jeep just shuts off. After I couldn't get it started up again we found that it was once again the starter. This happened 2 weeks ago and since then I had the starter rebuilt and put back in. This morning it did the exact same thing at the exact same red light. On top of this it has been overheating at random times while driving, it does leak antifreeze but it has overheated even when the antifreeze was full. Also, over the summer I parked at s pizza shop in my hometown and left it running while I picked up my order. When I returned to the Jeep it was stuck in park and needed the shifter replaced. The components that attached the shifter to the actual gears were destroyed. I've had this Jeep for 1. 5 years and it has left me sit now on 4 separate occasions.

I drove to the store and the truck drove fine. I parked and went in the store for about 15 mins. Came out and tried to start the truck. I would start and stop after about 3 seconds. I have changed spark plugs. Wires. Ign. Coils. Checked fuses. The only thing I can tell you after troubleshooting is the right side of the engine has 0 compression. I have looked on forums and it seems like hundreds and thousands of Jeep owners are having this same problem. They say its the wireless control module. I can't seem to find the wcm anywhere to buy, and I haven't seen a recall for this item.
My vehicle has a blowout head gasket @ 135,000 what will Chrysler do about this.
The car stalls without warning when you are driving. I have had it checked at the dealership and other shops several times and they cannot find out what is wrong with it. It does not matter if you are on the street or on the highway (which is scary) and it is totally random. According to the website I have had all the recalls done.
When trying to crank the car the ignition is very slow and the lights dim. It is trying to turnover but cannot. After a few attempts it starts smelling like something electrical is going on. We attempted to jump it off but it performs the same even when attached to jumper cables. So it is not the battery which was changed 2 years ago and the starter was replaced 2 years ago as well. This has been happening for a while periodically but it always eventually started and never smelled like something electrical was burning. The vehicle was parked in a parking spot in lexington for only a few minutes to run into the retrieve some documents and when returning it just would not start. Once I got home I started looking up common issues with electrical and noticed that there had been several recalls that might apply to my issue. I plan to call our local Chrysler dealer as soon as they open and see if they can confirm and pick it up for repairs that should be covered under the warranty.
The vehicle shut off without warning while driving 65 mph. Lost control hit side truck try restart but won crank or anything head lights and everthing is normal just won crank again.
When attempted to start vehicle, clicks but starter won't turn. Adjusting contact if factory wires resolved no start situation temporarily. However, problem returned in 24hours.
The 2007 Jeep Commander I own is having a fuel pump relay issue. It will not start but continuously turns over also we have had the car stall out on the highway at high speeds making it a rather dangerous situation. Many of the vehicles from 07 and up had a recall for this exact reason but unfortunately mine was not covered under this recall. I am certain that this is my issue but the manufacturer has refused to do anything to fix the problem without paying an arm and a leg.
Under heavy rain, the vehicle leaks on the inside to the point of a big puddle in the floor of the driver side while stationary. This has also caused a problem with my cruise control and on-screen nav it now goes on and off displaying the Jeep logo as if the car was just starting up and I am in the middle of driving.
Consumer writes in regard to amending/extending 10 year rule which requires automakers to only supply part for 10 years.
While driving my car will start to hard idle and then sometimes shut off at red lights or stop signs also one driving it all the sudden shut off and I'll lose all control of the vehicle and have the pull the e break just to stop the vehicle I've taken it to an authorized Jeep dealer over the past few years to try and fix the problem and they haven't been able find anything but I'm not the only 1 with these complaints there are 1000's of people having the same problems.
I was driving on public street an the gas pedal stuck the Jeep died I turned it back on when I took my boot off the break the Jeep excelled before I put my foot on the gas pedal then I put my foot on the pedal and it excelled really fast and got stuck then died. It has happened several times. When it excels by its self it goes really fast if you don't have a good grip on the string wheel it will get out of control.
My wife was driving the Jeep on 11-26-17 and she had the heater on. She felt her right leg getting really hot down by the gas peddle. When she got home she pulled up her pants leg and she saw that her leg had a bad blister on it. She did not have this before she drove the car. The heat from the floor vent was on her side burned her leg through her clothing. See pictures. I measured the temperature coming out of that vent with the heater running and it is 156. 9f see picutre.
I was driving down the freeway and the engine down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over, turned my vehicle off, turned my vehicle back on, and it drove just fine. I went to get the engine light checked and the code that came back was the map sensor. I just replaced the map sensor two months prior.
I was driving down the road and the vehicle down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and turned it back on and it started and drove just fine.
I was driving at a steady pace on the freeway and the engine light came on. I pulled over and the power steering went out as well as the brakes. I turned off my vehicle, restarted it, and was able to drive with no problems afterwards.
I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden the engine light turned on and my rpms dropped to zero. I pulled over, the power steering went out and the ability to brake went out. I turned the vehicle off and on and then it was fine, however, the engine light was still on. There were no codes when I went to a mechanic five minutes after the incident. This is the second time this has happened.
Jeep complaint case # 31436177. I am having a no crank no start issue with bogus error message that reads transmission over temp. I have taken the vehicle to three different places and no one can identify why the vehicle will not start or find anything wrong with the transmission or wiring. . . . . . . That is causing this issue. The Jeep started having this issue intermittently in February 2017 and now it will not start at all as of April 2017. Electrical mechanic is baffled and can not find any thing wrong with the Jeep even though it does not start at all anymore. Since February 2017 after this issue started I have had the computer updated to fix the problem, I have had the ignition switch replaced to solve this problem, I have had the transmission cooler lines and transmission fluid changed out to fix this problem and still the vehicle will not start intermittently and now will not start at all as of a week and a half ago. I was also told that it might be the key not being recognized by the Jeep and would need to be reprogrammed but this is not the issue either. This is not the first issue I have had with this vehicle either. I also had the wiring harness catch fire inside the driver side door boot shortly after purchasing the vehicle that caused windows, locks. . . . . . . Not to function and have had numerous issues with water pouring in from drains from the sunroof flooding the vehicle and ruining the carpet on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle also causing a mold smell.
When driving on freeway at high speeds the car shuts off and then back on again, when it happens the engine stumbles and the engine warning light comes on for a second and then back off. It makes for a dangerous condition. No codes come up though. Took it to the dealership and they put a new ignition key switch in but it still has the problem, they say there is no recalls.
Engine stalls at highway speeds.
I have as keep Commander 2007 recently my ignition was recalled and fixed now my Jeep seems to be to trying to shift while I'm on the freeway at speeds as much as 60-65 and my 4 wheel drive service light is on take it to the shop they did a diagnostic and it thru a trouble code c1438 transfer case differential also recommended replacing transfer case front riverine so I did all repairs 3400. 00 now the same problem is happening take it back still under warranty and the transfer housing is once again needing replacing the mechanic wants to charge me another 695. 00 I feel like he's taking advantage and I'm really upset the work was done may 2016 something tells me that something is wrong and possible recall was done for this problem and I am not notified.
Car won't start when turn key to start. All control panel light and audio works. When turn key back to off position transmission over temp message appears. Car had been sitting in garage for a couple of days. This third or fourth time this has occurred.
The 2007 Jeep Commander I have recently purchased starts intermittently. When turning the ignition to start, there is a stall before all controls come on, and then the Jeep does not start. This happened a little over a month ago for 1 day and then began starting right away, until now. It does not start with a battery jump, nor does it show any signs of transmission damage. It simply does not start.
I have a 2007 Jeep same engine and trans, it is doing same think as the 2006 recall is expressing. All I get from dealer is they can find nothing wrong. I can't get them to help me with anything. If you search the web you will see this is a big issue on the 2007 Jeeps also. I was very close to getting into a crash today. This is the 4th time it has happened. Recall number: 08v203000recall date: 05/06/2008 component: power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, pcm) problem summary: Chrysler is recalling 24,461 my 2006 Jeep Commander vehicles equipped with 4. 7l v8 engines. The powertrain control module (pcm) was programmed with software that may allow the engine to stall under certain operating conditions. Consequence: this could cause a crash without warning. What owners should dealers will reprogram the pcm software in all 4. 7l engine equipped my 2006 Jeep Commanders built prior to January 11, 2006. The recall began on may 19, 2008. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
I purchased vehicle in 2013 and stalling has progressively gotten worse in the last few weeks. It used to stall only in cold weather when I came to complete stop. Restarting was no problem. Two years after purchase, the vehicle will shut off every time I slow down, turn or come to a complete stop regardless of the weather, time of day or speed. It still has no problem restarting but it is unsafe and inoperable. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get out of a parking spot because it continues to shut off. It has tried to shut off at 60-70mph on the freeway. The engine jerks but if I step on the gas at this speed it prevents it from stalling. I have had all of the recalls done and none have fixed the stalling problem. Vehicle is currently at dealership and they are unable to find the cause and every diagnosis test is at my expense. I have contacted Chrysler and if the recalls did not fix the problem related to my VIN then they don't want any part of it. I believe it is a transmission problem as detailed in a NHTSA recall campaign number: 008v20300. I referenced this recall when I contacted Chrysler but they stated that if I did not get a notice then it did not affect my vehicle. I currently have a vehicle that I cannot drive because I have two small children and it is unsafe for us and everyone else on the road.
I have received recall notices about the ignition switch twice. I have been waiting almost a year for a fix. I called tom obrien Chrysler Jeep again this week. They still do not have the parts to repair this. This is a serious safety issue and should have been repaired along time ago!.
The car can not start.
