1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2017

I have own this car for 5 years and it did shut down on me due to I did hit the ingestion switch with my knee as we were going down the interstate. A couple years go after that with no issue. Now my 17 year old girl drives it now with no issue. Got recall littler ignition switch replacement. Got switch replaced and one for a re-flash on the power train. Now after that it has stalled out on my daughter 2 times a mouth apart when stop to make a turn going to school. Took to the dealer and they said it was a faulty front control module and only going off of stored codes b211e & b211a and don't know how many counts or how old they are. The service writer could not tell me that is a fix and the tech said that is what it need . I took the car home and I can not find these codes anywhere online. I did find a lot of complaints of this same thing and the fcm has been replaced with many other sensors and they still have the same issue. So that my have saved me over $500 that may or may not fix it. . I the parent am driving the car now till I can this figured out. If there are updated resolving this issue with the same problem please advise. Don't what to just throw away money on parts that is not on me but more of a safety issue on the Jeep company end that needs to fix this. Thanks for your time.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that in order for the vehicle to start, the key inside the ignition switch had to be jiggled. Approximately a year ago, the vehicle was repaired under an ignition switch recall issued by the manufacturer. The NHTSA campaign number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact maneuvered to the emergency lane and shut off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the engine but the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic as an ignition switch failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact received a manufacturer recall related to the driver control module. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice but the parts needed for the recall repairs were unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,500.

6 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2011

The vehicle was purchased new October 2007, also the extended warranty 5year 60,000 was purchased at the same time. The major problems began with the transmission electronic system, the removed and replaced something inside. Meanwhile the vehicle has been serviced and maintained by grava Chrysler Jeep since new the first time we complained and had it serviced was January 2011 and the last report was February 20,2012 and they still don't know what to fix. . Last year while driving home on interstate 93 speed approx 55 the vehicle lost power and we almost were struck by another vehicle, we had to come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park to restart. Would not restart in neutral. The tech and service manager said it should have, well it didn't. They replaced the ignition switch, it happened again, they replaced some module, it happened again, they changed the fuel pump, it happened again for the sixth (6) time. They kept it for 10 days and were not able to find the problem, no code ,no problem that was their answer. By the way they put over 500 miles on the vehicle this time.

7 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

While driving, the engine will suddenly die without warning. All power steering/brakes are lost. It will restart immediately. This is an ongoing, but random problem. The only code that is recorded refers to the ignition relay module. To date the egr, ignition relay module, and crankshaft position sensor have been replaced. The problem persists. This problem represents a severe safety issue, as a loss of power while pulling into traffic could have catastrophic consequences.

8 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2007

This complaint is in connection with a 2007 Jeep Commander 4x4. The vehicle stalled twice while on a highway service road. It is my belief that the placement and design of the ignition may be to blame for this and other stalls (which are now under NHTSA investigation). It appears that if you hit your knee on the key while it is in the ignition you can easily turn the truck off while it is in operation. Please review the placement of the ignition and its design as it appears to offer little resistance to glances from the driver's knee. It seems to easily turn the truck off. (date of incident below is approximate. ).
