Having an electrical switch issue with my Jeep. The key locks in the ignition and the car will not start. Also the airbag sign says something is wrong.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while stationary, the ignition key became stuck in the vehicle. In addition, the air bag light, the abs brake light and the traction control light illuminated as well. Napleton's river oaks Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of lansing, illinois was made aware of the failure and replaced the ignition switch and the ignition key. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000. Ad.
Chrysler has a recall out for faulty ignition switches. The recall notices were issued in sept 2014. It is now mid Dec and there are no parts and no remidy for this when in contact with Chrysler directly. On the recall it states that the engine can stop due to electrical failure w/in the veh with out notice as well as the power steering can be lost and or the braking all of which increase your crash potential. There is also warning that the air bags can deploy w/o waring causing bodily harm to both the driver and passangers. They are aware there is an issue and state they still have done nothig to resolve - inexcusible!!!.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the air bag warning light illuminated and the headlights malfunctioned. Also, the contact mentioned that the ignition switch seized on the accessory position. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
