I was in the freeway going 68-70 mph with my wife and kids where a red lightning ?? appears on the upper right corner, vehicle steering locked and tuned off while cars were coming. I was able to turn vehicle back on and move to the right of the freeway. Turns out it has a recall on it. I took it to browning Dodge in norca CA. They say they fixed my recall I picked up my Jeep , it drove ok for a few days and it started doing the same malfunction. They said they are unable to work on my vehicle due to throttle body that was replaced by a professional mechanic.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2021

Woke up and it wouldn’t crank, been driving it every day, ignition module front control module may be bad like stated in the recall, won’t turn over or crank, transmission input output sensors idk maybe transmission module, wouldn’t go over 40 I’m wondering if my Jeep has problems like stated in the recall. Technicians at james ceranti Chrysler Dodge Jeep says it’s electrical.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2021

Electrical system is failing. Began with the electrical sunroof will not open/or slide all the way open, the sunroof electrical problem has been this way since I purchased it in 04/2019. Next the touchscreen panel for the radio am/fm, will shit off while driving down the road randomly and sporadically. Cd player quit working indefinitely, I cant even get my cd out of the cd player. Will not play any cd or radio if cd player is attempted to be activated. Airbag warning light is showing on dash 24/7, however, vehicle has never been wreaked. No airbag been deployed. Vehicle has never been in a wreak. Caused injury due to rough and rugged suspension and while driving the vehicle throws passengers and driver. Has been serviced & checked. Has failed to start 23 times in a row. Checked alternator, starter, ect. 7-10 minutes of attempting to start without luck. Professional mech. Claimed its the electrical system; pro mechanic fixed problem. Problem persists with electrical system has caused the gears to slip while cruise control is actively in use and if going up a hill rpm's will sky rocket from 1 to 6 in a heartbeat. Jeep Commander is a v6 but drives as a 4 cylinder. Driving on highway is dangerous when electrical system breaks down without warning. This has scared my fiance and I several times for fear of our lives. Suspension and shocks do not work well, as the slightest bump is rough and rugged throwing passengers & driver around. All these defects never occurred until 2021. Electrical system is the most important component of the vehicles makeup it makes everything run smoothly and every single day I have electrical system problems that effects my safety and anyone in my 08 Jeep Commander. This is a manufacturer problem, I know this because a professional mechanic informed me of this and asked me to request a recall on my vehicle. Please help to correct these issues for the safety of all those on the road. Thank you for your time and consideration. God bless.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2020

The recall (n23 NHTSA 13v 225) per shanepua, of Chrysler, that is now causing major problems on my vehicle was not tasked to my specific vehicle and they won't honor the recall. The other 2 recalls were poorly done in Feb 2020 and is now again causing problems.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

The electrical system has failed. The center sound system shuts off and reboots on its own every hour or 2 causing electronic failure and has proven to get worse over time. Following that the Jeep will randomly not start, mechanics have told me that it must be the electrical system because it is not starter, alternator or the battery. Failure to start engine has occurred over 20 times. . . Effecting my ability to drive to work a few times. Power train has failure has caused electronic control, software, shift lever/gear control and indicator devices, torque, drive axles, hubs, shafts, cv joints, housings and related safety systems to fail/stop working while in drive; example the Jeep was driving 50 miles an hour and transmission gears shut down and I tried shifting into neutral attempt to start transmission/engine failure. All transmission gears shut off. Then after 5 minutes came back on and started working again while driving down a country highway , luckily no other vehicles passed during this incident. This scared me and the passenger in fear of wreaking from lack of control of the vehicle. This has happened 2 times. Having severe problems with gear shifting or transmission failure. Has presented a safety hazard. The speed control fluctuates when driving up a hill or vehicle stalling while driving at 50 mph and must let off the accelerater in order to get vehicle back into correct gear. Vehicle has been inspected by mechanic by using diagnostic tests and each time they cannot find anything wrong with the transmission or engine. . . Only electrical system which makes sense because the Jeep is a Smart car and professionals have informed me to take the Jeep to the manufacturer inorder to fix the electrical systems malfunctions. There were no messages/warnings prior to each failure which began in the spring of 2021. Except the radio/center electronic consol which failure of the screen, dvd/video, & radio transmissions that shut down and reboot every 2 hours started 2019.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

I called last 8/9/18 to brought the attention on what's going on with my vehicle. I received a respond from NHTSA dated 8/28/18. Please review your computer system from my report. There is additional problem that I just experienced recently when we have a severe storm happened last 8/10/18 the sun roof was leaking and it flooded the driver side floor. I have to clear the water and open all the doors to let it dry and applied anti mold disenfectant to protect our health. Also the computer system discontinued working. The system monitor failed. Dealer was asking $ 800. 00 to fix monitor system. Some of the issues in this vehicle was not brought to the dealer due to I have no funds to pay for the service. Not all people have a substantiate funds especially I'm out of job. I was not sure if I am the second owrner of this vehicle because we bought it use. When we bought it the mileage was 125000 miles. I'm not sure the history of this vehicle. I suggest that you might find that information through the dealer. As I recollect my past complaints was, while driving 40 miles (mph) the speed suddenly reduced and the check engine light warning sensor remained illuminated. In addition, the front driver seat would erroneously change positioned whole operating the vehicle. In addition to this both seat belt at the back passenger side was not working so passenger cannot access it while traveling. When I turned on the heater nor air-condition there was a roaring sound coming from the air-condition vent especially when it was turned on high. So over all this is my respond from the letter that you have send date 8/28/18. If you have any more question in regards to my respond from your letter please feel free to write at carolyn palomata 212 eagle creek road moyock, nc 27958 or my contact number 757-759-6729. 11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

I have had several occurrences of my Jeep stalling while driving. Range in speeds are from 5 - 60mph. Changed a computer and still having the problem.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2013

As I was slowly pulling into a parking space with my foot on the brake pedal the car was coasting slowly into the spot. I began to depress the brake pedal to begin stopping when suddenly the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floor and the vehicle began to accelerate. I tried to pump the brake and the vehicle continued over the curb into the building. The airbag never deployed. I did not have my foot near the accelerator during this time, the floor mat was nowhere near the accelerator or brake pedal and the vehicle was in drive. The brakes failed to work and the car accelerated on it's own.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

The car star decreasing speed and wont accelerate. Have to park turn it off and star it again and happen more frequently.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

There have been two times that the vehicle just would not start after a rain, but when we had it looked at no problems and it has not happened again. The major issue is that while driving home on the toll road all of the sudden the vehicle just lost power and would not go over about 30mph, so I have to try and get across a toll road in rush hour traffic so that I can turn it off and back on. When I did that it came back on fine. This has happened multiple times, but when we called Chrysler they told us there was no recall for our VIN, but it sounds like the same exact problem that the non 4x4 2008 Commander has and that did get a recall. Now the vehicle did it again last night and will not correct itself with a restart, and will not go 30mph. I can't believe that so many of us are having the same exact issue and there is nothing being done about it, I guess someone really does have to be injured or die to get any attention.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2012

My Jeep will stall while driving it without any warning. I have been driving as slow as 20 mph and recently driving on the expressway at about 60 mph and my car will suddenly stall. There have been times ( as recent as yesterday) that it has stalled while driving the expressway and then again at a stop light. It has become increasingly frightening to drive my car as I never know what will trigger it to stall. There are also instances where it will start only after several attempts. I recently had a full diagnostic check-up done and the mechanic reported he could find nothing wrong.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

While driving at highway speed vehicle lost engine power slowing vehicle on highway. Speed is restored after foot is taken off accelerator and reapplied. Lights appear on days indicating the stability control and an electrical problem. Vehicle was brought to mechanic several times and could not locate any problems. Loss of power is now at random intervals at all speeds and all conditions. Mechanic is still unable to locate any problem. Fear an incident could occur at any time resulting in a crash at highway speeds. Lots of information about the same problem located on the web.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

Chrysler has a recall on electrical systems on the 2008 Jeep Commander. The recall details loss of headlights, wipers, blinkers, and for the engine to stall. But they are only covering it on certain vins. Our 2008 Jeep Commander has suddenly experienced all these problems. My husbands head lights went out in the middle of driving in the dark. The wipers quit working, we have no blinkers, and the engine keeps stalling. We called the Chrysler corporation and they refuse to take our Jeep in on the recall, yet acknowledged it had all the signs of the recall, they said it had too many miles. We have three small children and the recall states that it is a serious problem and could cause a crash. So what are we too do know?.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2009

I purchased a new 2008 Jeep Commander (w/approxi. 50 mi) from sansones route 1 auto mall on 6/11/09. Within 48 hrs of purchasing the vehicle (at 150 mi) the shift gear and transmission malfunctioned. On 6/13/09 I drove the vehicle to jersey city, NJ. After reaching my destination, I put the vehicle in park to unload. When I finished, I could not shift the vehicle out of park without engaging the shift lock manual override (as described in the owners manual). During this time the malfunction indicator light was on and the electronic vehicle info center displayed service park assist system. I called the dealership to alert them of the problem and I was asked to take the vehicle to the dealership to be serviced. On the way to avenel from jersey city, the vehicle drove without issue for approximately 5 miles. However, after proceeding through an intersection and stopping for a red light, the vehicle began to jerk and with the pedal pressed to the floor, it would only accelerate to 30 mph. I drove at this speed on route 1 from jersey city to newark airport when the engine suddenly opened up and the vehicle shot off at a high speed. Thankfully, no one was directly in front of the vehicle at the time and I was able to drive at approximately 50 mph from newark airport to the sansone dealership in avenel. During the entire trip the malfunction indicator light remained on. The vehicle was serviced at sansones service center and I was told by the dealership that the issue was a faulty prndl wire that needed to be replaced. The part was ordered and installed and on 6/16/09 I was told that the wire was replaced resolving both issuesthe locked shift gear and inability to accelerate. I picked up the vehicle Tuesday night. Four days later I had the same exact issue with the vehicle. My father has owned Jeep products for over 15 yrs and has never experienced performance issues of this magnitude. It is obvious that this vehicle is defective and beyond repair.
