general problems of the 2007 Jeep Compass

Every time I fill up my gas tank the car will stall and shut down in the middle of the road. This is extremely dangerous as I need to put my car in park to restart it.

My 2007 Jeep Compass was just sitting in the yard not being driven was not hot and it just caught on fire by itself the fire department had to come and assist with put in the fire out the fire chief stated from his investigation that it was electrical problem from the lights and as I said the vehicle was not being operated and the lights was not on.

Fill up with gas, get a couple blocks down the road and vehicle stalls, try restarting and it hesitates.

After filling up my 07 Jeep Compass not even as I was pulling out of the parking lot the Jeep started stuttering and shut off . . It happened multiple times until I got home. While accelerating it would act like it wanted to stall . And while coming to a shop it would cut off. I was almost hit because of this . And I had my disabled daughter in the car. I have read multiple complaints about this & something needs to be done .

I purchased vehicle in Feb 2018 for my then 16 year old daughter. Last couple of refuels, vehicle will stall out after leaving gas station. She looses power, steering & braking ability when this occurs. Vehicle will start back up drive along a while then stall out again. This happens several times then will operate normally till next fill-up.

I bought the Jeep Compass around July or Aug. No sooner then I bought it it would jerk when I would take off. Then my rpms would rev up. Lile its not shifting the rifht way. Also my Jeep has a hard time going up hill. I don't feel like my Jeep is safe and it scares me. Also my engine light came on today.

The vehicle has a purge valve or other issue that is very common that causes the car to shut off after filling up gas. This leads to vehicles shutting off in the middle of the road, losing control of steering and acceleration as well as other powered things, since the car shuts off.

K frame front and rear is rotted. My car won't pass inspection. Needs manifold style catalytic converter. Needs to be replaced. Won't pass inspection. Car stalls out in traffic every time we refuel.

Every time I fuel up vehicle it stalls leaving the gas station. Usually only a few hundred feet , it shuts down , I have to quickly put it into park and restart the engine. I now only put in 8 gals when its low on the gauge. Since then it wont stall. The car was accelerating leaving the station stopping in front of coming traffic.

When I put gas in the car the first 20 mintues the car turns off when in motion on any street but only in those 20 mintues. After the 20 mintues the car is fine and it says it has no errors and it doesn't turn off.

The 2007 Jeep Compass purchased as my daughters first car has experienced stalling issues upon refueling from day one. The car was serviced by the selling dealership, brandon Honda, on several occasions and no repair was deemed necessary. I was advised the car was also sent to a neighboring Jeep dealer and the issue could not be duplicated. I then took the car to a different Jeep dealer, jerry ulm and was advised the issue was identified with the first code returned. The canister and solenoid was replaced in 5/16 and the car did not stall again until December. A couple of weeks ago upon refueling the car stalled again. The car has stalled three more times and is scheduled to be serviced at jerry ulm again tomorrow. There are hundreds of similar complaints online, yet no recall has been issued for this extreme safety issue. My concern for the safety and reliability of this car is at an all time high due to the reoccurrence and no warning of the stall- the car just shuts down silently. I appreciate your time.

Jeep Compass stalls after refueling in motion on highway, steering locks up when car stalls and makes Jeep uncontrollable. Had Jeep towed to dealer and they found a bad charcoal canister was "full of fuel" replaced canister drove for one week and refueled managed to go 1 mile and Jeep stalled again at about 45 mph . On Tuesday of last week a weird noise was coming from the engines hike driving around town and after taking it to a local dealership/service repair center the issue was in my transmission and it needed to be replaced completely. . . The vehicle's engine has a consistent tendency to sputter, hesitate, and/or completely shut-off, especially after fueling. This has happened on busy roadways and and intersections. We have attempted to have the problem diagnosed and repaired but I quickly realized they had no idea what the real problem was and was employing a shot-in-the-dark method.
