One problem related to other fuel system pump has been reported for the 2011 Jeep Compass. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle was not accelerating properly. Bucking and jerking for the first approx. 500' of acceleration. Very unsafe when pulling out into traffic. Acted as if it were out of gas, then would finally kick in. The problem was reported 1/22/13, and a computer update was performed by the dealership. The problem occurred again. The vehicle was brought to the dealership 1/31/13 and the dealership couldn't find a problem. Returned the vehicle to owner. The vehicle continuously had this problem, however, it was random and could not be re-created by the dealer. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership 4/5/13. A test drive was performed with the owner for 106 miles, but the problem could not be recreated. The vehicle kept randomly failing to accelerate. Finally, on 4/11/13, the vehicle was not accelerating properly and the dealership was able to witness the problem. Dealership replaced fuel pump. So far the issue has not re-occurred, however, this report is being filed in order to notify the safety board of potential safety issue and danger to public. This driver was nearly killed because of the vehicles failure to accelerate in high speed traffic. The dealership's refusal to find a problem when "no computer codes" would come up didn't help. This report was written by the owner.
