Three problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 2012 Jeep Compass. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2012 Jeep Compass engine shuts down while driving on city streets and county roadways. Loss of power and steering control. Engine will crank again after waiting for a few minutes. Check engine light comes on prior to shutting down.
Engine stutters when accelerating. The engine has done this for a couple years but is steady getting worse. Also check engine light came in with a catalyst system efficiency below threshold tank 1.
The first time, the check engine light went off I drove to the dealership and it was checked and returned, 2 weeks later the light turned on and the vehicle was taken back to the dealership, some oil applied to the connectors and returned. Yesterday, the light went off again while driving at 50mph, the vehicle stopped abruptly, the steering wheel didn't move and the engine stopped. Upon trying to restart the ignition, it kept starting by itself over and over. Now you can't accel the vehicle while in drive. The right strut was replaced on Feb 2012 because it broke.
