While attempting to do a u-turn on two different occiasions once the u-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a u-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly.
Auto start stop feature stop working and caused my car to stall. I had to set my car to stop, take my foot of the break. Re started my car, all while traffic was going, in danger of getting rear ended.
Uconnect radio screen has severe delamination. This caused ghost presses on the screen. The ghost presses continuously make random phone calls including calls to emergency services. This poses a severe safety hazard as the operator has to pick their phone up to communicate with emergency personnel so law enforcement does not send a responding officer thinking there’s an emergency. It also poses a safety hazard for responding emergency personnel trying to respond to the false emergency notification.
Car shakes when on hill hadly.
While driving Jeep losses power and stops. At garage now and they can’t find reasonable explanation. Has less than 50k miles. Danger while driving since it just shuts off while no lights come on to indicate problems.
Auto stop/start will malfunction and show a message saying to cut the car off and start it again. This poses a huge safety issue as it can cause an accident from not starting up and shutting off when it stops. Car also says “please park safely car will shut off soon”. My alternator has been checked and the aux battery and regular battery have been replaced as well so they are unable to figure out why I’m getting this message.
The engine malfunctioned on the freeway causing my brother to have to pull to the side as safely as possible. The engine was smoking and all of the electrical systems started to fail. It said it was overheating.
Unknown the screen on my Jeep Compass has gone dark I can't see anything to let me know what functions are happening I have spoken to Jeep and they said I have to replace the unit at over $2000. I believe its a dangerous situation. Can someone please help me.
2017 Jeep Compass has been having an issue with either the start-stop mechanism or the brakes. I was at a single lane red light. The engine went through the start-stop sequence, but when the light turned green and I released the brake, the car struggled to come to life at all and began to stall out. I had to wiggle the steering wheel and shift the gears to multiple places before returning it to drive and thankfully being able to keep moving. I turned the feature off in my car to prevent it from having any further issues while I just made it to work and back home. When I got to the next light and stepped on the brake, I heard a sound and when I looked down and noticed that the parking brake had engaged on its own. Fortunately I was near the dealership, but I was terrified that I was not going to make it there even. After keeping it over night and test driving it, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle at all. This is not the first time this has happened and we took the Jeep to the dealership only to be told that there was nothing they could find wrong with it. I have found several other complaints by other people saying the same exact thing. They are having this issue and when they take it to their service center, they are being told it is fine. This is not fine, and the fact that there has been absolutely nothing done about this simply because there hasn't been any evidence is ridiculous. This is truly unacceptable and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Period. There is something seriously wrong with it that no mechanics seem to be able to pinpoint whatever the issue is.
My sun roof exploded while I was driving on the highway. It was closed and my cover was on, which stopped the glass from coming inside and hitting me or my 1 yr old son.
Unknown a frame cracked in half on passenger side.
Known Jeep problem- my screen is delaminating which is causing the radio stations to change, climate to turn on and off, phone calls to be made, etc. All whilst the vehicle is in motion, creating distractions.
I have done some research and found others that say they got the radio relaced for free because it is a safety hazzard. The radio chooses options on its own such as the climate options and you can't change it when it happens. I can't keep the sos app on the radio because it randomly chooses it. I have to keep it turned off and there are some things you cannot use without the radio. It controls all of the driver assist options.
Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13. 4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will not let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!.
Touch screen on radio/dash is delaminating causing ghost touches. The delamination has caused issues with ac/heating since it glitches and presses what it wants.
The uconnect system screen malfunctions and the screen turns black at times. The system can also make random loud noises while driving. The screen will also keep the backup camera on while you are in drive and cause a major distraction if you look at it. The uconnect screen also has delamination and has bubblin on the screen which is a common problem across many Jeep-Dodge-ram-Chrysler models between the years of 2017-2019 with the research I have found. In my car it causes ghost movements and screen locking ehich can be incredibly dangerous and distracting.
Delamination of uconnect radio causing multiple electronic malfunctions on vehicle, causing a safety issue. Problem has been reproduced and was confirmed by dealership on November 5th 2021. Issue first started in February of 2020.
My vehicle continually stalls when driving or at stop lights. Sometimes it will start back up other times I have to have it towed.
Was towed into shop on 4/13/20 Jeep would not start, the dealer said it was the battery. Took to shop on 3/9/21 the Jeep was stalling out at red light and would not start back up, it took several times to start on a busy highway! dealer said oil was low and did a consumption test! on 8/17/21 the Jeep stalled at a busy light and would not start back up, I had to call 911 to get a officer behind me so I wouldn’t get hit, I had to tow the Jeep back to the dealer . The dealer said the oil was low again . On 10/4/21 the Jeep stalled out again at the light and would not start it took me over 5 minutes to get it stated! the only light that came up was the transmission need service now, the dealer look at the Jeep and said it was both batteries gone bad! my concern is it keeps stalling out at lights in drive and will not start back up! which puts myself at risk of being hit from behind! another thing is when this happens there is no warning lights coming up to let me know what is wrong!.
My vehicle went from not being able to control acceleration or accelerate and making a strange sound while in motion while the rpm was steady going up, to not accelerating at all while in motion, to not shifting gears, to not doing anything in less than 24 hours. I was on the highway when I first noticed all of the problems. I had to pull on side of the road multiple times. It was scary and dangerous being on side of the road as a woman at night with very little lighting in the area. When the vehicle didn't want to do anything at all it was parked.
My Jeep Compass is having issues starting. I have had to take it to the mechanic twice in the past 3 weeks because it keeps not starting! I've tried jumping the battery and nothing. If it sits just one day without it being started, it will go completely dead and won't take a jump. As of right now, my mechanic doesn't even know what's wrong.
While pulling off from a stop, the electronic parking brake turns on by itself. This has occurred multiple times, typically on flat city street at a red light or stop sign. The only way to get the car to drive is to restart the engine, but this sometimes takes a few times to start.
2nd time I've gone outside of my home to start my car and the car does not start, this has happened twice. . . Then I google search it and see so many complaints of ppls car just not starting. This is the second time this has happened to me. Nothing was left on is my car, just like so many other ppl who've had and reported this same issue. This is not right Jeep needs to be held accountable!.
A pebble smaller than a pea went through the grill and put a whole in the ac /defrost compressor which also houses the transmission coolant costing over $ 600 to replace. Very cheap material to be punctured by a tiny pebble and very poor design to leave such a fragile part unprotected.
We've experienced random stalling and excess oil consumption. We've brought to dealer under the warranty - they initially confirmed excess oil consumption but then pulled back on it. They are unable to replicate the random stalling and therefore won't address even though it's a tremendous safety risk as it happens while the vehicle is in motion on a public roadway. Emails and service records can be provided upon request. Most recent stall date provided below.
When stopped at a stop light with the engine in gear (drive) there will be a vibration coming from the engine compartment. If you shift into park or neutral it will stop. It only vibrates at an idle while in gear once you start moving it stops.
Electrical system problem Jeep completely stops with no warning due to intermittent electrical failure.
While driving I got a code on the car dash that read something like unable to drive then as turning the bend in road at 20/25mph the car started pulling to left steering the wheel became too hard and I heard a snap noise turns out my ball joint snapped on the Jeep! over 5000 in damage and it was not due to impact! it snapped clean off then ended up causing my to swop a parked car. Thankfully wasn't on highway your 2017 Compasses have severe electrical issues the car doesn't go right away when shifted to desired gear and on top of it all your ball joints are faulty! claim responsibility and recall this I've seen a lot of open source reporting of the same issue. Please do not wait until a mortality occurs for you to do something! assemble these care correctly!!! I will not be buying or driving another Jeep again the new model Compasses aren't safe for anyone. Oddly prior to the accident the car has been at jim shorkey dealership every 2 months or so for some repair from sway bars to tire rods and everything else. Less than 26,000 miles on it. Scheduled an appt to take it to the dealer last Thursday the appointment was scheduled for Tuesday 3/17 but the accident ended up occurring 3/14. . . Only if the dealer had let me bring it sooner this wouldn't have happened.
I purchased a 2017 Jeep Compass in December 2019, from a major nationwide rental agency, with a 36 month warranty. I was driving the vehicle at 530am, in darkness, at 65 mph in a straight direction, in the middle lane of a major highway, when the engine abruptly shut off. I was able to make to to the shoulder of the road, but with difficulty because the power steering had stopped working as well. The vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a Jeep dealership, where the warranty would not cover the full repair.
The start/stop feature causes my car to stall. The emergency brake would automatically get enabled and I basically can't get my car to move until I put my car in park, disable to the emergency brake and turn my car on and off. This feature is such an inconvenience due to the chance of stalling at every stop light/intersection. This increases the chances of getting rear ended. In addition, today my front collision warning + brakes got activated while I was in motion without anything in front of me. Again, another possibility of getting rear ended.
When putting the car in reverse it would go straight untill it kicked back in gear. On highway gear switched on its own slowed down and kicked back in. I could of got in s major accident. I just brought the car on 01/17/2020.
2 times the same incident occurred 6 months apart, once in June 2019 mileage 22046 and once in December 2019 mileage 28423. Bought the car brand new in 2017. Oil is dissappearing!! the oil pressure low light will flash on - there is a loss of power - while driving - no warning! then the light will go off. Drive to oil change business to have them check the oil level and the Jeep will be 3 to 3. 5 quarts low. No leak present or oil seen. Engine seems to slip while driving before this happens.
I had a safety issue with my 2017 Jeep Compass that I am currently leasing. The car would stop and shut down on its own without warning or any lights turning on. It had to do with the parking brake as well. When I brought it to the north haven, CT dealership to get fixed, they said they were unable to fix it and had to contact Chrysler. Chrysler told them what to do. The dealership did as told and it resolved the issue--something about the battery. When I was informed about what happened, I asked why there was no warning or check engine light going off alerting me that something was not right. The person at the dealership said well once you notice things aren't working well, then it's probably a battery issue. Bring it back in. how is this acceptable? there is no warning that my car is going to just stop as I am driving. I just have to wait until other things go wrong to determine if it is maybe a battery issue? that is unheard of. The dealership had my car for almost a week, did not give me a loaner, but said I could rent a car at a low cost. Rent a car? I am not going to pay money for a car when mine is still under warranty. And when asked if there was a recall regarding this issue, the person at the dealership said no, they only do recalls when it is a safety issue. so when my Jeep automatically shut down on a road with a speed limit of 55, that's not a safety issue? I am completely unsatisfied with my experience resolving this issue, and to be honest, I cannot say that it is resolved because there will be no warning as to whether or not it is going to happen again. The product is not safe apparently because there is no indication as to when the battery needed to be serviced. When I went to the dealership and requested safer car, the manager said they could not do anything, accepting the fact that I drive an unsafe car.
While at a red light, the Compass went into auto stop. When my foot released the brake, the car shuttered, a light appeared and it appeared to stall. I could not accelerate and had to brake, park the vehicle, turn it off and back on (in the middle of a busy intersection). The next morning, while driving on the expresswayn the vehicle did not appear affected, but a different light came on indicating collision warning was turned off. It did not go off until the car was turned off and did not appear to pop back up. Later that same day, while driving on the expressway with cruise control going about 76 mph in the left hand lane, the vehicle shuttered, and appeared to stall. The same light turned on. I was able to coast the vehicle to the right hand shoulder, then it off and turn it back on. Pictures of the lights have been included.
Auto stop failed to restart vehicle while stopped at stop light. Parking brake engaged and car was unable to move. Had to put car in park and turn off vehicle. Then had to restart to continue driving.
