In middle of driving, the vehicle suddenly shifts out of gear and won’t accelerate, multiple warning lights appear in dash all at the same time and car at times the vehicle won’t even turn off.
My gas pedal stuck flat to the floor and the plastic gas pedal broke causing me to hit a cement pillar in front of knick trip.
I have been experiencing the same issues with the high temperature warning as mentioned for the 2019-2021 Jeep Compass. If this occurs at higher speeds, I am able to release the accelerator, and coast for 2-3 seconds, which allows the temp to show back to normal, and continue normal driving conditions. If this occurs as I begin accelerating from a stop, the car will stall, requiring me to put the car in park, turn it off, turn it back on, then continue driving.
I will be driving and suddenly the car stops. The parking break comes on and the car won't start. Takes awhile to get it restarted. It seems dangerous and as I've googled seems like a problem all across the board not just me.
Daughter was driving. Came to a stop sign, proceeded through after stopping and the the car's accelerator wouldn't work and the car stalled in the middle of the intersection. She had to turn if off and it started back up after a few "weird" sounds. Took it to a shop we trust, they checked it quickly and couldn't find a reason. Checked the battery:fine. Checked the oil: was low, told to return soon for oil. This incident was repeated the next day. She stopped driving it, dropped it off at the same shop. The shop inspected throughly, found to have no oil in the engine. Have been advised to add oil to this car every 1000-1500 miles to keep it safe.
The week after I purchased it, the warning for my eco fuel came on and then service engine light. I was traveling at 45 mph and it instructed me to pull safely to the side of the road. Before I could do so, the car seized and jerked to a halt at a slowing speed of 10pm. The car had to be towed, “reset”. Since then I get the same alerts, the car will not accelerate when this happens and then slowly declines and shut down.
The Jeep says high coolant temperature even after adding much coolant. Car shuts off while driving on the streets and highways.
I believe I received a faulty vehicle from brooklyn Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, ram. Located at 2286 flatbush Ave, brooklyn, NY 11234. I received this vehicle in October 2021 with a dead battery and a faulty engine. I returned the vehicle, and services claimed to fix all the issues. The next day my car completely shuts down on the highway in the middle of traffic nearly causing an accident. I immediately contacted Jeep to let them know my concerns. Since, the car has completely shut down in the middle of me driving multiple times. This is creating a hazardous environment for myself and others. I returned the car to Jeep and told them I am no longer comfortable driving this vehicle especially since I got it within reasonable mileage (18k). I was told that if I wanted to give the vehicle back I would have to pay $10,000 to do so. I expressed that I was not pleased with that amount. They then told me there was nothing they can do for me and I should get a lawyer to dispute this matter. Leaving me emotionally distressed and scared for my safety and the safety of others. I truly believe this car can get in a major car accident due to its condition.
My name is dymetrius ware dl #w600159886182, I live in detroit michigan 48219, about August 2022 I purchased a used 2018 Jeep compas. About late November 2022 I was driving on the drive free way and the I got a quick dashboard reading high coolant temperature and the vehicle started slowing down, I push the gas pedal and the car, accelerate it. I truly thought I did not have any radiator fluid in the radiator so I put the gas station and brought radiator fluid and put it into the vehicle. In December 2022 I was coming from basketball practice in the evening with a cold evening and I had the heat up in the ventilation of both up to high and I got to a stop sign the car * at the stop sign. From that point it had to be towed to a dealership feldman Chevrolet in livonia michigan after three days in the shop I was told that there was nothing wrong but the vehicle needed a new battery. I had no issue with the vehicle john tyler summer of 2022 since the winter of 2023 the vehicle have stopped on me three times with the same high coolant temperature too high, showing up on the dashboard engine shut down momentarily after I put my foot on the gas pedal again. It continues to drive, I notice it only happens when my heater is on and my temperature is high and my fan is hot inside the vehicle the last time wise about March 7, 2023. I am taking my vehicle to the Chrysler dealership in lavonia in livonia, michigan. On Monday March 27,2023.
My car lost acceleration on NJ garden state highway driving 65 miles. Luckily I was driving in the right lane as this happened. I quickly flashed my hazards as soon as I noticed, to alert drivers behind me. My car slowly moved onto the side of the highway. My breaks would not fully stop the car. It finally stopped on its own luckily. I stayed on the side of the road for about a few good long mins trying to figure out what to do or who to call. I then tried turning on the car again to see if it would start. It turned on and the oil warning blinked for like one second. That was it. Never stayed on like other cars do. Not one warning beforehand. From my experience of owning other cars, if your car is running low on oil, a warning light comes on and stays on until the oil is changed. Not this car, only this one second. I was heading into nyc and I just prayed my car wouldn’t shut down on me again until I got to my destination. Luckily got home safe and made an appointment to a mechanic. They told me my car consumes more oil than the average car and therefore I would have to change it more frequently. This is the reason my car malfunctioned. How is this safe? especially that the car doesn’t give a warning, this has given me so much anxiety. I could have gotten into a major accident. Now I have to guess whether I’ve driven x amount of miles and now I have to change the oil. Such a safety hazard.
Car is under 40k miles. Was turning and the car took off on its own. Rapidly accelerating until the car flashed emergency electronic throttle control. It took off so fast I had to drive off the road to avoid slamming into someone. The breaks would not slow it downs the scariest thing that has happened in ten years off driving. The car had a complete mind of its own and hadn’t shown any signs of problems with this previously.
Since I bought the car is having problem with the oil I sent to the place where I bought they said is all cars 2018 Jeep Compass having a problem with the oil need to be change every 1000 mile (it does it couple of times) when I drive the car on highways or on the road car began to slow down in its own, then I have manually restart the vehicle after a few minutes, starts normally.
Vehicle only had 25000 miles and had electric issues, acceleration issues, stop and go would stall in the middle of driving putting me and my child in danger. Only going a high of 50 on the freeway then slowing. This has happened multiple times, plus replacing 2 batteries a year since having the car. I have sent information to corporate. Items have clearly been documented but nothing done to solve the issue that continues.
1) 10/29/2020 I was driving on the highway with the cruse control on when the car made a loud thump, jumped out cruse control, shut off, check engine light came on. After sitting for a bit, car started but would not go over 25 mpr back to town. At the signal light, when stopped, the car started to go in reverse. Was able to stop it again, and got it to dealership. They said it needed a computer update. 2) 12/06/2020 1 month later, driving on the highway home from work at night, car did it again, check engine light came on. I was able to get the car to the side of the road. After sitting, it started, but would not run over 25 mpr. And this time at signal light stopped, the car surged forward and almost hit the car in front. The car is going back to the dealership ASAP. This car is very dangerous.
I was on the way home from purchasing a used 2018 Jeep Compass with 24000 miles and the vehicle died twice within a couple of minutes when we pulled off the I interstate to get some food. It was when we were just coasting into our destination. The Compass's parking brake light then came on and a dash message read "vehicle cannot shift while moving" or something to that extent. It then turned over multiple times before starting but drove fine for the remainder of the drive home. Hoping this does not continue through the life of the vehicle.
Turning right onto a street and my car completely shut off - I had to stop completely and cut it back on then my low oil pressure like came on. Once we got the vehicle home and checked the oil we realized it was very dangerously low and this was in between 5,000 mile oil changes . . . We had to add oil to get it to the mechanic shop just to get the car looked at. This has happened again since and I have taken it to the dealership.
My wife and her aunt were driving at 70-75, then it felt like when a governor kicks on. If that makes sense. At the same time the check engine light came on. Since I was already going that fast I couldn't really tell, but I thought it felt like I couldn't accelerate. Then after they stop for groceries and began driving again they couldn't get it to go over 30. Drove on the shoulder to the next exit. It felt like it wouldn't shift out of first gear to accelerate. I even tried sport mode to manually do it & it still wouldnt. Then they pulled over and let cool briefly it was working again. When my wife finally made it home I plugged in my portable code reader to see what tripped the service engine light and the code was for transmission control module. I bought this vehicle last year with 5000 miles on it, currently it has 25,000. This is absolutely ridiculous!! and then reading the other issues people are having this vehicle sounds like a death trap waiting to happen! my family and friends will never purchase Dodge products again, junk.
I own a manual 2018 Jeep Compass with around 14,000 miles. This has happened twice now. I noticed, and not sure if it is a coincidence or not, after the car has idled a bit. Each time the car makes a terrible rattling noise. The car loses power, has no pick up, goes limp. It is a manual, and when I put it in 1st or 2nd gear, it will not go above 2rpms on the dial. I usually shift when it gets to 3. No warning lights of any kind come on. I managed to get it not to stall on the highway, but both times I have not had to stop at a light or anything. Both times I let it sit overnight, and it was fine in the morning. After the first time I took it to the dealership and they found nothing. I have contacted Chrysler and have a case number.
While driving on highway the engine light came on and the vehicle began to pull back and jerk as if it were trying to slow down. Continued for a few miles to Jeep dealer which happened to be on that highway. The technicians explained that the engine light came on so as a safety precaution the vehicle restricts the speed by pulling back when you try to accelerate. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and they are unable to find any code that indicate a problem and they are unable to replicate the issue.
Problemas con el check engine se enciende la luz del panel y la luz DE la transmisin.
I lease my 2018 Jeep Compass. On four occasions the car has stalled and not been able to operate. Two of the stalling has been in traffic while the car was in motion (highway and intersection). Everytime I take the car in for service the dealership can't duplicate the problem. It did stall again at the dealership so I left it again. On all the occasions dealer had a look they said it was a part that needed to be repaired, then a software update. Then saying they left too much cleaner. Just last week I picked up my car from dealership with a full tank. I drove 100 miles miles and the fuel indicator did not move at all. I know when I have a full tank of gas I have a total range of 326 miles. Then the total range number kept fluctuating. At one point it said I had 328 miles left then went down to 200 then back up to 300 all within 6 miles of driving with a 3/4 tank full. Therefore it wasn't accurate. I took the car back in and dealership said it was due to a software update but I just had a software update last week. At this point I don't feel safe driving this car and I fear for my safety and am scared for the next time my car decides to stop while driving. It is unsafe and a hazard to myself and others.
My vehicle sounds like it's down shifting when driving between 40 & 50 miles and it has cut off on me several times when tuning the corners and something always sounds like it's rattling. I've taken it several times to the dealership and because no codes pop up they want to charge me to inspect it. I've complained about these issues since I've purchased it. There have been times when all of my functions light up or it tells me my key is not in the vehicle when it's in plain site. This happens when I'm driving on the street or freeway.
While car is in motion engine will stall at red lights / intersections, car will state:put car in drive but car is in drive, low oil pressure warning will illuminate when turning right then disappear, check engine light will flash then turn off. Car may stall, lose power, emergency brake warning, no gas pedal response. I researched this problem and it appears that the crankshaft position sensor could be faulty. . . Car is 2018 with 21,000 miles. . . Cps should not be faulty at this low mileage/age of vehicle. . . Seems to be a common complaint across Jeep Compass vehicles of multiple years. . . . . Recall Jeep vehicles for faulty crankshaft position sensor. . . . Happens at highway speeds as well, car loses power and steering ability. . . . . Dangerous.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. While the contact was merging into highway traffic, the accelerator pedal suddenly became stuck and caused the vehicle to accelerate. During the failure, the speed increased to more than approximately 80 mph and several warning indicators illuminated, including the service engine and throttle. The accelerator pedal eventually became unstuck and the vehicle was shut off. After restarting the engine, the sensor warnings were no longer illuminated and the vehicle operated normally. Falls motor city (4100 state rd, cuyahoga fall, OH) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 46,817.
Over the past week, I have had about 10 instances where my new (6 month old - ~5k mile) Jeep Compass died in the middle of driving. I was unable to accelerate, move, or anything. The only action I could do was to brake. During a handful of these instances, I was in a parking garage, gas station or on a side street where I was able to safely pull over and figure out how to resolve the issue. The other times, I was driving to/from work in the city of boston. These events were extremely terrifying and there was nothing I could have done without warning to prevent being stuck immobile in these intersections. When this happens, I have to put the car in park, remove the parking brake (which automatically turns on while driving), then shut off the car, then turn on the car again (where the engine turns over a few times first), then it's "good" to drive again. I took the car to my Jeep dealer (where I purchased the vehicle) to have the issue inspected/oil changed. As a result, they concluded that the engine on my Jeep has an unresolvable issue from the manufacturer where the engine burns oil more than advertised, unlike the 2016 version of this vehicle. They confirm that no message or engine light code appeared, and the only way to prevent this would be to check the oil constantly. They showed a print out from their system that stated my car has 5 quarts of oil, and each 1 quart of oil should last ~5k miles. Therefore, the oil should not be low enough to stall an engine @ 6 months/5k miles. This is absolutely not acceptable in a new vehicle. I have no indication when a problem exists. If I received some sort of warning/dashlight (really anything), I would know the car is not safe to drive until an issue is addressed. However, this does not happen, so I have to manually check the oil when I have no expertise in doing so in order to identify the issue.
This is the third car I own, my first two cars were Honda and now I am currently driving a 2018 Jeep Compass. I have been driving this car since August, on 2/26/19 around 1:30pm I was driving for about 2 minutes when I stopped at a red light and my automatic stop/start turned my car off, I pressed the button and my car started again normally. As the light turned green I moved my foot from the break to the gas and my car did not move. I pressed the auto again and I still did not move, continued to put my car in park and nothing would work. I had to restart my car twice before it would move. This all happened while at a green light with cars behind me. On 2/27/19 at 2:45pm I started my car and while I was still driving pressed the auto stop/start, I get about 200 feet further before my car starts slowing down on its own and shut off. I waited some time before restarting my car. On 3/1/19 at 2:30pm I did not have auto stop/start on, I was driving for some time and my car started to slow down again so I pushed on the gas to accelerate, it would not accelerate and I was able to pull over to the side when my car came to a stop on its own and the emergency break light came on on its own. I waited some time again before restarting my car. I do not feel safe driving this car as it is dangerous to just stop on its own. ** please note the vehicle has approximately 2965 miles on it as of 3/2/19 *.
Car stalls randomly if oil is low . . . On highways, at intersections, while turning or at stop lights and stop signs. Problem started when vehicle only had 3000 miles. Brought it in for service and was told that this is normal behavior for this vehicle. They said the vehicle burns oil quickly and when it is low it stalls. This was a 17 birthday present for my daughter who had several near miss accidents before we figured out the problem.
Brakes are bad, have been since we got it. They lock up when u hit the brakes. Something was wrong with it when I drove it on the lot. Something rattleing in the front end. They stopped the rattle but brakes are a huge issue. No matter how light you tap them they lock up. When they are wet it is undrivable. Also engine revs up for no reason and the engine kill thing does not work right. Its not instantaneous. Lots of lag before you can move. . We have been back to the dealer right after we bought it to try to trade it for another one but no luck. I should have walked away when it was making the noise when I moved it on the lot. Specially after the way we were treated by the guy who did the paperwork when we declined the extra warranty. If he hadnt been a vet I wouldve walked away. The dealer has records of repairs they tried to make. The brakes have been bad since we bought it and the rest has been going on for a coulpa months now.
