Cruise Control problems of the 2018 Jeep Compass

While driving approximately 50 mph with the cruise control on, the engine light came on and said "service engine", the engine shut off and shortly after restarted on it's own. When it restarted it did not allow me to reach the previous speed and would not allow me to restart the cruise control system. It did finally let me reach a decent speed. I parked the car and then later started the car, it appeared to be normal, the cruise control worked again. At home I was able to reset the service engine light. This was dangerous because if there was a vehicle close behind me there would have been an accident.

Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would not properly acceletrate and the transmission would not properly change gears. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer keene Jeep located at 410 winchester st, keene, nh 03431 who replaced engine but the failures continued to occur. Also, while driving 35 mph with the cruise control activated the cruise control system would not deactivated causing the driver to crash into a tree stump. No injuries were reported, no police report was taken. The odor of coolant was also present inside the vehicle causing the driver to become ill. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer contemporary Jeep located at 30 hammond rd, milford, nh 03055 and the manufacturer was notified of the failures. . The failure mileage was 20,000. Jft.
