The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that check engine warning light had illuminated and there was thumping type noise coming from the front-end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the auxiliary battery which repaired the check engine light. The thumping noise emitting from the front-end of the vehicle had persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer who diagnosed the rack-n-pinon failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
Making a turn around and the car went over the curb barely at 20 mph or slower and then the car became in drivable. I have been told the rack and pinion is broken and that Jeep has a 700+ people waiting list for the part because there is a bug in the part and they refused to release it to the people so now I don't have a car to drive all because I ran over a curb going less than 20 mph.
