2 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

When starting the vehicle the error message comes on with the man holding the air bag and it comes on bigger in the dashboard too. And feels like the car runs hotter with this message on. If someone is riding in the passenger side and I get into an accident. It could be deadly for that person. So the area is on the passenger side. Yes spoke to the dealer at flow Volvo in greensboro nc, and she know about the problem of the car also. I do see in 2017 there was a patrolman that noted the kbb about the situation. Now I was no there so I do know abything about it,just read this on the kbb information for the car. And as I have stated when you start the car the the warning lamp with the man comes on small holding the air bag and in the dashboard also. Also uploading pictures of the warning lamps.

3 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

The seat belts on both sides of the rear seats have frayed completely through the belt webbing at the same exact point. Where the belts connects to the retractor I believe is the name of it. Both belts are entirely separated at the point where they pass through the outer wall. If my inspection station didn't notice the problem on the passenger rear they would not have looked at the driver's side rear which was not completely separated and any occupant could have seriously been hurt. The dealership inspected them and confirmed the damages described above and the manufacturer (Jeep) also was notified of this defect. They were no warning signs.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

Since 2023, my vehicle has had water leakage coming from the back right passenger side from the seat belt opening and right side of the back trunk. This is a major concern because my son’s car seat is seated on the right back seat where the water leakage is coming from. I don’t want any mold to grow under his car seat or on his car seat. Also I gave jumper cables in the back of my trunk for safety. What if they were to get soak and wet then they are not able to work. Also I put my groceries in the trunk of my car. I don’t want them to get spoiled or become contaminated.

8 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

The gear selection lights near the gear shift go on and off for no apparent reason. I can not see which gear I am in at night. I am afraid that this is indicative of a more serious electrical problem. I am still under warranty because I purchased added care plus from directly from Jeep that covers me through the end of December 2024. I took the vehicle to Jeep dealer ch urness motors in the dalles, oregon. The owner and service manager told me that my car "is not broken enough" for them to repair. The owner, tim urness, stated that they only repair items with warning lights and that they do not honor the added care plus warranties sold by Jeep dealers unless they've sold it. Additionally, my auto stop start battery is malfunctioning, and the engine is making a strange noise. Stellains Jeep cares is not responding to my calls concerning the warranty or getting the car towed to a different dealer for service. I live in a rural area, so I will need to travel 200 miles round trip to have my car serviced and I have been advised that I will need to make the trip at least twice to have the car first diagnosed, then serviced. I know that NHTSA does not normally handle these sorts of problems, but it is a safety issue, also I would like direction on where to report the dealership and stellantis for not making necessary safety repairs covered under warranty. I had a previous issue with the same car's seatbelt webbing and had to fight to get the repair made. Thank you.

12 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

The webbing on my passenger side seat belt is inexplicably worn and ripped. It looks as if it became worn over time by the seat belt latch vibrating against it. The webbing fabric may have been irregular too. It is very strange, I will attach photos. I don't know when or how the damage occurred because I rarely have passengers in my vehicle. It was discovered yesterday when I did have a rider. The damage is too high up on the belt to have been chewed by the dog. The dog has never been left unattended in the car, is too small to have reached the belt, and is secured in the back seat with a harness and locking tether while traveling. One dealer, c. H. Urness motors in the dalles, or, wanted to charge me over $300 for repair and make me wait 3 months for the part despite my car being under warranty. They offered to expediate the process to five days for an additional fee. Supposedly the part is out of stock but for and additional charge, it can become "in stock" in five days. University auto in ellensberg, wa is attempting to make the repairs under warranty. I should hear back from them in the next few days. I am concerned that I can not safely transport passengers until the repair is made, that one dealer is attempting to overcharge and make me wait for the repair, and that there may be an issue with the manufacture of the seatbelt itself. Thank you.

13 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 10/26/2020

Radio stops working when it wants and then comes back on, but only a few stations end up working then after. Only wants to work 40% of the time. Have not been to the dealer ship yet. Also the passenger seat when there is an actually passenger in the seat says there is not and the Jeep dings the whole car ride, even though they are buckled up. The car thinks that they are not.

15 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/06/2020

Both the passenger and diver seat belts don't latch correctly. Causing them to randomly un-latch while driving or even just initially trying to latch them when getting in. There is no odd movements causing this and they sound and act as if there is no problem until the un-latch. Have had a mechanic look into it and they confirmed that isn't not an every time failure but they are unsure as to why it works and then doesn't since it functions as it's supposed to. The only warning I get for this is the unbuckled light/sound after the incident happens.

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 10/22/2019

Drivers seat belt randomly unlocks when traveling at any speed and on various road surfaces. I travel less than 2 miles to work and total on average about 20 miles/week. It has even happened on the highway while going 65mph (was not adjusting my position or moving in anyway). I purchased my 2016 Compass 4 months ago, and this has happened over 2 dozen times. It is also happening more frequently. I know the seat belt is clicked in properly because the alarm & dashboard light turn off. I hope it is investigated ASAP before is causes serious injury or fatality.

21 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

Driver side seat belt latch is not latching to the buckle. While putting seat belt on it disengages from the latch system completely. Several attempts to re-secure the buckle into the latch continues to allow the seat buckle to become unlatched. Extremely unsettling as while operating my vehicle knowing my seat belt comes undone at any time. Nothing is touching the buckle or latch system to cause the unbuckle at any time. Have checked by looking into the latch system to ensure no debris is inside.

The passenger seat belt mechanism does not lock. It appears to be locked in but when you pull on it, it does not stay in the locked position. In the event of an accident the passenger will not be protected. My sons friend was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and it came unbuckled when they came to a stop at a light. I do not see any recalls at this time and have found complaints to Chrysler about the problem with no resolution.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/19/2019

Right now it doesn't run because the brain went out while I was driving back to work from lunch. There's no response to the vehicle and the other day it completely stopped dead while I was driving 65 on my way home from work. To top my matters off with this vehicle it's had the cruise control recalled and replaced and many other parts it's a terrible vehicle. To top my stress with it my seatbelt doesn't lock when it's supposed to so if I wreck looks like I'm going through the windshield. I honestly wish I could afford another vehicle because mine I feel is going to be the death of me. I have a video of what it was doing before it completely shut down can't upload any pictures because it wouldn't do justice.

30 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 02/28/2019

I was involved in an accident on February 28, 2019 when I veered off into a ditch, my vehicle flew into the air after hitting a driveway, and flipped at about 55 mph. I was driving on a rural farm to market road. I was driving and the only one in the vehicle. My seatbelt never locked as I wrecked. It was buckled but never engaged. I submitted to Jeep for review and they denied my claim and said the seatbelt was working properly. My seatbelt was all the way stretched out and even frayed at the top where the loop is. My l1 instantly blew up into my spinal cord and I suffered severe injuries.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

The passenger seat belt does not seem to full engage when I click my seat belt. I had noticed when we came to a sudden stop while driving to a nearby store and the self belt came undone right after I had clicked it in. Thankfully the convenience store is only a mile or so away on a main highway route. I strongly believe this is a safety issue and since then have made sure to double check by pulling on it to see if it's fully engaged. There are time where it'll keep coming undone and I have to keep clicking it on until it fully engaged.

32 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 08/08/2018

About 10 days ago, my Jeep Compass was involved in an incident where I had to apply my brakes all of the sudden, as a deer jumped right in front of my vehicle, out of bushes. As I was applying brakes, the abs brakes did not engage, as my brake pedal did not tap back, and when Jeep finally stopped, driver seatbelt did not lock, as it should have, and I have hit my head on the ceiling, at the point where it meets the windshield. The incident has reoccurred with seatbelt failing to lock again, today, 10 days after the issue was reported to Jeep officials, who have failed to take immediate and appropriate action in this potential life threatening matter. As I have excreted all available resources of getting help in this incident resolution,I kindly ask u. S. Government to take charge of this issue and investigate in an appropriate matter, as I may be not the only owner affected by the driver seatbelt failure and this issue needs to be addressed before possible fatalities occur related to similar vehicles being involved in actual mvas and driver seatbelt not engaging the locking mechanism, when needed. As in both incidents mentioned above, my vehicle was in motion coming to a complete stop as a result of brake pedal application. Both incidents took place on rural roads with average speed limit of 45mph.

33 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Jeep Compass

The vehicle jerks on acceleration or loses power and the engine bucks and sputters while in motion. When rolling up windows while stationary the lights dim or engine sputters. This has happened off and on for the past two years. Only recently has is scared me because I was about to pull out into oncoming traffic. I was told by the dealership in chantilly, va there is nothing wrong with my engine. My passenger seatbelt gets stuck after being engaged. I had it replaced in fall 2012 at a dealership in woodbridge, va. I still have this issue and the new dealership will not replace it because it already was in 2012.

"Jeep Compass recall". Good afternoon, I was unaware that my Jeep is under a recall. I haven't received anything in the mail regarding the recall. My address hasn't changed and I haven't heard anything in writing about my Jeep's recall. I would at least like a letter explaining my recall so I can get this taken care of as soon as possible.
