52 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

Recall for occupant restraint controller failure was announced by Chrysler over 2 years ago and I received a notice in the mail over a year ago that my 2011 Jeep Compass was included in this recall. This means that my seat belt and front airbags may not deploy in the case of an accident, leaving me and my family subject at an increase for severe injury or fatality. I have inquired about a repair and was told by my local dealer, capital Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge that the fix had not been released yet but they had scheduled it for a fix of this problem (4/4/17) while it was in for another issue. They then told me that the fix had not been released by mopar, not that the parts were not available. It requires replacement of the occupant restraint controller (orc). Is this a part that is not available or is it a cost factor for Chrysler at my expense? then, I received on 4/15/17 a card in the mail marked "urgent" from mopar (copy attached). It indicated that I had not gotten my car recall repaired and to contact my dealer immediately to get my orc replaced. I contacted capital and was informed that the part had not been released yet and that the card had been mailed to me from mopar. I then called mopar on 4/20/17 and was told there was not a fix yet and that they would contact me when there was. This does not make sense. Why did I receive the card in the mail and why is there such a mix up. Not that I am planning to be in an accident but this lack of safety restraints really frightens me and could have catastrophic consequences. Please investigate this issue. I am attaching a copy of the card, front and back, that I received from mopar.

53 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/12/2017

I am writing to make you aware that Jeep is not producing a solution to recall 16v-668 in a timely manner. With such a serious problem as passenger airbag and seatbelt, the issue should be fixed by now. I conversed with Jeep/mopar today and they stated there is no fix at this time. The issue was posted to the VIN on October 1, 2016. If you could please investigate why this is taking so long and possibly speed the process up, that would be wonderful. We do not let our children nor anyone else ride as passengers in the car because of this problem and it is a big inconvenience. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day.

56 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 03/12/2017

The front passenger seat belt malfunctions when a person is sitting in the seat. I have taken the vehicle several times to the dealer & it is still not corrected. I have an open investigation with Chrysler corporate too. Corporate has acknowledged there is a serious problem with all 2016 Jeep Compass seat belts on the front passenger side but still expect people to drive their vehicles knowing there is a problem & they say the vehicle is unsafe to drive. If a person is sitting in the seat the alarm will go off indicting the seat belt needs to be fastened when in fact it is. It will also think a person has a seat belt on while the vehicle is in motion when they really don't. I have video of this & eyewitnesses. I have question the airbag linkage to the seatbelt malfunctioning if it can cause the airbag to fail or malfunction & corporate is unsure if this is possible. I have actually tried to trade the vehicle & cannot because all other dealers are aware of this issue and refuse to take it. I have been fighting this since I have owned the vehicle which I bought March 2016. After I bought it I took it back to the dealer within an hour & a half and informed them of the seat belt issue and they blew it off and have continued to blow it off until corporate got involved but both sides can't fix or figure out the problem & will not take the vehicle back on trade as they have admitted it is an unsafe vehicle due to the seatbelt on the front passenger side. I am also having issues with the fuel economy as it is significantly less than what was advertised and what is posted on corporate's website. I have receipts and video to show as proof. The dealer blows this off too & refuses to look into it. Corporate has no comment on the fuel economy. It's advertised to get 30 on the highway & I barely get 24-25. All issues with the seatbelt has been while driving above 15mph.

57 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

I received a recall for a defective seat belt and air bag assembly in my 2012 Jeep Compass weeks ago. Because this vehicle is used in a fleet capacity, I pulled it from service immediately. I talked to Dodge and was told there is no remedy at this time. I then asked for a loaner vehicle until my vehicle was safe to drive and was told that Dodge doesn't have a rental program for recalls. I don't know how this manufacture doesn't have a plan to rectify an inconvenience that their customers have to go through regarding a problem that wasn't the customers fault to begin with. I'm very unhappy Dodge treats customers like this.

Received safety recall notice on 10/1/16 for my 2014 Jeep Compass latitude 4x4, it is now 1/5/17 and I haven't received any further information on when the recalled parts will be replaced. 69 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 12/19/2016

A recall was issued on these two parts, recall s 61, on October 1st 2016. I received no notification on this recall until I went to sell my car to a dealership on 12/19/2016. I called Chrysler customer service and was told there will not be a remedy for this situation until April 2017. Jeep, and it's parent company, isn't displaying the type of urgency I should see associated with a recall that could cause physical harm to my wife or I, while operating the vehicle. Now, I'm stuck paying for a car I no longer need and will not drive because of the safety issue.

70 Seat Belt problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 12/16/2016

I owned a 2014 Jeep Compass until December 2016. I received a recall notice from Chrysler of issues with airbags and seatbelts making the vehicle unsafe to operate according to me and the automobile insurance company. After conversations with the dealership closes to my home, I was told parts to correct the problem were not available and the date for the parts availability were undetermined. I was left with the choice of driving a rental car and continue to pay for that vehicle for undetermined amount of time. I decided to try and trade the vehicle. I went to 3 dealerships to get estimates on trading, with one being the same dealership where the vehicle was purchased with final results of being told that the car was worth $5000 less than what was owed on it and I could not get financing for another, not a recent model, vehicle and the balance of the Jeep Compass. So I voluntarily surrendered it back to the financing company leaving a bad finance mark on my credit. The car is to be sold at an auction for what ever price can be obtained leaving me with the balance to pay. My questions are, can Chrysler, automobile manufacturer, be held responsible to pay the balance, and is there anything I can do to recoop the damage this has caused my credit rating?.
