Side/window Air Bag problems of the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Four problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2003

During impact accident,hit deer, passenger side air bag malfunctioned causing chemical burns and injuries to lower extremity.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2000

Consumer was involved in a head on collision traveling about 35-40 mph in which driver's side nor the passenger's side air bags deployed. Consumer has contacted dealer.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/28/1997

While driving at 60 mph, the driver's side air bag deployed for no apparent reason, causing the driver to lose control of Jeep and crash. Driver sustained injuries, such as broken collar bone/neck damage/nerve & right shoulder damage. The Jeep was totalled. 780008 dup of 823900; posted on 09-07-1999.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Consumer notices that the passenger side air bag was bubbling.
