Steering Wheel Vibrate problems of the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Two problems related to steering wheel vibrate have been reported for the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2015

While driving vehicle at approximately 40 to 45 mph, hit a small pot hole in road with right tire. Front end of vehicle began to shake violently with front end wobbling and steering wheel shaking badly. It seemed like the vehicle was about to fall apart. By slowing down significantly, it stopped the situation from occurring. It was quite jarring and very disturbing. Did some investigation and found this is known as the ?Jeep death wobble?. Quite concerned about this occurrence.

2 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2008

While exiting one freeway to another (on the ramp) at 60+ miles per hour, the entire front end starting shaking violently. The steering wheel was shaking back and forth. I have since found out this is known as 'the death wobble'. We have spent well over $5000 trying to correct this problem. However, the front end continues to require work in order to keep it from reoccurring.
