Ignition problems of the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Four problems related to ignition have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2017

The contact owns a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 02v053000 (power train) and 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline, structure); however, the parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that the ignition was failing and caused the vehicle to lose power. The contact took the vehicle to the galanta Chrysler dealer who stated that they were not able to repair the vehicle due to no parts being available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,893. Parts distribution disconnect.

2 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/01/1999

When making a hard turn, either left or right with transmission / 4-wheel drive in neutral, wheels and ignition locked up. Consumer states this occurs when being towed behind a 36 foot motor home, first incident happened after making a hard right turn and was discovered after about 2 miles, second incident happened after traveling approximately 75 milesconsumer stopped and started again having made a hard right turn.

3 Ignition problem

First problem : ignition stops working, if steering is truned and then tried it starts. This problem happens anytime. Dash light dims if I puts on the headlight and flickers while driving.

4 Ignition problem

Whiile traveling and without any indication vehicle stalled. Also, gas guage was reading wrongly. Please provide further information.
