7 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2000

At 27,700 miles I was told the rotors were warped and needed new front brakes. I have never owned a car that needed brakes that soon . . . Ever! I was just told that at 45,704 miles, the rotors are again warped and I need new front brakes. Why? Chrysler has offered a new set of rotors, but no assurance they will last longer than the 18,000 miles the last set lasted. "off the record" and employee told me the brakes on the Grand Cherokee are not adequately cooled. I have 3 other vehicles with 80,000 + miles on them & only one has had replacement brakes at 82,000 miles. The seat back "jumps" back a cog or so on occasion. The dealer cant' even give me an estimate as it is very expensive and involves rebuilding the drivers seat! I think Chrysler should fix it as it was obviously defective in the first place. Never had a car do this either. Kinda hard to drive when laying on one's back!.

8 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2000

Rear brakes make a rubbing noise. Dealer resurfaced all 4 rotors & replaced the pads at consuemr's cost. Vehicle still makes a grinding noise.

9 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 09/19/1999

While driving about 55 mph stepped on brakes pedal to stop vehicle, but did not stop. Could feel pedal pulsating. Then, rear ended another vehicle. Just got a recall notice on the front brakes.

10 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 05/06/1999

I own 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees. Both of which have premature front rotor and pad failure at 20,000 miles. Both the dealer and the manufacturer are not willing to tell me why these components are prematurely wearing out. Even though we live in the "salt belt" the dealer replaced the rotors on my green 98 Jeep but not on my black 98 Jeep. They claim that none of my Jeeps fall under the recall due to the vinnumbers and that they are registered in va and not DC. Even though we commute into DC everyday into the recall area they are not willing to replace the rotors on the black Jeep. The warped rotors are also wearing out the pads. Some owner complaints off the web have stated that daimlerchrylser installed brake pads that were to hard. The heat buildup from the friction of the hard pads is what is warping the rotors. I don't know if that is true or not. We need help. Rotors and pads should last around 40,000 miles if not more. Could you please see if you can get daimler to recall all rotors for those of us who live in the virginia suburbs of washington? thanks.

13 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 04/02/1999

Dealership said these defects were not covered fuel sending unit sends wrong level of gas in tank, brakes failed pulsated full brake job was done , rear windsheild wiper doesn't work at times.

14 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 03/28/1999

Brakes pulsating while stopping. Rotors cut at 15k mi. Problem returned. Rotors/pads replaced at 22k mi. $625. Sucks.

15 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 01/29/1999

Repeated rotor failure. I have had three sets replaced in 17000 miles. Dealer acknowledges that there is a real problem, and that in some cases they are installing aftermarket rotors. This is a widespread problem. It results in violent shaking of steering wheel and pulsation of brakes.

16 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 12/28/1998

The two front rotors have been replaced due to them being warped. They were replaced at 7500 miles approximately. Today, 12-28-98, the two rear rotors are being replaced due to them being warped. This seems to be an acceptable thing Chrysler, since they won't cover the rotors after 12000 miles or twelve months. The disc break system needs to be fixed if the rotors keep warping in my opinion. I do no towing or serious heavy city traveling. The car has been mainly used on interstate freeways.

17 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 07/01/1998

Front brakes have failed. Yh.

18 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 06/06/1998

Abs brake problems; when applying brakes on regular road conditions, brakes pulsate and the truck pulls to the right. The brake pads and rotors have been replaced 5 times by the dealership. Within a thousand miles after being replaced the problem started again.

19 Brake Disc problem

When applying brakes, during normal braking pedal pulstated. This happened on any type of road surface. Jeep was taken to the dealership a couple of times for this problem. Rotors were resurfaced in June of 99. Pads have been replaced. Problem with the brakes continued. The rotors are very thin which cause warping. Please provide any further information.

20 Brake Disc problem

Front brake pads and the rotors are prematurely wearing, cause unknown. Please give any further details.

21 Brake Disc problem

Mult repairs on recalled brakes -- Jeep wont cover. Ongoing steering issue -- Jeep won't fix.
