Door Latch problems of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Six problems related to door latch have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2003

Driver's door mechanism is not working at all, won't close properly. Dealer states they are not responsible for that problem.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2003

The driver's door failed on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo, meaning that metal fatigue and nothing more than metal fatigue caused the metal containing the door latch bold mechanism to literally deteriorate and the door had to be replaced. Daimler-Chrysler refused to acknowledge or pay for the defect.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2003

Eletrical, air condition, body noise over all unhappy with vicial evaporator core $1000. 00 to repair lights and dash gages do not fuction properly suspicion sqeaks had oiled helped for a day brakes were very quick will not line up if you let go of the wheel it goes straight off the road radio can not be truned up door paniles vibrate left turn light stays on on the dash at all times fuel gage reeds emepty even when full an light is on .

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2002

While driving vehicle door latch broke from metal attachment. Driver held on to door until arriving at dealership.

5 Door Latch problem

Doors continuously attempt to lock even after they are locked. Similarly, all 4 windows rolled down approximately 4 inches while driving on the road.

6 Door Latch problem

The door locks inside the door fell apart.
