Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The contact owns a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While parked, the vehicle jerked forward inadvertently. In addition while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently with the engine off and while in park. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 02v053000 (power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: floor shift) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.

2 Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2002

The consumer placed the vehicle in the park position, as she stepped out of the vehicle, she noticed the engine was running. The vehicle rolled back in reverse until it hit a parked vehicle by a gas tank. Prior to the accident, the vehicle had recall b02 performed, which was the floor shift. The consumer requested that daimler Chrysler provide the consumer with a payment for the insurance estimate. Scc.

Consumer appallaed at business ethics of dealership during linkages recall repair.

4 Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem

On two occasions the consumer has received notifications concerning a recall regarding a secondary detent system on the vehicles floor shifter. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer who explained that the vehicle was not apart of the recall and that no modifications were needed.
