The contact owns a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The air bag warning light illuminated intermittently and was followed by a beeping sound. When the dealer was notified concerning NHTSA campaign id number 00v105000 (air bags), the contact was informed that his VIN was not included in the recall. Air bag light stays on for no apparent reason in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo (4. 0 liter, 6 cyl. ) I understand a recall was issued for the exact same problem for the '97-99 Jeep cherokee which stated: air bag could deploy unexpectedly and injure driver. Alternatively, air bag warning light could come on for no apparent reason. Models: 391,623 sport-utility vehicles made 7/96-6/99. What to have dealer replace air-bag control module, positioning it on top of transmission tunnel.
