1 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

While driving, the drivers seat had something break underneath it causing the seat to become more of a rocking chair, wobbling back and forth and to the side. My 19 year old son was driving at the time, and thank goodness he was preparing to stop at a stop sign and he almost was thrown backwards. Now this vehicle is undriveable. Have called around to Jeep dealers and found out that it is the power seat adjuster which needs replacing. Mopar has discontinued this part and it is not available. I have seen on other complaints the same thing has happened to many others. We need some kind of satisfaction on this obviously unsafe part.

2 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

No event triggered my seat failure, the seat track (frame) broke and the seat is behaving like a rocking chair. It hurts my back to drive and is very unsafe. This is my driver's front seat that is broken. I did nothing to cause it to break. I cannot find another seat anywhere without having to order a new one through the dealer, which I've been quoted up to $1,500. This is outragsous, a seat breaking in normal driving conditions at 70,000 miles, and I'm the original owner and drive normally, and have had no accidents impacting my seat that broke abruptly. It's a power seat, laredo model, code fll5. This is a seriously defective and unsafe product, and I will never buy another Jeep again.

3 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2009

Driver side seat track for 1999 power seats has broken, I seen several reports of this happening to Jeeps, for some reason they are made of garbage, the metal track just snaps and it can not be that i8 am heavy set as I only weigh 155 lbs. Why have a seat belt on if the seat it self is not bolted to floor as the track is broken?.

4 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2008

The contact owns a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 5-10 mph, the driver's side power seat has movable metal that connects and broke on his vehicle. The front driver's side seat did not have any connection to the actual vehicle. The dealer stated that the entire seat track would have to be replaced at an estimated cost of $550. The failure mileage was 155,000 and current mileage is 174,000.

5 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2007

The driver's side power seat adjuster broke and now the seat is wiggling and wobbling. I took the vehicle to a dealership, and was quoted $900. 00 to resolve this issue. They stated that the entire seat adjuster would have to be replaced. I have never had a problem with any other vehicle I owned. I am forced to pay for this repair when it is clearly a manufacturer's s defect.

8 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2004

Problem with seat on the driver's side. While getting an I. D. From the rear seat, a weld, from a piece of flat stock metal, 1/8 inch by 1in. X1 in. , disconnected. This cause the seat to rock, back and fourth. The other three bar sections could also, detach because of this. I have an extended coverage but, I 'm told it's not covered. I would have to pay, over $900. 00 dollars to have this fix. They, the dealership, would need to replace the whole under section, in order to rememdy the problem. This this is not a normal thing, I feel that happens. I've had a number of cars etc. , never this problem. I'm told, it can't be rewelded back in place. And I can't drive the car as is. The whole seat could come flying through the front glass. Can you help me with this issue?.

9 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2004

The driver seat on my 1999 Jeep cherokee laredo have given way. Both support bolts have sheared leaving the seat unsupported. This happened in normal driving conditions. I contacted Chrysler, with no satisfaction. I was told that the car is out of warranty. This seems to be a serious defect in the seat support system.

10 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2003

While adjusting power seat a piece of metal bracket that attaches the seat to the rail assembly fractured for no apparent reason. Dealer states since warranty period was over there is little they can do and that they are unaware of any similiar complaints.

11 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2003

Broken elevator bracket on drivers power seat. The front left bracket has broken at the weld. It does not appear that this weld had been adequately fused to the axis shaft. The bracket broke in half at the point where it is intersected by the axis component. Sometimes this seat rocks backward suddenly when driving which diminishes my ability to control the vehicle. I am more concerned that the drivers seat is not anchored to the vehicle chassis as designed. In the event of being the victim of a rear end collision, I anticipate being thrown to the rear of the cab due to lack of restraint. I am virtually the only person that has driven this vehicle and the seat has only been elevated from its lowest position a few times. The repair estimate is $586 (to replace the entire assembly) as the warranty has expired. This failure is clearly a manufacturing defect and not due to wear or misuse. The failure of this component significantly compromises driver and occupant safety.
