The in-dash heater/ac blend door is malfunctioning causing air flow not to be properly diverted between lower dash vents, dashboard vents and defroster vents. This is creating an unsafe condition whereby the windshield will not clear in rainstorms and will not stay defrosted in winter driving. A search on the internet and along with discussions with a local dealer working with Jeeps for many years has led me to understand that this is a long-known and very common defect with Jeep Grand Cherokees. Prices to replace this blend door have ranged from $1000 to $1500 due to the fact that this is a very labor intensive replacement. I contact Chrysler assistance and they suggested that I contact you to identify this safety concern so that perhaps a technical service bulletin (TSB) could be issued and Chrysler would address the defective blend door for consumers experiencing this safety issue.
I recently purchased this vehicle and the drivers side has no heat, due to the blend door malfunctioning.
No defrost or heat on passenger side of vehicle, cannot see thru passenger side of windsheild when iced or foggged up.
We own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. It just started blowing cold air only out of the drivers side vents and hot air out of the passengers side vents. We understand it is a blend door malfunction which is widespread among 1998-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners. We called our local Jeep dealer and they estimated it would cost between $800 and $2000 to fix as they would have to pull the entire dash out of the car. This is simply unacceptable for an owner to have to pay all of this money to repair a manufacturing deficit in the original design. About every Jeep owner we know has faced this problem. We feel you should demand that Jeep recalls all of the Jeeps and fix them at their expense.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Passenger side vents blow extremely cold air, even with the heat turned on. With negative temperatures this past week, this makes driving the vehicle nearly impossible. This is a widespread issue that is a known vehicle flaw and extremely costly to fix. This isn't about comfort, but about safety in winter weather!!!.
The dual climate control has been not functional due to the fact that my blend door actuator is stock on vent. This has caused me great discomfort and severe safety issues because I can not circulate any warm air in my car or defrost. I sincerely hope Jeep does a recall, not only to keep valued customers, but to prevent any serious accidents due to the fact that the defrost is completely disfunctional.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee - dual control heater blend door malfunctions. No heat on the passenger side.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee heater quit working and makes it dangerous to drive in cold weather because you can not keep windows defrosted. It is a known problem with this vehicle.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited blend doors.
My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee only blows cold air out of the passenger side vents regardless of the temperature setting. It has been doing this for several weeks now. It does not appear that it will ever be corrected.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2000 model, have a common failure with the blend doors in the ventilation system. This is a well know error on these cars, and happens with every one of them. I have a dual ventilation system that controls each side of the car.
Little to no heat. Mainly I am getting very little heat from the passenger side (not blowing like drivers side and drivers side as well as passenger side not heating as it should.
My blend door that controls my heat and a/c on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee is broken. I've done a lot of research on this problem. There are alot of Jeep owners with the same/similar problem. This should totally be a recall and should be fixed by Jeep/Chrysler.
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have no heat and can't defrost the windows. I took it to a Chrysler dealer and they told me the bender boards need to be replaced at a cost of about $1,200/. I did some research and there are a lot of people that are complaining about this issue with Jeep. This is obviously a design flaw and should be recalled and fixed by Chrysler at no charge to the customer.
When heater is on, my vehicle heater blows only out of the driver side vents. Cold air blows out on the passenger side. The vehicle also blows no a/c on the passenger side.
The blend air door in not working properly, causing the heater not to work on the passenger side.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee blender door, which is located in the heater/ air conditioner box. Upon looking up this problem, and asking other Jeep owners, this seems to be a very common and large problem, as well as costly ($800- $1200) to repair. How could there not possibly be a recall on something as expensive as this to fix. Especially when it happens to all of these vehicles in the years between 1999-2004? the electronic dual air control was developed with parts not built to with stand the job it is required to do.
Blend door gone bad per dealer.
Recirc door, the driver's blend door, and the passenger's blend door all have too much travel, causing only cold air to come in on passenger or on driver side causing fog build up on the front windshield which prevents drivers vision and could cause a major accident. A known problem by Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler but never had a recall to fix the hazardous and dangerous problem.
Hvac blend door in Jeep Grand Cherokee failed.
Heater or car radio overheated and melted tape in radio. This was the fourth occurrence and now radio will no longer play tapes or can be used for xm radio. Talked to service manager at dealership and this has been an ongoing problem.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, this is the third occurance that my heating/cooling system has failed since I purchased my Jeep in August of 1999. The latest problem is the blend doors and recirculation doors. The dealer cost to fix was about $900. 00. After seven years I would think that Chrysler could make a heating/cooling system that would not break every 2. 5years.
Defroster on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee only blows cold air. Ice builds up on windshield reducing visibility.
I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 116,000 miles. The events leading up to the failure of the ventilation system were (1) rapid fogging of front windshield, (2) no defrost on passenger side of windshield, (3) fogging of front passenger windows and windshield,(4) failure of passenger heat while still maintaining driver heat function, and (5) only cold air release on passenger side of Jeep. Consequently the windsheild and front windows do not defog, and no heat is provided from the passenger side floor and dashboard ventilation system. To correct this problem, a blend door assembly is required at a cost of approximately $1,350 inclusive of 8 hours of labor. According to the certified service department at the local Jeep dealer and online forums, this has become a very common problem for 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
Heater blows only cold air on the passenger side no matter the temperature setting.
Failure of climate control "blend doors" which results in lack of control over heat or a/c entering passenger compartment.
The blend doors have failed 2x. This is extremely dangerous as I no longer have defrost on the front windshield. This costs over $1000 to fix. The blend doors have flaps to control the hot and cold air for the hvac. Mine was stuck on cold, and there is no way to defrost my car. I can not afford another $1000.
1) no sign of failure, just happened out of no where 2)no heat from passenger side of vehicle at all, no floor heat, no front vent heat, and most importantly, no windshield defrost heat, causing a lot of fog and poor visibility during these cold months. . . 3)have not done anything to fix issue, cost of replacement parts and labor is $2000, down time of vehicle is 2 days to fix. . . A lot of work for a novice like myself.
The blower motor on my Jeep Grand Cherokee limited failed due to a problem with doors in the heating/cooling system. The repair will cost $ 900 - 1,200. 00 to repair. There was heat. There was cooling. There was no blowing to send that air into the vehicle compartment. Defrosting of windows was slow. The condensation evaporated only after the air moved itself. I can only switch to "defrost", a minimal assist in the process. My husbandwas unwilling to drive or be a passenger in this vehicle due to the danger caused by the defrosting problem (we have a home in mn and I will be moving there soon) or during the extremes of temperature during winter and summer. There was a website with a long list of people with the same claim.
Heater does not work on the drivers side, cost to fix is ridiculous and I cannot believe that something this expensive happens so often on this vehicle. I have read dozens of accounts from other wj Jeep owners having this problem!.
I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. The events leading up to the failure of the ventilation system were (1) rapid fogging of front windshield,(2) fogging of front passenger windows,(3) failure of passenger heat while still maintaining driver heat function, and (4) only cold air release on passenger side of Jeep. Consequently,(1) the windshield and front windows do not defog, and (2) no heat whatsoever comes from the passenger side floor and dashboard ventilation system. To correct this problem, a "blend air door" is necessary at a cost of approximately $1,400. According to the certified service department at the local Jeep dealer and online forums, this has become a very common problem for 2000-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited's with dual zone ventilation systems. Given the mileage of the vehicle at the time of 110,000, I thought it a reasonable failure. Later I found out this is a very common failure. 14 months later, the heater began having problems again and seemed not to respond to the controls. The shop says it is the "blend doors" again! I told them they were replaced 14 months earlier and they replied it was a common problem and it seems every service coordinator at this particular dealership had a set of bad blend doors under their desk to show people what the problem is! if this is so common, it seems that Chrysler should be doing something about it! 14 months expected lifetime?? $3k in 14 months just to get a heater working? too much! something must be done!!.
The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The defroster malfunctioned and the windows frosted. The contact had no visibility. The dealer stated that the blending door heat actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 46,000 and current mileage was 47,500.
: the contact stated the ventilation would not operate on the driver's side disallowing the defroster, heater and air conditioning to operate properly. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer who determined the heater box needed to be replaced to correct the ventilation issue.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower .
The ventilation system in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped working completely. It worked for about a year after I bought it and then stopped. Now it just blows out cold air even when I have the heat on. I can't afford to have it fixed and I can't fix it my self. It is a constant nuisance. I live in the mountains where it is freezing and I have to drive to work in a freezing car. My defroster doesn't even work! half the time, I am riding around with a fogged up windshield which isn't safe at all.
