In December of 2012, we received a recall notice from Chrysler regarding the occupant restrain control (orc) of the airbag system. The airbags deploy inadvertently when over stressed. We are fortunate that this has not happened to us . . . Yet! on December 16,2013, one year later, I called both pamby's Chrysler dealership (where we take our car for service) and the corporate offices for Chrysler to report that our airbag light is now on permanently. We were and are concerned that the air bag might deploy while we are driving the vehicle and cause an accident. Both pamby's and Chrysler have stated that they have not received the part-one year later! I gave all of my contact information to Chrysler with a promise that my concerns would be addressed via email. No one has contacted me. Now I have received an additional recall for the trailer hitch as it causes fires! how long will it take to repair this? we have owned Jeeps for almost forty years but with the new "we don't care about your safety" attitude, we will not buy another. Thank you for your assistance.
Submission from constituent re receiving a recall notice for his Jeep Grand Cherokee around two (2) years ago and the problem has not been resolved. When the consumer arrive at the dealer, he was informed the part was not available, despite it being confirmed on the telephone weeks prior. The recall was for the air bag light. The consumer stated the air bag light was always on, an he feared it would deploy at any time.
Airbag light is on , took vehicle to Jeep dealer to diagnose problem and was told that there is a problem with the control module as per NHTSA id # 12v527000 however was told by Chrysler as of date has a no fix solution for the problem to just keep driving the vehicle until a fix is found , so my college age son is now driving a vehicle with faulty airbags. I asked them why they could not replace the faulty module with a new one under this recall ( 12v527000 ) and was told no unless I paid for it and that Chrysler would not pay for it as replacement is not what is stipulated in the recall for which they have no fix .

Air bag light on had dealer diagnose as "right front impact sensor" I have been looking to buy a Jeep and this was the third one I had looked at with an airbag light on I think the sensor is faulty and should be recalled for the safety of drivers.
I have a recall on my car I called the car maker the manufacturer told me that the parts were not available this is 8 month ago now my airbag light is lit I called them because the recall state this vehicles has a chance of experiencing an electrical overstress condition! it can damage one of the orc's computer chips this can cause the airbag light to light up and air bag to inadvertent deployment of front airbags increasing the risk of injury or of vehicle crash. I was told to take down to the dealer with the recall that way they can fix it. The part and labor is free of charge I called the dealer and I was told that I have to pay for it up front then reimburse the bill to the manufacturer for them to pay when they can. I do not have thousand of dollars that it will cost to fix the up front for this recall can some one tell me how to fix this problem.

The Chrysler group notified me Jan/Feb of recall for a seconds notice of accidental front and side airbag deployment, this a day after my airbag light turns on. Called, got on list ASAP, waited, called repeatedly, will not drive. For as they stated in noticed "we are sincerely concerned about your safety". So I was as well. I bought this vehicle for these options specifically, and not have my two small children in a mid sedan surrounded by suvs. So here I am, 4 mo later still making monthly payments, insurance, registration, rejection sticker (airbag light) and no drive. This is a ridiculous time period, I should at least be allowed to have them disconnected free of charge, for my car insurance will likely rise. But at least I could use it. Its basically an expensive cd player when I start it up once a week for its own good!.

Chrysler announced a recall of my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees m35/NHTSA 12v-527 informing me that there was "a small chance of an electrical overstress could occur and if this overstress condition occur, it could cause damage to the orc computer chip causing the airbag light to illuminate, followed almost immediately by an inadvertent deployment of the front or side airbag! inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. " Chrysler intends to repair my vehicle, however; the part is currently not available. Why is it taking Chrysler sooo long with producing this part??? I contacted my local Chrysler dealership only to find out, the dealer had no knowledge of this recall and could not advise if my vehicle was even safe to drive. This is extremely poor customer service and needs to be resolved, ASAP. It would appear since this vehicle is more than 10+ years old Chrysler does not have any intentions on the repair and does not want to accept liability if an accident occurs while I am driving it. Again, extremely poor customer service!!!!!!!.
I was sent a letter from Chrysler about my Jeep Grand Cherokee airbag problem. In November of 2012 this vehicle, which is driven by my 20 year old daughter, had the airbag light illuminate. I contacted our mechanic here in bend, oregon and he informed me that the airbags were not functioning and that immediate attention was needed to repair this problem. I did not allow my daughter to drive the car and had the repair made at a cost of about $500. 00 dollars. Shortly after this repair, I received the recall notice from Chrysler and talked to my mechanic who confirmed that this is exactly the repair that was made. I send Chrysler the repair bill as they stated on the recall form. Two weeks ago I received a phone call from Chrysler informing me that the parts are not available to fix this problem and they are not sure of what is causing the problem, therefore they will not be refunded for this repair. Chrysler is trying to delay or deny this very serious safety issue and I do not appreciate the way this was handled.
This vehicle is subject to recall 12v527000. 10 months later, there is no fix from Chrysler. We live in a safety inspection state. This vehicle cannot pass safety inspection with the air bag light on all the time. Our past safety inspection expired 8/31/13. Note that in our state, the safety inspection sticker is much larger than the registration sticker. It's easier for the police to detect expired safety than expired registration. We cannot legally drive this vehicle now & every consumer protection agency I've called tells me we have no recourse. This vehicle cannot even be sold here, except for parts!!!! we need to have something to drive while Chrysler figures out how this can be fixed, but it seems they're allowed to assign the b team to this problem part-time - as long as they say they're working on it, who cares if a lot of people are stuck with long-term illegal vehicles. This is one heck of a way to treat customers, and there must be some **quick** avenue of redress for us, because we need a car now.

Was driving and all of a sudden the air bag light and check engine light came on. Now they wont go off. Check engine light has been hooked up to computer but all it says is that there's an emissions leak but no one can find it. The air bag light wont go off.
My power steering went out, the air conditioner quit working, the air bags light will not go off, headlights come on and off when no one is in the vehicle, the electrical sensors are inoperable, and the heated seats get too hot, or not work at all. I have yet to receive any recalls for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland.
