1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2020

One Monday the 6th driving north. It was raining. So, I had full 4wheel drive engaged. A car cut me off. I was on the transition from the 5 n to the 55n. A car from the left lane cut into my lane to try and exit onto 4th street. To avoid an accident I slammed on the breaks and veered right. But the car would not stop. I pushing down on the breaks as hard as I could. The car was still accelerating and did not slow down. Trying to obtain control over the vehicle I "fishtailed" from going right back to left and hit the side of the car and then hit the center divider. The car kept accelerating and I hit the center divider and flipped around. I was then facing opposite traffic towards the divider. I threw the car into park and held the breaks strong. The back wheels were still spinning out. I look down and the keys were not in the ignition. Luckily, I had a spare key in the center console and shut it down. I found the keys on the ground but not anywhere near the pedals. I talked to the dealer and they said they had never heard of it. The only thing they could verify is that the key could come out wile the car is still on. According to them this happens as the key wears down or gets old.

Fuel tank protection. I took this in for the recall which I assumed they where going to install a trailer hitch to help protect form rear end collision in packing the fuel tank. They said it didn't need one. So no additional protection was added. I also don't understand why they have the gas evaporator canister by the back bumper. Its full of gas vapor. Usually these are in the engine compartment. Chrysler should do more to help protect this vehicle. I appreciate your assistance.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2018

My transmission is going out. I just bought the car in January and I've been having a transmission problem for several months. I heard there was a recall on Jeep cherokee transmissions. My car won't accelerate anymore when I drive. It won't switch gears and rpm will shoot up to 3 or 4. It does this every time it tries to switch gears.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2018

On February 22, 2018 we brought our 2002 Jeep cherokee in to merrick Chrysler on sunrise highway in wantagh because my wife was advised of a security concern over the airbag unexpectedly deploying (which has already happened to her in an unrelated incident). After scheduling and waiting a couple of months we brought the car in and after 3 hours I was told they didn't have the parts and to call back. My wife refused to even sit in the car until it was fixed. I called the dealer and they refused to even give me a time frame on receipt of the parts or repair of the recall. Within a few weeks thereafter I was at my wits end went to the dealership and purchased a newer Jeep cherokee the was guaranteed not to have any problems but to this day I haven't received even a call regarding the repair which has now cost my family an additional $26,000. 00, but it sure wasn't the way we wanted to get a new car. We have a gorgeous new Jeep that she drives and I also purchased another car because I do not want to get hit in the head by a faulty air bag. Please help us with our recall. Seriously, enough is enough already. We have a gorgeous Jeep in our driveway, registered and insured and undriveable, unless you can guarantee that if the airbag deploys we will have our own dealership if we live through the accident!! even more concerning is the disdain and importance with which we are treated. Buy a new car they drool at your feet but god so help the poor old schmuck who shows up with some old clunker that they won't make a dime off of. Please help us. Its just not fair.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

While driving or stationary the engine shuts down on me. It starts again after I wait about an hour or more. I bought this car from the original owner in December 2017. She had all the recalls fixed except for the airbag. Since owning this car I have only driven it 3 times. Granted I took a few months to put it on the road as the weather was cold. I've had extensive work done on it. Tune up, new transmission, belts, pumps, coils, hoses and sensors you name it but it continues to shut off on me. I try to take it for a spin but just putting it in reverse it shuts off. Can you please look in to this?.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2017

The automatic transmission shifts out of its gear as if the locking mechanism of the shifter is not working.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

I reported this problem a month or so ago about the front driver's seat breaking and breaking off the vehicle frame. Plus the a/c issue under the glove compartment overheats and melts the mechanism and continues to burn. When I reported the issue, no wreck was involved. Since reporting the problem, the vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. My fix apparently allowed the seat to stay on the frame but the seat still broke. Fortunately, no serious injury, only sore neck and bump to the hand.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2016

Contacted local Jeep dealer, every time they put me off saying it is not apart of the recall and will not fix my problem. Makes twice they have done so.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2015

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received a manufacturer recall for the trailer hitch, the dealer was notified and indicated that the frame and trailer hitch would need to be replaced before they would provide the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and provided no solution for longer than two years. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

Last week I received a mailer for the n47 customer satisfaction notification. It advised that my best option for complying with the program would be calling the customer care hotline. I have tried many times, at various times during the day. The response has varied from "no answer" to a recording of "we are experiencing long wait times", followed by no answer. The vru also advised registering online @ myjeepauto. Com. Good luck with that - only a page of Jeep ads and current incentives appears. The mailer advises that parts will be available sept. 15. Why not advise as to when the customer care hotline, or website, will also be active - and responsive?.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

I have never been notified on any of the recalls on this Jeep after looking at recalls airbags can deploy when driving then see in the recall this evening on the news.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2015

It's killing my battery the interior light stays on when vehicle is off and power windows don't work unless driver side door is open while vehicle is on. Door open lights flashes when vehicle is running however it is really shut already. I have friends with same type vehicles having same issues.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2014

I sent my car in to have the airbag system occupant restraint control module on my vehicle checked due to an issued recall on my vehicle. This issue was fixed as far as I know; however, during the repair, the center console of my Jeep where the gear changer is was broken and not repaired by the company. I do have a picture I can send to you, but don't see an option to attach it.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2014

I own a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I received a manufacturer recall notice close to one year ago. I have contacted the Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealer several times. Each time I attempt to schedule an appointment, I get the same response. I'm simply told, they do not have the parts in stock needed to fix the defect. Along with, they haven't a clue as to when the parts will come in. According to several notices I have received throughout the year regarding the safety recall of my vehicle, this defect could cause myself to crash without warning. Knowing each day I drive my vehicle, I am putting my life at risk, is very unsettling. I am just confused as to why the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act continues to send multiple safety recall notices for my vehicle. When at the same time, the responsible party to my solution, just shrugs it off like it's nothing to worry about. All because, "the parts have not come in yet", still. Can you please provide me with a solution? I really do not know what I am supposed to do when the dealer is unable to remedy this defect. Thank you.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2014

I have contacted Jeep and was told that they would not correct or authorize repair for this, even when I had the f25 safety recall notice. They repaired this problem a few years back, but their 'fix' was to install the same type of fan as was previously recalled. It failed again recently while I was in a parking lot - this time, when it broke, it slung the broken blade into the cowling and left a huge hole in this cover piece. It was a recall, for heavens' sakes - it does not seem that I should bear the cost of repairing this, since it is obviously a problem in the design of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. One inch to the left while looking at the fan, and it would have been propelled into my head with serious injuries.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

Driver's seat detaches from car frame. Electrical blower module resistor overheats, melts, and burns. Both issues are known by consumers and dealerships, so there is no way Jeep/Chrysler doesn't know about the design flaws and the danger. Driver's seat: there is a great deal of chatter on the internet regarding the driver's seat detachment from the car frame and the reason for it. People have created various fixes that may or may not work well. As added proof, it is impossible to find a Jeep Grand Cherokee driver's seat in any junk yard. Please go look for yourself. Mine totally broke while on the highway, nearly causing a wreck. It's terrible and I do not understand why there hasn't been a recall and someone held criminally liable for this. Blower motor module: lots of chatter on the internet as well as to the problem and the cause. Mine melted and became so hot that I couldn't touch it without burning my hand - which I did. There is a fix, but you have to buy an upgrade module which still gets hot. Also, the module turns the blower in reverse, so you have to reverse the leads. It's dangerous and again, I don't understand why there hasn't been a recall on it either and someone held criminally liable.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

I got in to drive my '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and before turning ignition it was lightly bumped and it will go into any position. Also, while going down the road, the shift selector (that changes from n d r 1 2) was lightly bumped by accident, and it moved into n. This is the safety hazard. If a Jeep was sitting on an incline, and shift selector was bumped, or something. It could roll downgrade and could crash into another vehicle or another person. I could not find a recall on this. But this is dangerous.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

Freedom Chrysler/Jeep, lexington, ky could not provide a timely scheduling to fix the issue per the recall notice. I spoke with joey, service department who told me I would have to bring the vehicle in for an evaluation (not needed per notice and later conversation with chrsyler group recall assistance center. Joey told me not all vehicle needed to be fixed and that is the reason for evaluation, also not true per recall center. Asked joey to spoke to the manager, he forwarded my call. Service manager had a little more knowldege about the recall, I thought until he told me it would be two months until they could schedule an appointment. Reason cited was the chryler were not providing the parts, also not true. He told me he would call back with an appointment date, that was several hours ago. I called the chrsyler group recall assistance center and they were great. Help me schedule an appointment with another dealership. My complaint is about freedom chrsyler/Jeep in lexington for providing false information about the recall.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Notice of problem from Chrysler, some eight months ago and correction still not performed.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2009

Takata recall, was driving to work on a highway in minot nd, started to smell smoke and something hot smelling, then my right drivers leg was getting hot. I looked down and my drivers seat was smoking underneath. Hurried to stop along the side of road, turned off seat warmer button, then opened the drivers door to clear the smoke and cool under the seat. Reported this to Chrysler, they stated my VIN # was not on the recall list. If it caught fire--it sound be on list by now. This could be very dangerous driving down the highway if the passenger side does the same thing as drivers side did. VIN# 1j4gw48s72c311771 the campaign # 09v117000 also as of today I have received recalls on airbag and engine fan--called them last year to order in minot--they state they haven't gotten yet.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2007

Blend air door failure/no heat.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2007

Ventilation system making noise behind dashboard. When the a/c unit is off, once I shut off vehicle, no noise will be heard, however after running a/c, when shutting off vehicle, a moaning or creaking sound is heard, everytime. I have read this is happening to many many others. Possible "blend door" problem. This needs to be repaired. People that live in cold environments or extremely hot should not have to worry about a hvac system breaking and then have to pay 1500. 00 for repair.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2006

2002 Grand Cherokee lost heat on both zones of the dual climate control. The consumer feels that the manufacturer should fix the system free of charge.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2005

Duel climate control doors not working no heat on passenger side or on driver side. Windows fog up and make for dangerous driving conditions. Cost 1500. 00 to repair and fix. At the dealership they have seen between 8-10 of these since October 2005 and it is only February 2006. When I called Jeep about the problem the customer service person told me he was "setting me straight" and that he didn't care if I was a customer again. He would not let me talk to a supervisor and he hung up the phone on me.

25 Equipment problem

The truck is equipped with a tire pressure regulator device. Intermittently, the device warning light illuminates on the dashboard, which is and indication of low tire pressure. When the light comes on the truck was taken to the dealership to have the tire pressure checked. The tire pressure is fine. A possibility of a malfunction in the tire pressure warning device.
