I was driving to the work, a semi truck was front of my Jeep,it was a stop sign and the semi truck was stopping and I was slowing down to stop, but my Jeep didn't slow down. Even I was pressing the brake, didn't stop on time and I crashed to the semi truck. Luckily, didn't give any damage to the semi truck , but my Jeep end up total lost. After I got this recall from mail, I realize , the accident wasn't my fault, the Jeep had a factory defected. I need some one to answer this for me. Because I lost my Jeep and got another car to go to work. Till now I was asking myself how I couldn't stop the Jeep and it was only 15 to 20 miles an hours. Now I know it wasn't me.
Sometimes when I drive the engine feels like it stalls out and my rpm's don't move, all the boxes around prnd light up and the check engine light comes on. I have to pull over and put the car in park or sometimes I have to turn it off. Once this is done the car continues to drive like nothing happened but the check engine light will stay on for a day. Sometimes it happens on the highway which is very scary to just drop speed down to 40. I have read many blogs about this issue. It happens at random times.

On Dec. 21, 2008,while driving down ih-35, my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly and uncontrollably started accelerating. I felt the pedal leave my foot, and pin to the floor. I tried tapping it a few times, then applied the brakes with no result. I had to shift into neutral and pull over onto the shoulder, where I watched my rpm gauge pin at 6000 rpm for approx. 30 - 45 seconds. It finally went back to normal as I was bringing it to a stop in order to turn the car off. This is the 3rd and most severe time in 6 months this has happened.
While driving west on I-8 in arizona vehicle went completely dead without warning, power steering was lost, etc. Fortunately I was able to steer the vehicle onto side of the highway and bring to a stop. Traffic was virtually no-existent on this stretch of the road otherwise a crash of some kind would most likely take place. As we were in the middle of now where I immediately attempted to start the vehicle up again which it did without a problem. I was able to drive away and vehicle seemed to drive perfectly normal. I recently had the same problem happen again. And, again, I happen to be on a road with very little traffic so I was able to pull over and again the vehicle started up again without a hitch. I attributed the problem to the location of the ignition switch which makes it almost impossible not to bump into the key with your right knee anytime you're traveling long distances and wind up moving your feet around just to stretch them. I now realize that's a much larger problem than that.
I own a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been stalling on me. I looked on youtube and there are other owners with same situation. It has stalled on me and my fiance about 10 times in traffic and at sudden stops. I was going 40 miles an hour on a busy street and it just died in the middle lane. I know Chrysler had a recall or bulletin on the newer ones but this is more wide spread then they would like to attest to. There are several other complaints of same situation just type Jeep stalling on google and you will see. I was almost in a collision recently and need this resolved please help.

While trying to stop, while my foot was on the brake pedal, the engine started racing and was not able to stop, I ended up hitting the car in front of me, 2 car passengers went to the hospital with minor injuries. Contacted Jeep and car was checked by factory expert at local dealer , nothing defective was found with brakes . This has happened 2 times before this accident. Fortunately, I was able to stop. Also I had to replace all 4 rotors with less than 18,000 miles, complained to Jeep and was told that rotors are normal wear and tear item and how long they last depends on your driving habits. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo on 2 different occasions my engine sounds like it is revving at full throttle but I have no power. The rpm does not reflect this. Both incidents have been first thing in the morning and there is no warning. Fortunately I have had enough power to get the vehicle off the road. I estimate my speed to be approximately 5-10 mph. I am hoping that if you have had similar complaints that you can advise me what was done to fix the problem. I have had the Jeep to the shop on two different occasions but they advise me since they cannot replicate the problem they cannot fix it. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

The vehicle collided with another vehicle and went through a towel cabinet and a brick wall. Four employees and myself were nearly killed. I took the driver out of the vehicle and while no one was in it, it was still trying to drive through the wall on it's own. (nothing was touching the accelerator).

I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee laredo under 3000 miles. My engine light has come on less than 10 times ,and my car has stalled when come to stop light or complete stop about 5 times. I have made 5 trips to the dealer and the first few times they could not find anything wrong with it. Then they determined it was related to the remote start which they had installed. I got it back and they said it was fixed and it stalled out when I pulled into my driveway that very day. Engine light came on again exactly 1 week later. Engine light is still on now. This will be my 7th trip to the dealer for this problem. I would also like to say that I have also hit the key in the ignition twice which made the car shut off and my car has also revved up with the brake on just as the other complaints on this site. I am also only getting 12 miles per gallon!.
The rpms increase and vehicle idles, causing the vehicle to accelerate on its own. Taken to dealer for checkup, but the cause was undetermined.
