I have a warning light telling me to check my gas cap. I check out and nothing seems to be wrong. But I do go through a lot of gas. I don't know if there needs to be a new gas cap put on or if it's part of the fuel system.
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee inside door handles cannot be open any of the doors from the inside you have to open it from the outside because the plastic of the inside door handles are made of cheap plastic and Chrysler knows about it ever since 2005 to 2011 and never had a recall what concerns me with people have small children that you can't get out of the vehicle in a time of the emergency and it really concerns me if the vehicle ever caught on fire or flooded or underwater you can't get out and it's the death trap.
When I am driving, all of the lights on my dash come on. Seatbelt, check engine, brakes, low tire pressure etc. The stay on for a couple of seconds. Then everything turns off for about half a second. Gas gauge, rpm, speedometer all go down to zero, which is how it is when I turn the Jeep off. While I'm still driving and going 45 mph! then every thing turns back on. It happened about 5 months ago once. Then today it happened about 15 times as I drove home from my mother's house, which is about 7-9 miles from my house.
Vehicle was stationary.
Been having starting issues for at least 6 months. It starts sometimes and other times have to wait a few hours to a few days. The last 2 days won't start at all and has drained my less then a year old battery. 3 weeks ago windows will roll down or up whenever they want. Doors lock and unlock at random. I believed my car is possessed. Reading more and more I realized my tipm is bad. I have learned with all the random things with this Jeep that I will never buy one again. It is a very dangerous car and too many issues, with no resolution other then I have to empty every pocket to fix it. It stalls when driving it shifts into all gears slows me down when I'm on highway at a very unsafe speed. It is unreliable and I put my life my kids and others at risk while driving. Sadly, I believe Jeep doesn't care about safety since there is 1000's of complaints with same issues. It also says my air bags won't work because the tipm is bad.
Car wouldn't start transmission overtemp error. Drive to work 20 min parked car flat surface came out to leave after 8 hour shift that error message and won't start. 2nd time this has happened no warning was told common issue pigtail to starter because of placement it gets wet or moisture. Which makes this car questionable to drive.
The engine died going 70mph on the hwy with out any notice. I was barely able to get to the side of road as steering locked up, once on side of road, I put it into 'park' and 'restarted the engine'. It worked just fine from then on, till about 3 months later, it happened again. This time I was approaching a stop light and turning right, I barely was able to get thru the light and to the side of the road, as the steering had again locked up. This is very scary! everything in the car turns 'off', I dont even think the flashers worked during these times. Once at a complete stop, and after putting into 'park', everything starts back up normally, and drives fine. There is not any other signs of anything wrong, no dash light warnings or anything.
takata recall my vehicle had an issue starting becuase of a short faulty wire connecting to the starter that ive seen on youtube that 750000+ people have the same issue it left me stuck plenty if times as is starts when it wants to. I really cant word it as best as the next person but this is the issue and im oretty sure im not the first person to file a complaint about this here wit Jeep.
Turned on the defrost for the back windows and mirrors, mirror got so hot, it discolored. Parked in the driveway.
Sunroof explosion.
Recall has been open for years regarding the ignition switch but Chrysler never has the part. Further, this car has numerous reports of braking issues that are sporadic and it caused me to rear-end a vehicle on Nov. 2, luckily at a very low rate of speed. I let my foot off the brake to inch forward and it would not engage again when I pressed it again moments later. Mechanic couldn't replicate the issue but that is typical for Chrysler it seems.
Uncertain but the vehicle was in motion the brakes failed to stop the vehicle making contact with another vechicle at approximately 50 mph airbags failed to deploy.
When vehicle goes over a small or large bump, a dashboard light cluster indicates to service 4wd system and is accompanied by abs, traction control, and esp bas warning lights. Abs is noticeably disabled when this light cluster appears. The indications usually last a few minutes before going away. This has been occurring for approximately the last 18,000 miles. When brought up at the dealership during routine maintenance, I am told they can find nothing wrong with the vehicle. On this last occasion, I lost full braking authority and was luckily able to gradually slow down and pull over to the freeway shoulder while applying the emergency brake. When the vehicle was shut off and turned back on the indications went away and braking was restored. Obviously, this creates a very dangerous situation.
I had a recall on my vehicles ignition switch and my car stop while I was driving nearly causing an accident. I was told that it was fixed when I took it to us auto where I purchased it. It was taken to Jeep (2016) but my ignition switch is still the issue. I had a mechanic take a look and my ignition switch is still the problem. How could this happen what if I was injured because of this?.
Door handles breaking on all interior doors. Extremely dangerous for passengers in the car. Especially in the back when your child can not get out!!! it started on the passenger rear door and has continued to break on the others.
There is a ticking sound coming from either the engine or the front passenger side. It only makes the noise when going extremely slow.
Takata recall my car leaks water inside , when it rain, whn I go to lock or unlock my car with the remote started it starts the car.
The issue is with the tipm (totally integrated power module). During the first instance the car was being driven in a parking lot the car suddenly became completely unresponsive and locked up while in motion. It was towed to a local Jeep dealership and eventually it was discovered the problem was due to a bad pcm and the tipm. After waiting a month for the tipm to come in, the vehicle was supposedly fixed. Picked up the car on a Friday and again, while driving the car on Saturday morning the car locked up and became completely unresponsive. This time I was getting onto the freeway. Thankfully my children were not in the car on either one of these occasions. After researching I found that Jeep tipm's were recalled from 2011 to 2015. It also appears that tipm's from 2007 leading up to 2011 were also having a lot of issues and a recall was in order then, but never officially came to be. This part has a long and documented history as having major problems and I want to officially request an investigation as to why these parts have are being put into cars in this condition. The ramifications of this parts failure are huge. To have a car that is in motion lock up and become totally unresponsive presents a huge safety concern to the driver, their passengers and the other vehicles on the road around them. The local Jeep dealership as well as Chrysler customer service are not treating this issue with the severity it deserves. They simply want me to just pay for faulty parts and have me go away. This is not how an automaker should be handling a safety issue of this magnitude.
Rear lift gate cylinders for the back door do not work in cold - 50 degrees or cooler weather. They do not keep the door up and many times the back door almost or did come crashing down on my head. This is not a one time incident. This is a safety hazard which could result in a possible concussion, fractured skull or broken neck. Luckily the last time someone saw it almost crash on my head while unloading groceries they picked up the gate before it hit my head. Prior incidents results in the door hitting my head.
I have taken my car to the mechanic several times now, and every single time they tell me there is nothing showing but an emissions code. I'm told it is the gas cap to replace it. My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007 laredo about 149,000 miles on it. Normally, it runs like a champ. I get oil changes like clockwork, and every time it's suggested to fix something, I do it. It stalls very frequently at stop signs / stop lights, and I need to leave lots of room between me and other cars so I can steadily inch forward while waiting at the red light, otherwise it will die. It starts up fine, but stopping again and it will die again. It's to the point now that I'm scared to drive my own vehicle. Stalls / dies, especially when the a/c is on mechanic says they've run diagnostics on the car and the only thing it shows is the emissions code. I'm told yet again to replace the gas cap. This has happened since I have owned the vehicle. It idles rough and has done all of this since I purchased it in December of 2016.
My Jeep had been functioning fine until recently when I went to start it the lights would go on but the engine would not catch. I have brought it to a Jeep dealership and their diagnosis was that I need a new ignition switch which is on recall. It has been over 1 year since I was notified of the recall and there is no part available. My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee is now unreliable as I never know when it may or may not start. This is unacceptable. I should receive compensation for the loss of a vehicle and will more than likely have to trade it in. I'm wondering if it even has any value?.
Water leaks from what seems to be the moon roof into the car from the top of the interior windshield.
Hi, I have been having a lot of problems with my truck. I have contacted the Chrysler recall center concerning the ignition switch and the safety of my vehicle. I have expressed over and over again that I do not feel safe in the vehicle. My truck will without warning begin to want to stop as if I am gliding then accelerates randomly. The 800 # sent me to a service center that updated system computer upgrades but it obviously has not helped the situation. I am a single more of 5 that has not option but to drive this vehicle for work and to take my children places. They only answer is that I have to wait until the part is available. This is not acceptable. Sometime all of my shift lights will go on at one time and my malfunction light now stays on. I pay almost $500 a month in car payments for a vehicle that is despite what Chrysler's 800 # states is okay to drive. I need help.
Hi I am in canada but my issue below affect dozens of vehicles I know of in the USA I see that you are investigating the 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee not going into park. I also have been having this problem with my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo diesel with mercedes engine as have many others who are online . I have put my car in park and had it roll away on a several occasions (more than 7). I have had my transmission rebuilt 3 times, transfer case and transmission replaced completely from another vehicle and the problem persists. It happens primarily in the winter below 30 degrees (-4c). I am not the only one with this issue and have conversations with many owners across the USA. It also happens while driving at highway speed that the transmission will go into neutral causing safety issues, engine redlining if cruise is on then the transmission going into limp mode, requiring me to cut across traffic under no power to the shoulder and turning off and on the car (to reset limp mode) to get going again. This has happened more than 50 times, sometimes coming very close to collision as the vehicle slows quickly when power fails. My mechanic says its software or electronicrelated but the dealer says all software is up to date. I have spent almost $9,000. 00 to date trying to find this and no one has a clue. I know this is a defect but feel that you have the power to move this forward thank you for your time and hope for a reply.
I was driving down squirrel at approximately 5:40pm and going around 45-50mph when suddenly my car jerked and completely stalled and shut off. I lost all control of my car and I could not steer to go onto the grass. I immediately put my hazards on and came to a stop and restarted my car. This issue has been happening since September 1st. It has been in and out of the shop for the same issue since September 1st. It's been in and out of the shop about 10-15 times for the same issue. I have spent over $2,100 in repairs, fixes, and replacements. This issue is clearly not fixed and this is a serious safety concern. They keep releasing me a car that is completely unsafe to drive. This not only happened once, but this has happened every single time they have released me my car.
All of the vehicle dash lights and accessories lose power momentarily and intermittently. It's almost as if someone is turning the ignition switch off, but the engine seems to stay running. Vehicle loses acceleration if on an upward slope while this is happening. It is momentary and intermittently recurs at times. I have not noticed if it affects braking due to the very momentary nature of this problem.
I have been waiting since sept 2014 for ignition switch recall. And every time I call they state there are no parts available. This is a very dangerous situation with people dying please help me find out what else I can do to get this recall completed.
The first incident occurred in a brief manner. The vehicle would not start, system stated that the vehicle was not in gear. I turned the key to off. Then tried again and the vehicle started. I left in the vehicle without incident several other times that day. The next day I attempted to start the vehicle, it would not start. One of the attempts the break would not depress. After several other attempts (of on to off) the vehicle started. Ran normal. Once turned off it would not restart. The breaks are normal again. All electrical cables are attached, no corrosion. Vehicle has full power to other components. Yet the starter is not engaging. The system is not showing any errors. We called chrystler (not a dealer), according to our VIN they determined that the vehicle is not included in any of the ignition recalls.
It usually takes a good 10 to 15 minutes to start sometimes then when I do get it started I have the same issues that I have read about on this website and many other websites. The car will not go over 20 miles per hour and you have to pull off the road, turn off the vehicle, wait and turn it back on. It is almost like the Jeep has to be reset. I have talked with several people and had the codes ran. It keeps coming up that it is the solenoid and starter. I have read on many blogs about the same issue that the solenoid wires are not protected from rain water in this vehicle and it causes them to corrode or go bad all together. This is an issue that needs to be recalled. If they know that the wires are not protected from rain water then there needs to be some type of protection that they can put over them or install a different kind of wire. This is costing people hundreds of dollars to repair something that should have never been an issue. Also this is a safety hazard because when we pull out on the road we expect our vehicle to excel properly and go over 20 miles per hour.
I had received a notice in the mail regarding a recall on my Jeep. I have called multiple dealerships and have been told that the parts haven't even been distributed yet. When I called again recently I was told the parts weren't even made yet and to make sure nothing heavy was hanging from my keys. Use my car everyday and I'm concerned for my safety. There has been multiple times were the car has shut off on my and/ or has had no power to it when driving. I feel as though no one is helping us with this matter. I would like answers instead of being left in the dark. Thank you for your time.
While driving car it bucked several times and then would not go over 25 mph. I bought the car in Aug 2009, 1 time was Nov 12 2009, then again Mar 15 2013 and then again Jul 21 2014. All three times the esm shift module had to be replaced. The first time the dealer replace but the last two times I have had to replace at a thousand dollars. I have called Chrysler as this is a reoccurring problem they have assigned a case number 25348880. In checking online for issues this is a reoccurring problem with Jeep Grand Cherokee's. If I had been on the highway and the speed dropped to 25 mph I could have been rear ended or worse killed.
I received a recall notice from Jeep Chrysler in July of 2014 stating a defect within the ignition switch but Jeep didn't have the part available to fix the problem. It has now been 8 months and Jeep still does not have the part to repair the defect. This could cause an accident and I keep contacting Jeep and they keep saying. . . . We don't have the part, we'll let you know when we do. That is unacceptable as the issue could cause an accident and it has been 8 months and they still don't know when the part will be available. I believe Chrysler is acting criminally and I would like them to either fix my vehicle so it is safe to drive or reimburse me for the car so I can purchase a vehicle that is safe.
I bought a used 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 years ago in alabama. We have since moved to new york state and they do vehicle inspections (alabama does not). When getting the vehicle inspected it was discovered that the cut out for the check engine light on the instrument panel is non existent. All other cut outs are present and the led for the check engine light is present and working. The instrument panel is stamped as being original and not aftermarket. Because there is not a cut out the led for the check engine light is not visible with the instrument panel installed and will not pass inspection. I have contacted my local Jeep dealership (fx caprara) and they told me today that I have to pay to fix it. A new panel being $600 and a used panel from my local pick and pull being $125. I called Jeep customer service today and they again told me Jeep can't do anything and that it is up to the dealerships. I don't understand why it would be up to me to pay for this. It is a manufacturer defect and should be corrected on that level. I did my due diligence when purchasing the car but one cannot be expected to pull the dash panel to ensure all the cut outs are present. This needs to be resolved quickly as it cannot be used until it passes inspection. It also posses a safety concern as you are unable to know if there is a code present. Please get back to me with a resolution in a timely manner.
In may of 2014 I replaced my starter because when I would attempt to start my vehicle it would crank but the engine would not turn over. The condition persisted even after putting on an new starter. I eventually went to a Jeep dealer and they were unable to remedy the problem. I received a recall notice from Chrysler about p41/NHTSA 14v-438 recall but was not given a time frame as to when I would be able to take the vehicle in for servicing. In the meantime I continue to drive the one vehicle and it has continued to not start in instances when I need it most. It has done so while my wife had the vehicle which has caused me great distress as she was alone and panicked when it happened. The vehicle does start eventually after about 20 minutes or so. This is unsafe and unacceptable. We spoke to a representative at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and she told us she could not say when the part would be available. She went on to say we could wait it out or trade it in and basically tack on the amount owed on to the purchase of another vehicle. This is not an option. This situation is very inconvenient as I use the vehicle primarily to commute to work and if unable to drive to work our household income will take a huge blow. We seek remedy. Marc terameau.
The vehicle is equipped with air pressure sensing tire valves that are made of a substandard metal that corrodes and breaks. The first time I had an issue the tip of the valve broke and the tire could not be inflated. The second time, today, the valve broke in half and the tire deflated in about ten seconds. Fortunately, the vehicle was not moving. I replaced the part at the dealer the first time and they stated it was a known issue with the part and that a new part had been made that would not corrode. The fact that it has happened on two of the four sensors shows this is not an uncommon problem. Clearly such a blow out at highway speeds would have put my life and the lives of those near me in jeopardy.
