Every time it rains the Jeep wont start been to the garage twice they all think its the starter but then you let it sit once its all dry it fires right up so no one is sure why abd whats happening but happens every rain storm.
Had my low mileage/ perfectly maintained Jeep in for service. They performed the n23 recall because of a faulty chip that causes the transfer case to go into neutral and roll away. A week or so after having this performed I went to lock my Jeep into 4wd low and my "service 4wd" message appears. Is reading the same code everyone else with this problem is having after having the n23 recall performed. 4wd low worked flawlessly when I used it the week before taking it into the dealer. Whats funny is the service writer said "there have been a few cases the 4wd low stops working, but those cars had high mileage" when I asked him what the recall was and if anything bad had come from it.
My complaint is with the dealer. I received a recall notice regarding the transfer case actuator. When making the appointment with the dealer they agreed to look at it. Once I drove out to the dealership they refused to even look at the case since there is no fix yet available. I'm not happy that they even would look. So I feel that the dealer failed to remedy this defect in a reasonable time. I understand their is no fix yet, but to not even look brothers me. I'm a mother of three with one more on the way and I wish my dealer would of even listen and looked.
No accident has occured yet, but I have a big concern for my family's safety. Recall on this vehicle has been postponed, ignored and postponed for more than a year. . . Urgent repairs, corrections needed to be made for safty. While driving on hwy the car has completly turned off, driving it has just stopped fo not reason and brake lights malfunction as well as while backing up the car turns off. My husband and I are seniors with this as out only transportation for our drs, grocery and care needs. We also have our grandchildren we drop off and pick up from school (10+13 yrs) unsafe for all but only options we have. Please assist us to get our vehicle repaired already, this is urgently needed. Daily we are stuggling to get to around and need a reliable, safe means of transportation. I have been calling ancira Chrysler Jeep since 2014 and crysler group for some time now also but no solution nor repairs have been scheduled. I have spoken to alyssa, paula and ancira chysler Jeep Dodge as well (service dept) but no assistance to a solution given.
Purchased 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7 on 11/30/2012. On 12/04/2012 I experienced stalling while decelerating to stop for a stop light, then the vehicle stalled showing code p0884. The vehicle started right back up when I turned the key with no signs of hesitation. Ever since that day, my vehicle stalls on average about 8-10 times per week depending on how often I use the vehicle. It stalls mainly during idle or coming to a stop and the most frightening stall I have experienced was when I was traveling at 60mph on a major highway and the vehicle completely stalled, and instantly restarted itself. Both times I experienced stalling at high speed was when I was doing about 60mph and both times the vehicle restarted itself on its own. But every time the vehicle stalls, I loose all power including power steering which worries me very much. Apparently I am not the only 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland with the 5. 7 motor owner experiencing this problem. I am one of the hundreds on owners involved in a group discussion on Jeepforum. Com where we discuss this problem and steps that Jeep, private mechanics, and/or owners themselves have taken to correct this stalling problem. This problem has been going on for years and no one seems to have a solution. Loss of power at 60mph is a very big issue and I worry that someone can be very hurt or killed by loss of power steering during stalling. I hope this issue raises concerns for my vehicle and I would be more than willing to allow someone from the NHTSA come and test drive my vehicle to experience what I and hundreds, possibly thousands of others are experiencing. Thank you very much and if you should have any questions in regards to this problem, please do not hesitate to contact me any time.
I purchased 07 Jeep 10/20/2012 shortly after it stalled in car wash about a week later it stalled again. The problem soon began to stall on interstate and recovers at higher speeds. As time passes the problem is happening at least 8 times a week mostly while idling or coasting.
Vehicle started stalling, first it would stall at low speeds, usually coming to a stop. Now the vehicle is stalling at highway speeds leaving it open for a deadly situation. At highway speeds, the vehicle will lose power, you will not be able to accelerate and the oil light will come on. Have tried putting the vehicle into neutral to resart during coasting but you need to turn the key all they way off and then restart. Will usually restart immediately. Called Chrysler to see if there were any recalls, there are none but they recommend replacing the power control module or electronic control module. If they recommended replacing a part that leads me to believe there is a known problem with those parts. The woman on the phone did not seem concerned my vehicle was stalling out on the highway even after I mentioned I just had a baby. I have had a private mechanic check it out an no codes come up.
On four separate occasions my Jeep has randomly not started after being turned off and parked. The first time I had to have it towed to the shop and have it checked out. The mechanic could find nothing wrong: starter, alternator, battery, & electrical systems all seemed fine. The car finally started with no repair work being performed. This has happened (3) more times since August, the latest being today. There is no rhyme nor reason to how or why it happens. I have since learned of the ignition switch recall by Jeep/Chrysler, and it supposedly affects the year and model of my Jeep. I have been told that the ignition switch recall may very well be the reason for my problem, but as of yet I have received no official recall notice for my car. When I am out driving and have to park I am now afraid to turn my car off for fear it wont start again. Likewise, I am also afraid the car is just going to turn itself off when I am driving. I called the Jeep dealership closest to me and was informed that they have not been officially notified as to how the recall process is going to work for the ignition switch issue, so they are unable to do anything for me at this time. They are also unsure as to when they will receive any information.
Auto transmission gear shift not shifting into gears correctly; loss power around curves; sometimes engine light comes on; sometimes all gear indicators come on dash; feels as though can't accelerate when entering onto highway or passing. Nothing done yet. Called dealer, online searches. Very very many same-similar online & very expensive repair $700+. Appears to be defective part & should be recall/dealer replace/repair!!.
Today while driving on a highway at approximately 35-40mph my vehicle stalled. I had come to a complete stop and was awaiting a traffic light change. When the light changed and I stepped on the accelerator the vehicle began to hesitate and jerk and the esp/bas light, malfunction indicator light (check engine) and a message stating transmission over temp came on. I was in the left lane and immediately put on my flashers. The driver behind realized that I was in trouble and put on his as well. After I was able to roll to the shoulder, I immediately turned the vehicle off. After waiting approximately 5mins, I restarted the vehicle and continued to drive slowly and carefully to my office since I was just 2 blocks from work. This experience scared me because had this happened while I was driving at the 60-65 mph rate on this very busy highway, I could have been hurt. After reading several of the other complaints, I can also relate to the complaint about the tires having had to replace a broken stem after owning the vehicle only 2 days and I currently still have water leaking into my vehicle on raining days on the passenger side and now through the lights. I drive on the highway daily and after today's stall out, I am afraid to drive this vehicle. I called the dealership today and explained my issues and told the service manager about all of the lights and he told me the car was probably cold and if the lights don't go out I can bring it in on Saturday. Well today is Wednesday and I will not drive that car again. Since the dealership is quite a distance from my home, I will have the car towed so that it can be checked out. I am very uncomfortable with the idea of ever driving this vehicle again. I transport children as part of my job from time to time and I could never forgive myself if something was to happen to them while we are riding in this vehicle.
The factory installed tow hitch has too much play (clearance or slip fit). When you install a standard size receiver(male) you can move it up and down . 500 of an inch or more. It is way too sloppy of a fit. This will lead to lock pin wear and in an extreme case, pin shear. This is an accident waiting to happen. Please inspect this fit.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. The contact stated that the towing hitch extender moves up and down. He stated that the hitch should be secured. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 4,000.
