1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2019

Car will stay at 40 mph as if locked into that speed. I press down on the gas pedal but the car will not go any faster. I have to pull over and turn the car off, when restarted it works fine for a while. Then randomly it will happen again. This has occurred roughly once a month for the past year. On line there are thousands of Jeep owners reporting the same issue. I called Jeep but they said car was out of warranty so tough luck. I have owned 23 cars and have never had a car do this to me. Other people have driven this car with the same issues. This has happened both on the highway and on rural streets.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2019

Engine stalls no matter what speed I'm going. Happens more often when coming to a stop. It's as if I just turn the key off. When it stalls, I stop and put it in park, turn the key off and start it right back up and take off. It's becoming a dangerous safety concern.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

I would be driving and randomly it did hard shifts then it just stopped. The vehicle would be driving and loose speed and not go over 30 mph. The rpm are at 2500 at 30 mph and I can push the pedal to the floor and it goes no faster.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

My 2007 Jeep g. Cherokee can be on the highway traveling 55 mph and then decided to die. It will shut off and cannot increase speed. I have a one year old in the back seat and this has happened to many times while having my son the back seat and trying to get over to the break down lane before it completely dies. Also doesn't start some days some will. Defiantly have electrical proven like in the recall. 8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2016

Vehicle has had the ignition recall done. In the hot weather, you can't run the air conditioning as the car will indiscriminately stall when you come to either a stop light or a yield. Car has to be put in park and restarted. Last week, when merging onto a highway, rpms went all the way down. Had to floor the car to get going and it knocked very hard. Had Jeep dealer look at this several times and they keep saying there's nothing wrong with the car. There is a problem here that Jeep is not addressing. They don't want to give a fair buy back price on the car, knowing we have a 19 year old driving the vehicle. Our local mechanic has said this is a very unsafe car and he wouldn't put his family in it. Jeep dealers don't want to face the problem or address it. This has been an issue for over a year, but becomes more apparent in summer months of hot weather.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2015

The dashboard went blank, no speed information, etc, all the warning lights lite up as if the vehicle was being started. Steering became hard, was a very scary moment!.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Hi, I have been having a lot of problems with my truck. I have contacted the Chrysler recall center concerning the ignition switch and the safety of my vehicle. I have expressed over and over again that I do not feel safe in the vehicle. My truck will without warning begin to want to stop as if I am gliding then accelerates randomly. The 800 # sent me to a service center that updated system computer upgrades but it obviously has not helped the situation. I am a single more of 5 that has not option but to drive this vehicle for work and to take my children places. They only answer is that I have to wait until the part is available. This is not acceptable. Sometime all of my shift lights will go on at one time and my malfunction light now stays on. I pay almost $500 a month in car payments for a vehicle that is despite what Chrysler's 800 # states is okay to drive. I need help.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2013

Same description as many other consumers. Slow, rough acceleration at all times. Very difficult to accelerate especially when entering freeway. Need to pull over on ramp and turn off vehicle in hopes that restart will help. Vehicle will stall while driving on freeway. Just completely shuts down. Very dangerous for driver and those around driver. Have to attempt to get to side of road and turn off vehicle and hope that upon restart vehicle will improve. Too many complaints over the years have gone unheeded and an immediate recall needs to be done before serious injuries or deaths occur.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

While I am driving my Jeep will buck and shut down. I then had to make my way over to the side of the road on the highway while cars are going 65mph or greater and my speed is slowing down. When I was able to pull over and stop. I had to remove the key and place the car in park before it would start. The first few times I tried while in neutral and moving to the side of the highway it would just continue to click and keep clicking. This has been happening several times a day now and my route to work is 95% highway. It is scary that someone might hit me and cause a terrible accident. I noticed this has happened to several Jeeps around the world with the same issue. I noticed a recall for the Jeep going into neutral but nothing about this major issue about the car bucking and stalling while driving. I noticed my Jeep had its ignition switch changed out some time ago also. I wonder if he had problems before he traded. I have no other car to drive or I would and I have spent over $500 trying to find out what the issue is. Please start investigating before someone gets hurt.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

The car was a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Once again as I was driving my vehicle shut down (jerked real hard) and I lost all driving capability etc power steering, speed control. . . . . I was driving on the freeway when my Jeep shut down it was during morning rush hour traffic. It was hard for me to glide over to the shoulder when everyone around you is going 60 mph and you have no power steering. When I was able to get to the shoulder I placed the Jeep in park and turned the vehicle off and removed the key and put the key back in and it started right up. This has been happening everyday now and why searching the internet I've ran across on here and elsewhere that I am not the only one having problems like this with my year and make. It is really dangerous and im surprised there hasn't been a recall yet or a terrible possible fatal accident due to the vehicle being non responsive in fast heavy traffic. This engine shut off without warning. I'm getting tired of going to different shops and no one knows what is wrong. Apparently Jeep has made a bad truck since this is a wide spread problem around the world for this year and model.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

As I was driving my car jerked real hard and all my dash lights came on and my ability to drive my car was useless. My Jeep slowed down on the freeway during morning rush hour traffic almost causing several accidents. As I was trying to restart my Jeep it just keep making a clicking noise and wouldn't stop. I had to pull the key from the ignition and reinsert the key and try to start the Jeep. After 3 tries it started and I went to drive off and as I was accelerating my Jeep did it again finally it stayed on and I was able to drive to a safe location. My Jeep sounded real strange not like normal. This is the 7 th or 8th time this has happened since I had my Jeep not even a year to date.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2013

Started with traction control light flashing, then it slowed vehicle felt like brakes were on, gave it more gas and got no speed increase, pressed on the brake and then it seemed to surge and speed up on its own. This was unexpected acceleration &could have lost control. After this! it went back to normal driving. Next day took a 110 mile trip traveling 70 mph on highway no issues until I arrived at destination pulled into driveway and put in park and several warning lights came on abs, esp, bas, &traction control light flashing & service 4 wheel drive. . . I had no problems until I stopped. . . When I started up to return home all the above lights stayed on backed up out of driveway , when I put it in drive and gave it gas it started to make a bad grinding sound like metal on metal a clunking sound and did no¿t respond to fuel peddle. I increased speed then I felt it release like park brake being released. . . It drove normal back home dash lights still on,. . . 110 mile trip doing 70 most of the way. . . At home I used the built in vehicle scanner and got code u1417 which indicates front left wheel sensor. . . I replaced both sides same grinding sound, replaced the 2 back sensor. . . ¦ now I have no lights on dash and no grinding clunking sounds no sounds at all. But when I drive I get the traction control light flashing giving it gas I can no¿t accelerate above 25 mph ,seems to release at lower speeds below 25mph but it feels like the brakes are on and something it decreasing engine power. . . This is a dangerous problem! when I pulled unto traffic and I could no¿t get up to speed I almost got into a broadside accident. . . I thought I had fixed the problem tested it in my driveway no dash lights on ,and no grinding or clunking sound¦ so what is it now? . . . Is it some traction control problem seems to be a fathom problem a lot of Jeep owners are having!!.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

I was driving my 2007 Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7l hemi and the truck just cuts off with no warning and then all the warning lights came on and car stopped in the middle of the road during morning rush hour traffic. Car restarted after a few tries and the key was removed from the ignition. As I see this is an on going issue with the 5. 7l hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee overland's and there has been no resolution to this problem. It can cause a major accident and a huge lawsuit against Jeep. This should be seriously looked into an a recall should be done for all the other Jeep owners that have this same problem all over the untied states.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

As I was driving my car jerked real hard and all my dash lights came on and my ability to drive my car was useless. My Jeep slowed down on the freeway during morning rush hour traffic almost causing several accidents. As I was trying to restart my Jeep it just keep making a clicking noise and wouldn't stop. After 3 tries it started and I went to drive off and as I was accelerating my Jeep did it again finally it stayed on and I was able to drive to a safe location. My Jeep sounded real strange not like normal. This is the 5 or 6th time this has happened since I had my Jeep not even a year to date.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

Summary: the vehicle experienced significantly reduced power while driving in freeway traffic. It was necessary to move to the far right lane and exit the traffic flow. This has happened on several occasions. It is unsafe when the condition occurs in heavy traffic.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2012

I was driving 65 miles per hour on the expressway, when suddenly, my Jeep began to decelerate until it reached about 40 miles per hour, even though I maintained constant pressure on the accelerator pedal. It felt like I had no control over the speed of the vehicle. Traffic was light so I coasted, and pressed the pedal a little harder, until eventually, the SUV lurched and then started to accelerate. About 3 minutes later, the same thing happened again while I was still driving on the expressway. The vehicle decelerate to 35 while it seemed that I could not control the speed, and then accelerated again. After the acceleration dropped and then increased the second time, I was able to maintain 65 miles per hour until I exited the expressway 15 miles later near my home. Driving a vehicle under these conditions is a horrible feeling! I was so afraid that a car or truck moving at the normal speed would crash into me. If the traffic had been heavier, I would have had to pull over to the side of the highway, which would have been even more terrifying, because it was dark outside, and I had no idea what was going on or how long I would be stranded. We just had the SUV's engine tuned one month ago at the dealer's service center, and we also had the oil changed at the same time. There haven't been any episodes like this until now. I'm actually afraid to drive the Jeep again!.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2012

This is a continuing issue. The speed will suddenly decrease to 30 miles per hour without any action on drivers part. This is dangerous, especially on busy roads. We were told it was the front control module but after reading reviews it doesn't solve the problem. Chrysler should be held responsible to identify the problem, then issue a recall. They are not interested in doing anything. We bailed them out?.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2012

Jeep looses power, will not accelerate over 30 mph. This has not happen on a highway yet (luckily) only in-town driving. No error codes present in dtc report or from a diagnostic that cost $90. 00 something needs to be done about this before an accident results in a fatality. There seems to me many instances like this on these boards. This is the first investment of a 'real' vehicle that I've had. To pay money for something dependable is the goal. Currently this vehicle is not dependable, let alone safe.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

For a couple years my Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced several episodes of ignition shut off. I spoke with my local dealer and they said it was not an issue with Jeep, only some Dodge models. I paid to have a 2nd computerized key made at the dealership, as Dodge was saying their issue was related to the driver having other keys on ignition key ring. This way I had a single ignition key. Still experienced the issue. Last time I was making a left hand turn from a subdivision on to a busy 2 lane hwy with a posted speed of 50 miles per hr. Ignition shut off as I started to cross the right hand lane. Fortunately I had enough forward momentum to clear traffic and came to rest on the left hand shoulder by a farmers field. I finally received in the mail the official Chrysler recall notice for my Jeep due to ignition shut off. Called my local dealer this morning to set up an appointment, although the recall said they would contact me. With several incidents, I felt time was critical. My dealer advised me they had not received the official recall notification from Chrysler and therefore could not schedule the repair free of charge. If however I wanted to pay for the repair they could schedule. I advised them that was not acceptable. Emailed Chrysler customer relations and here also, my dissatisfaction and what appears to be a wonton disregard for human safety by a manufacture and their representative.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2012

I bought my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland in June of 2011 with 52095 miles on it. In March of 2012, I experienced the first of many stalls happen to the Jeep with 60,980 miles on it. It has random, unpredictable stall outs that happened through out the year. It seems to stall when accelerating however not all the time. It's stalled while driving on the highway (mass pike or rt. 9) and on side roads. I have not observed any precursors to the stalling. When it stalls, it bucks and then the Jeep does not accelerate however the lights come on, just like what happens when a manual vehicle is stalled. These types of stall outs I experience do not happen all the time. What happens sometimes is the Jeep will buck, like it's going to stall, but it doesn't after slamming on the accelerator. After a stall out, I am able to restart the Jeep after a minute or two. The engine light has never come on, just the oil light. This Jeep has had the ignition connector and software replaced twice in over a period of two years. It's been replaced because of a stored code: fcmcgw b2185 . There are two other codes stored in the computer: pcm p0884 and abs c12k. I have taken the Jeep to dan's Jeep in westborough, MA since the first stall out to the present. The recent stall out was Friday, January 11th. This stall out was a little different because "programming assess" (something like that) appeared on the dash with a blinking red light. Everytime I bring the Jeep to dan's, they give me the same response to the problem. . . They don't' know why this is happening and I can start replacing parts to see if it corrects the problem. I do not have the finances to just keep replaces parts to see if it'll correct this serious and unsafe problem with the Jeep and Chrysler has not reported how to fix this or made the step forward to fix it.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

I purchased this vehicle on December 14, 2011. About three weeks later in a parking lot, we noticed the vehicle would not accelerate even though the accelerator pedal was pushed virtually all the way down. A few days later the engine warning light came on. Then the lack of acceleration happened on the interstate. My mechanic cleared the engine warning light but it came back on a few days later. I did a lot of research and it appears this is a common problem on Jeep vehicles. The problem is a failure of the electronic shift module. It if very expensive to have replaced. My local dealership charged me $924 plus tax. As many comments as I have seen on this and the fact that lack of acceleration is a safety issue, Jeep should not hesitate in issuing a recall.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2011

While I was driving home last night 12/16/11 with my fiancee we stopped at a traffic light, and when the light turned green the Jeep started back up fine all except it couldn't go faster than 20 miles per hour. So I put my flashers on and the traffic behind me went around us, then it worked itself out, but did it again when I came to another traffic light. But this time I was able to use my manual shift to help it. No warning lights came on. And I just purchased this Jeep 2 days ago. I would like to get this safety issue fixed since I have seen that this is a dangerous and common problem with the other 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokees. I am also a firefighter and I depend on this Jeep to get me to fire scenes and other emergency scenes, and I don't want to be in an emergency scene involving me due to the safety issues this Jeep is having. Can someone please do a recall and have this issue fixed.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2011

Curious as to why Jeep hasn't recalled and fixed the electronic shift module. It is a very dangerous problem that needs attention. Thank you. Tt.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2011

Owned the 07 Jeep for 5 months. Vehicle has been serviced for 2 different incidents. The 1st incindent(actually happened several times) is when the vehicle would not shift during acceleration and it would force me to the side of the road where I would have to turn the vehicle on and off until it would run correctly. Was told by dealership service that it was a transmission sensor, had the part replaced-not covered by warranty. Less then 3 weeks later, 2nd incident occured when I was driving 55mph down the interstate while acclerating to get over to an exit, the vehicle threw itself back into 2nd gear and I was forced to get over into the emergency lane so as not to be struck by oncoming traffic. The Jeep had almost come to a complete stop in traffic! check engine light came on and went off after that. Dealership states the gear ratio and valve cover forced the vehicle into 2nd gear. Very dangerous!.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2011

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated after sitting at a stop light and getting ready to move the vehicle will take three to four seconds before moving. Whenever the vehicle gets ready to move it will take off very fast causing the brake to be depressd very quickly. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer as yet. The manufacturer was contacted who offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 65,000. Mw.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2011

Shortly after changing the spark plugs in my wife's 2007 Grand Cherokee overland the vehicle would stall on deceleration. I thought it might be an isolated incident, but the stalling continued frequently. The engine completely shuts down and the vehicle must be stopped or put in neutral while coasting to be restarted. After conducting some internet research I found this to be a common problem with the 2007 Grand Cherokees with hemi's. I was amazed at the number of occurrences of this happening among this vehicle. . Read more...

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2011

Upon acceleration from stop vehicle will hesitate and lose power. This constitutes a hazard to vehicle and any approching vehicles during a turn. Inspection indicates that transmission electronic control module is at fault along with a possible transmission sensor failure. The check engine light will come on. Both of these conditions ( power and check engine ) are intermittant, indicating that the module is faulty. There have been many complaints about the transmission ecm on these vehicles. The other complaints have varying symptoms but all go back to the transmission ecm. These unit should be recalled and repaired or replaced at manufacturers cost. This problem exists in many different models and years of vehicles, but always go back to this ecm unit. After investigating this problem I don't feel that the consumer is at fault or causing this to occur. Chrysler modules are and have been faulty in the past. Annecdotal evidence says that other modules in Chrysler vehicles have had problems too. Please investigate the Chrysler transmission ecm's and have them recalled.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2010

I was not able to control the speed of my vehicle during acceleration. When I accelerated, the car would significantly decrease in speed almost as if it was running in low gear. It has happened at least 4 times since I purchased the car brand new. Today at 60,000 mi it happened twice. A few months ago I tried to merge onto the freeway and lost power which was very dangerous and I had to turn on the hazard light and quickly pull over to the shoulder. I noticed all of the lights [ p, r, n, d] on the dash board were on. The car seems to reset when I shift to park or turn the ignition off and then on. The problem happens intermittently. I believe that this could be a manufacture defect. I took the car to 2 authorized Jeep Chrysler dealerships to get it checked out. One dealership told me that they've never heard of the problem, another one found a code u0404 but didn't know what it meant. I find this extremely dangerous and could be a manufacture defect.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

The first incident happened when my Jeep Grand Cherokee unknowingly shifted into neutral while driving down my neighborhood road. I was not aware of this until I tried to increase my speed and was not able to. I then had to turn off the car and turn it back on. This has happened three times since 2011.
