Car will decelerate, and will not respond to depressing of the accelerator pedal. Occurs at various speeds and traffic conditions. Contacted dealership, began to describe issue, without describing the make and model, and the repair-shop was able to then tell me the make and model of my vehicle without me previously disclosing. (already had gear shift module replaced once before, and since the issue occurred 14 months later, dealership refuses to cover expense of replacement. ) this is a very dangerous issue, and as stated before, occurs at various times and traffic conditions, and there are no preceding warnings or other indicators that foreshadow the occurrence. Car is now at 42,000 miles, yet it is in need of a 3rd shift module, seems highly unlikely. Dealership needs to declare a recall or when the customer has the problem, they fix it without further expense to the consumer. I bought this Jeep new, and its my 4th one, however, I am extremely disappointed with their customer service, and the quality of vehicle they are producing, and will not ever purchase their vehicles again.
This problem has occurred almost every day for two months. I will describe one incident, which occurred this evening around 11pm. I was driving on the highway in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee when my accelerator stopped having any effect on my car. All of the gauges died (so the fuel reported empty, the speedometer said I was not moving, etc) - all of this while traveling at 65mph. I had to pull over, turn the car off and back on, and all of the problems went away. As I've said, this has happened once a day for the past two months. So far there appears to be no fix for the problem.
I cannot remember the exact dates 1- vehicle would not start intermittently - throttle control modular replaced 2- vehicle would not start starter replaced 3- all dash warning lights keep going on and off vehicle lost power - engine light stayed on wiring and wiring harness replaced. 4- all warning lights kept going on and off lost power - engine light finally stayed on dealer just reset the computer. 5-all warning light went on lost power again then abs esp traction control lights on - broken wire fixed in the wiring that was replaced. 6-all warning lights just went on again vehicle has 58k miles lost power now abs esp and traction control lights are on.
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, throttle problems. ( at low speeds 5mph -25mph) vehicle hesitates sometime when you take off, sometimes it jumps off the line, some days you go around a corner and push the throttle and it don't do anything, then it takes off real quickly. When going up and down hills it hesitates or surges and changes gears abruptly. I took to dealer and they said it was common and did a computer re-flash at no cost. It dint help anything. There were 2 other Jeeps there for the same problem. The dealer wants me to bring it back and leave it for the day so they can try to fix it. I wonder how many people have to die over something like this. I wonder how many people complained and died over the Toyota problems before anyone investigated? its a real problem, look around on some of the Jeep forums under idle or throttle problems. I found about 100 other complains about the same problems im having in about 15 minutes.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle speed decreased without warning. The contact continued to depress the gas pedal and the vehicles speed eventually increased. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000: (electrical system), however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Sw.
I had made a left turn, begin to accelerate, and all of a sudden, car begun to shut down, car slowed down, until it came to a stop. Took car to dealer, problem was not fixed, continued to have same problem over next several years. I was unaware, and never received a notice of recall for transmission problem. I turned the power off, wait about 1 minute, started vehicle and it ran fine. During the ride, electrical panel began to flash, everything was turning on and off. Gas gauge, and every other gauge on the panel went up and down. Every light on the panel flashed on and off. This has happen many times over the years as well. I recently took vehicle to dealership in November 2013, who told me they could not fine anything wrong with my car. Just in the last few weeks I have had this electrical problem, March 2014. What is wrong with my car, how can I get is fixed? what do I do if I have a recalled vehicle?.
Check engine light continues to come on at random. When it does, problems accelerating. Car will not accelerate past 20 or sometimes car "sputters" jerking a lot. Sometimes at red lights, rail road crossings, anything really where the car is stopped, car will not resume driving and car sounds like it is in neutral and I am reving it up. Electronic dash puts a bracket over each gear, p r n d, all at once. When engine light is on it is on for a period of days. When I turn the car on and put it in to drive it makes the most horrible sound as if I backed into a wall and jerks. Sometimes on the highway when the light is on it's as if I smell something burning through my air vents. Everytime I take it to the dealer or any shop just for a diagnosis it's just my luck that the light turns off and they tell me my car is fine. This car needs to be recalled from looking at the complaints!!!.
While driving, the prndl had lit boxes around all the letters, and dash indicators all lit up, and Jeep lost power as if stalling. It then "went" back into drive on its own. This happened over eleven times, with mileage starting at 1,186, and most recently at 52,536. Dates of repair incidents are : 2/12/07, 12/31/07, 1/10/08, 9/22/08, 1/5/09, 6/9/09, 6/18/12, 10/19/12, 12/26/12, 3/8/13, 3/22/13. My Jeep is a 2007, averaging 8,756 miles per year. I bought it new and I take very good care of all maintenance right away - oil changes, filters, tire rotation, etc. ! each time it was brought to the dealer for "repair" , they either couldn't find the problem, or replaced : shifter module (twice), transmission wiring harness (three times) and suggested a new battery (we replaced that also), and transmission plug and seal. There were also numerous "software and anti-theft updates. In addition to these, I replaced the driver's side window regulator twice. Now, they want to replace the "transmission temp circ. " and esm module - for another $1,500. 00 . All this in 52,536 miles and 6 years !!! I firmly believe there are serious manufacturer defects with this vehicle. My biggest concern is the safety of this Jeep is unpredictable. I never know, even after all the "repairs and replacements" , if it will suddenly lose power and I might be in danger (traffic, intersection, etc. ). How in the world could Chrysler deny this problem? it needs to be resolved at the source, they are responsible for the safety of their vehicles !!!! there are many reports of this same issue from numerous 2007 Jeep owners - where is the recall ???!!!!.
The contact owns a 2007 Grand Cherokee. While driving 5 mph, the traction control system activated when he hit a bump. As a result, the vehicle would not accelerate. The traction control would deactivate after approximately two seconds and the vehicle would accelerate. The contact stated that his foot would stick when he attempted to depress the brake pedal. He felt that an electrical box caused the failure. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The current mileage was 23,587 and failure mileage was 600. Updated 01-10-08. The consumer stated failures occurred frequently. Updated 12/31/07.
