36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

My Jeep stalls every month or every month. I have brought it to the dealershipt for over a year regarding this issue. Jeep stalls while driving at low and high rate of speeds. This mostly happens to me at high rate of speed. My road is a 50 mph road and I have had to pull off to the side of the road and restart my Jeep. This is very dangerous no matter what road I am on, but I do live on a major road which has lots of traffic. The dealership cannot seem to find what is the cause of this stalling and says no codes show in the computer. I put the latest stalling episode above. Chrysler really needs to step-up and fix this issue. I am not the only one with this problem.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

The ignition on my Jeep went out of it's normal operating position to acc position after the key was accidentally bumped. The car was in motion at the time. Steering locked up and the accelerator was disabled. And just a few days ago the same thing happened. This time my car rolled at a slow speed into another car due to lack of brakes. Luckily, no damage or injuries in that case either. I assume the recent recall for Jeep Grand Cherokees up to 2007 for the same reason will be extended to the 2008 models.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Have had nothing but problems with this Jeep. Purchased it as a certified pre-owned and it has been in the dealer for service a substantial amount. Main issue is the car does not start when I turn the key fob. Have got towed to the dealership three times with this same issue, once in may 2014, again in July 2014 and again in September 2014. Dealer cannot find solution to fix. Coincidentally, I receive a notice from Chrysler in November 2014, notice number p57 which states there is a recall on the ignition! I went for (3) weeks in may and a full month in July with a loaner! four months after I receive the recall notice, the problem is not fixed. My ''ad hoc'' solution when car does not start is to slam the door with the key in the ignition position. This seems to start the car. Pitiful that this is how I must start the car now as there seems to be nothing else I can do. . .

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

The vehicle has two chronic problems, the most severe of which is that it suddenly shifts into neutral while being driven, resulting in a sudden & dangerous loss of acceleration and maneuverability . Recovery action requires pulling off the road to shut off and re-start the engine. This problem has occurred at least twenty times, usually in damp or rainy weather conditions. Two different Jeep dealers have been unable to diagnose or fix the problem! one dealer thought replacing a module for about $900 would solve the issue but it did not. The other chronic problem is that the car sometimes will not start for no apparent reason!.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

I started the vehicle and then pulled out onto the highway. As my speed increase, the fob key clicked to the off position. Before I knew what happened I had no power and had to pull to the side. Luckily I was in the right hand lane. This has happened maybe 5-6 times so I brought it to the dealer. They could not find a problem not could they duplicate the problem. Ironically I just needed to install a new starter motor but the problem still exists and it is happening more often. Sometimes I start the car, do not even get a chance to put it into park because the fob key turns to the left into the off position. I am afraid this will eventually cause an accident.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

Wife pulled into parking lot and hit bump and engine shut down freezing steering wheel scaring wife. Happened once before. Took into dealer(Jan-'14) and was told key was too heavy and became loose in ignition causing car to shut down. (charged $106). Fall 2014, recalls started being announced for same problem(same key as we have); filed complaint to Chrysler in Nov. 2014(case #26001552) and Chrysler said our VIN not under recall. Same key/ same problem, but not under recall? they implied, if under recall might be able to credit $106 back. Currently: interested in 3 things: 1) include my vehicle under recall- very dangerous and people must be advised, if she were driving faster, could have been major accident. 2) credit back $106- dealer did nothing but tell me key is heavy. 3) current key needs replaced- I will pay for this, but will it be the same key? will it be redesigned, what should I do? thank you.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

I switched lanes to the right to make a right turn up ahead when my accelerator when into full throttle! I stepped on the brake with 1 foot and nothing happened. I then used my 2 feet and stepped as hard as I could & the engine kept getting loud and wanted to go full speed! I down shifted (my automatic vehicle) into first gear and pulled up my emergency brake and still my Jeep wouldn't stop! the engine was fighting against me. It finally started to slow down just before approaching the parked vehicle up ahead with passenger inside. I was very fortunate (this time) but nearly suffered an heart attack.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2013

I received in late June a recall notice for my vehicle, titled "safety recall n23/NHTSA 13v-175 reprogram final drive controller module. When I took my vehicle to my local Chrysler Jeep dealer's auto repair shop, they notified me that the issue is software related and they had not yet received the software patch. I took my vehicle again to them in early July, mid July, late July and early August and still they have not yet received the software patch.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

While driving my car will go into neutural, do it when I first start it, also while driving / recently it went into neutural driving in the passing lane going 65 mph.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

Jeep stalled on the freeway. I was going 65 mph on I-71 and it stalled dead in the roadway. I had to pull over after avoiding other vehicles and restart the vehicle. When it stalled, it gave no warning, simply died on the freeway and I was left with no brakes, no steering and limited drivablity. I called Chrysler and got a person by the name of judy as my case manager. She was the most clueless and incompetent person I have ever spoken with. After taking it to the dealership, it stalled again on the freeway a few days later, same thing at freeway speeds. Chrysler support is a joke. . . This issue is still going on.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2012

My Jeep turned off while driving on the highway. I had to put the Jeep in neutral and restart it. This has happened about 9 or 10 times. It happens randomly and infrequently. Not sure what the problem is but it is definitely scary when it happens. Also the key fell out of the ignition once, the car remained running.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Ignition switch does not work property; once turned off- vehicle will not start for day(s) at a time; dealership manager stated to “use caution” because the vehicle could turn off while driving, and that there is no know fix to recall p57; contacted Chrysler for a loaner vehicle, multiple times, and expressed safety concerns especially during the winter month; Chrysler is not will to give a loner, and states that the vehicle can be driven, and that a vehicle ignition switch issue "turning off" is not a safety concern, and their policy is to not give loaners for recalls; attempted to get a time from Chrysler supervisor without any luck; the dealer has failed to remedy this defect without charge and within a reasonable time. I am unable to use my vehicle while still making payments.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2008

I have just taken ownership of a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 85,000 miles on it and after a few months, the passenger side heat went out and soon afterward the driver side heat went out too. My wife and I took the Jeep up to a Jeep dealership and we were told we were going to have to pay a little over $1,000 to get it fixed. They told us the blend-door actuators went out and that it was a very common problem on Jeep Grand Cherokees ranging from 1999-2004. We are currently getting the problem fixed and are extremely upset that there has not been a recall for this very costly issue. What's even worse is the fact that if we continue to own the Jeep, we have been told to expect this problem again in roughly 50,000 miles.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2008

The car came with an ipod connector located in the glove box. This feature was not an upgrade that I purchased after I bought the car, it was a feature that came with the car. This feature was also a feature that was very important to me and one of the sole reasons I purchased this edition of the Jeep. About two after the car my entire uconnect system was in operable and so was the ipod connector. I took my car into the south bay Jeep dealer near my home located in torrance, and they resolved it. About two weeks later the uconnect system went out again. I brought it in to the local Jeep dealer and they resolved the problem. Another two weeks after the second time the uconnect system went out again. At this point I was very upset at this is a brand new car, less than two months old and I have already brought it in three times. Little did I know that I would soon be bringing my car in every two weeks to get this situation resolved. After 3 months of continuous trips to the southbay Jeep dealer they finally resolved my issue with the uconnect system. However, they have yet to resolve my issue with the ipod connector in the glove box. Since I have purchased the car I have brought it into the service dealer over 10 times to resolve this issue. Its been 10 months since I purchased the car and this feature has not worked since I bought the car. I have sought the attention of dave driscoll, service manager at southbay Jeep and he has informed me that he has done everything in his capacity to try to fix this issue. I am deeply disappointed in the Chrysler brand. The fact this issue has not been resolved after 10 months is ridiculous. I have purchased a brand new car with features that I can not use. This is not acceptable to me. This is the first time I have purchased an american car and will probably be my last. There is no reason a customer should have to take her car in over 12 times.
