The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,800.

4 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2012

Stopped at roadside stand. Tried to restart, no dashboard lights, no ignition all windows down inoperable, towed to Jeep dealer. It is a faulty wireless ignition code. The receiver in the system that checks for the correct key fob. This has the potential to put the occupants in a dangerous situation. It seems this is a nationwide problem, because the part may be in re-engineering and won't be available for 1- 2 months! one aftermarket supplier told me there are 300 of these parts on back order. Sound like a recall to me.

5 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the win module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 102,000.

6 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 50 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to start the vehicle after placing the gear shift in neutral and turning the key in the ignition. The failure was diagnosed by two dealers where the technicians were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The failure occurred while driving at different speeds intermittently. The contact stated the failure occurred approximately eight times. The vehicle was not repaired. Nhtsa campaign id number: 08v059000 (electrical system) recall could be related to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

7 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. The contact stated that the key fob did not recognize the ignition and would not start; it would also stall. The failure occurred intermittently at least four times. The vehicle would only start until the computer system rebooted. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. Updated 01/24/11 the consumer stated the fuse circuit box cover which labeled and diagramed the location of the fuse for the related electrical system had the wrong cover on it. The consumer stated it was a Dodge fox box cover. Updated 03/18/11.
