The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Within a month of owning the vehicle. The dealer replaced the heater motor, fuel pump, belts, and the air bag and check engine warning lights randomly flashed. The dealer replaced the driver side seat belt and indicated that the service engine light flashed because of the weather changes, which was not a diagnosis. The contact experienced the vehicle being difficult to start upon turning the key over. The dealer replaced and reprogrammed the keys, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
My vehicle kept stalling like it was running out of gas and I took it to the Jeep dealer. They kept my car for a week and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They told me it might be a fuel pump issue but they weren't positive so they asked me to pick up my car and keep a log. The second time it happened I took it back to the dealer and they kept my car for 5 weeks and couldn't replicate the issue. The customer service was awful. They basically told me they didn't know what was wrong and asked me to pick up my car. I picked my car up and the first day I drove it to work it left me stranded on the highway. The car started stalling out and I couldn't maintain my speed on the highway. I had the gas pushed all the way down and I was barely able to get up to 45 mph on a 65 mph highway. I had it towed to a different Jeep dealer which said it was the transmission which I had to pay to have fixed but I think it was related to the fuel pump issue and the transmission blowing up was a result of that not being fixed. The car is starting to have a knocking sound when I drive it again and I'm not convinced I won't be stranded on the side of the road again. It's completely unacceptable that when I had a problem with my Jeep I take it to the dealer and they don't know what's wrong and can't help me. If they don't know, who is supposed to know?? I feel that my children and I are unsafe in this car. It's unacceptable that a car just stalls out of nowhere on a highway and Jeep/Chrysler acted like they could care less. Like it was my problem and not theirs. They inconvenienced me for over 5 weeks and I still don't have a reliable car that I feel safe to drive. Completely unacceptable. Is it going to take someone being seriously injured or killed for Chrysler to do the right thing?.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred randomly. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics where it was diagnosed that the tipm and fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
After starting the vehicle it was observed that some of the electrical system, including radio and turn signals were not functioning. Electrical eventually came back. This occurred several other times, generally after turning the vehicle off and then re-starting all of the electrical systems came back on. Approximately 1-2 weeks after the initial electrical issue the following occurred: while driving in a parking lot at approximately 20 miles per hour the engine suddenly cut out after a "clunk" type of sound. After trying several times to restart, the vehicle did start again and drove normally. Vehicle was taken to dealership where code p0688 asd was found. The dealership recommended replacing the asd relay switch. The dealership advised that this relay switch could be the cause of the vehicle dying while driving as well. Relay was not replaced as the dealership informed me the part of on national back order. The electrical cut out occurred again on 6/21/2013 but cleared up immediately upon a vehicle restart. On 6/23/2013 while driving on a highway at approximately 60 mph the engine cut out again. The electrical was also out, leaving me with a dead vehicle and no electronics to signal. After several attempts the vehicle was restarted. I believe that possibly the electronic fuel pump was cut out due to the electrical issue. Dealership informed me that this part is on national back order, which leads me to question whether there is a larger, unreported issue with this part. If there is not a demand for it, why is it on back order, and if there is a demand, perhaps there is an ongoing issue that Chrysler/Jeep is not reporting. Chrysler is claiming that this switch is not covered under warranty.
