My airbags did not deploy and I believe my seatbelt also did not work properly. I was struck head on (front end to front end) inside a tunnel by a pickup truck (ram 3500) going appx. 40mph and my air bags did not deploy and my head hit my windshield so I’m unsure if seatbelts worked properly as I was using mine. My insurance company is storing it now for me as it is most likely totaled. My insurance is handling my property damage case, as far as I know it has not been to any dealer/mechanic and again is most likely beyond repair unfortunately. Colorado state patrol inspected both vehicles involved, I know my insurance is holding the vehicle now, I’m not sure about the other driver as I am struggling to find help with litigation. I had no warning from my car nor otherr driver, not sure if this is because I was entering the single lane tunnel. He did not use horn flash light anything like that, I laid on my horn and cut my wheel right but being in a tunnel with a wall of rock/mountain, there’s was no avoiding him.
Airbag light came on and I took it to my mechanic and he stated the the buckle attached to the seat is throwing a code which disables my passenger airbag. The part is on national back order. Is what our local dealer said and we will not be getting a part for a very long time.
There is a failure in the driver seat belt system resulting in the car not knowing if the driver is buckled. This affects the function of the airbag system in the vehicle. The sensor in the seat belt restraint buckle assembly (p/n 1gq92dx9ac) that is responsible for reporting if the buckle is fastened has failed resulting in 2 error lights on the dashboard: seat belt and airbag. When evaluating the codes stored in the ecu, I found code b1b51, "active 1st row driver seat belt sensor circuit high", was triggered. This is indicating a failure of the sensor or harness in the buckle assemble attached to the drivers seat. I am unable to source a replacement part 1gq92dx9ac since they seem to be backordered everywhere. I've contacted several dealers and parts distributers. This means my vehicle is currently stuck in an unsafe condition. I'm unsure about the affect that this failure has on the airbag system but since the airbag error light is illuminated on the dashboard, I'm worried that the system is disabled since the vehicle doesn't know if the driver is buckled. I've researched this issue on various forums and this isn't an uncommon issue. There are many posts about people trying to diagnose and repair this. This same part number is shared between the wk2 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the corresponding Dodge durango sharing the same model years. I have not brought the vehicle to a dealer to confirm my diagnosis. I'm a mechanical engineer and typically maintain and repair my own vehicles.
There has been a sporadic issue when trying to start my vehicle where it'll make an attempt to turn over and get started but it's getting stuck as if it's maybe not catching the correct amount of fuel. I've also experienced seat belt issues with my seat belt light on and beeping as if it's not on but it would already be properly buckled in. I also had an issue with my engine cooling system that was cause some sort of leak.
Seat belt light and air bag light is on and wont go off. Warning sound wont stop ringing.
Front passenger seat belt does not lock into place once buckled and does not retract when unbuckled.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front driver side seat belt became inoperable. The contact stated that whenever you try to lock the seat belt the warning indicators illuminated and the contact is unable to lock the seat belt. This was a recurring failure. The technician drove the vehicle and acknowledge that the seat belt was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. Kc.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 25 mph, the battery warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the alternator needed replacement and the part required was unavailable. Immediately after leaving the dealer and while driving approximately 35 mph, the seat belt indicator illuminated, the air conditioning and radio went off. The contact lost the steering and acceleration. The vehicle had to be towed back to the dealer. The vehicle was repaired using parts known to be included under an recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
Sudden unexpected stop avoiding hitting another car, front left and right seat safety belts failed to lock. After several test back seat safety belts also failed. Windows and door safety electrical safety lock did not operated ( 2 times replaced).
On June 2 after cleaning the car at the car wash (manually) on the way back to our home all the lights of the dashboard lit up for all services to be done and the wipers activated by themselves. The safety belts are no longer working and the lights of the car are not functional. You do not have blinkers, seat belts or brake lights. The rpm needle goes up and down randomly and the engine continues to rev up and down. The brakes feel as if they are not working to full strength, car was turned off and restarted to see if problem with dashboard still exist. Car started with the same problems, but was unable to shift into gear. Car was towed to dealership for service. The car was serviced at brigham-gill dealership (original sales dealer) on 03-June-2013 giving it back to me with the reset of all modules and deemed ok at that point. On 08-June-2013 the same exact problem happened while drivng to virginia beach. Car started same problems experienced on 03-June-2013. Car is at new jersey dealership for repairs. Car dealer in NJ noted that there was a new computer module replacement to said vehicle in January timeframe. Each time the car has this problem, you are not able to either start the vehicle or move car out of park position.
