Fuel pump relay failing after recall was reported as completed.
Chrysler made a recall on the fuel pump relay on Nov 14, 2019. On Nov 18, 2019 my vehicle completely stopped in the middle of the street and did so numerous time during the week. Luckily, I was never on the highway went it happened. I called Chrysler they informed me it was one of the vehicles in the recall, however they did not have a solution at the moment and I had to wait until Jan 2020. I could not drive a vehicle in that condition, so I took it to my mechanic. I called Chrysler to inform them of this and they said to just submit the proof of the service. However, when I did submit the proof they declined it stating Chrysler had not updated the recall and there were no parts. I should get reimbursed for the recall.
I've been waiting well over a year, names on a 'list' at various dealerships for both recalls, specifically the fuel pump. Manufacturer recall numberv62 NHTSA recall number19v-813.
Nov 14,2019, recall v62 [19v-813] was announced. It is 11 months later, with still no remedy from the manufacturer, which is ridiculous as it could "fuel pump relay failure can result in a stall condition if the vehicle is running or a no-start condition if not running. - a vehicle stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. ". . . When will the manufacturer complete the recall before people get hurt or worse. . . ?.
According to your website, a safety recall in regards to the fuel pump relay possibly failing causing a stall, was issued on Nov. 14, 2019, (recall #19v813). It has been over 4 months since the recall was issued and as of today 03/20/2020, the status remains "incomplete, remedy not available". I think Chrysler (fca us llc) has had ample time to remedy this situation and has failed to do so. The possibility that my car may stall while driving is a very unsettling feeling and it seems that this matter has been placed in a low priority status by the manufacturer.
Recall notice v-62 since 11/01/2019 fuel pump relay if bad car will stop cause a crash.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact had taken her vehicle in initially for a recall repair for the fuel pump relay. The issue occured again with cilicone contamination that caused the fuel pump relay to fail. The current recall NHTSA: 19v-813000 (electrical system) is for the same fuel pump relay and the vehicle is parked unrepaired at the home of the contact. The dealer stevens creek Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram 4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, CA 95129 (408) 248-1800 stated that they can't do anything and they have to wait to a new part. The contact learned there has been a stop sell for the vehicles. He failure mileage was 35,000. Tf.
Safety recall v62 the fuel pump relay can fail and the engine will stall while driving. The part to repair this problem has been unavailable since November 2019. This problem can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. This is a problem which makes the vehicle unusable and there is no sense of urgency in getting a replacement part to fix it.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the vehicle randomly shut off. After restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to bz motors (6801 west branch hwy, lewisburg, PA) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.
When the car is stationary it will not start when the button is pushed. The car shudders and the computer freezes. It can only start when the key is used in place of the push button. It seems as if the starter is not relaying to the fuel pump. This car underwent a big recall in March of 2017. The fuel pump, fuse box, battery and alternator were replaced. It was at the dealers for three weeks. The Jeep broke down and had smoke coming from under the hood. Unfortunately, we received the recall notice three days after the problem occurred, so we had taken it to our mechanic. Then we had to have an additional tow to the dealership. (recall r09).
There was a recall for the fuel pump relay back in 2015. Mine was replaced in April of 2016 then again in 2017, 2018, and now once again needs to be replaced. I have paid for a new one and labor and its still faulty and happens about a year later every time.
I bought the car in a different state and ever since I bought it I've had fuel pump symptoms. Car stops getting fuel to it and wants to shut off. Now it won't shift gears without shutting off, it isn't getting any fuel to it at all even though there is fuel in the gas tank. I went to get gas because my gas light came on. I shut my car off to pump gas. When I was finished I went to turn my car back on and it sputtered and shook and didn't want to stay on. I tried to put it in drive and move away from the gas pump and it wouldn't hardly move. It was real jumpy (kind of like a car out of gas) I wound up having to get it towed home. Me and my fianc looked up possible problems and found that my model of Jeep had recalls for faulty wiring for the fuel pump fuse and I want to know if there's something I can do to resolve my problem. I haven't even had my car for 6 months yet.
I had been experiencing problems with my car stalling while cranking or it would get hung up and cut right back off more than 3x numerous times so many I can't count! I called mopar service number because the first fuel pump relay call and they did absolutely told me to go to a dealership and run diagnostics which is around $200 right off the bat! this was may of 2019 here it is Nov and there is not a remedy yet or parts available! I should not have to pay and be reimbursed especially when I called way before now about the same problem as before!.
Push button start does not work. Fuel pump is not working properly to allow the vehicle to start. The vehicle has stalled out on a freeway. Will not start while stationary. I have to tap the fuel pump in order to start the vehicle.
Having issues starting the vehicle will attempt to start but will not turn over as if the fuel pump or relay is not kicking in. Vehicle was parked attempted to start has an extended crank.
Engine stalls while driving without warning. This started in November 2018 and has happened 5 times since. Have taken it to 3 different repair shops and still no resolution. There was a recall back in 2015 #15v-115 to fix the fuel pump relay which could cause this to happen. Service was done per the recall. Have an active case with Jeep (fiat) but they have been no help and keep sending us the Jeep dealer. Diagnostics have been done 3 times to no avail. This is a significant safety issue as the vehicle dies while driving and the steering locks up as well as the brakes. Each time this happens the vehicle is in motion going about 40mph. Has happened while going straight and while turning. The radio stays on and no warning lights appear on the dashboard.
The truck continues to stall while operating and does not turn over when trying to restart. This prevents a quick reaction to being stalled when slowing to enter or exit at an intersection. On most occasions, the car will not start and continues to crank when either using the push start, manual key fob, or auto start. It cannot be moved once stalled. If you attempt to restart too quickly or after several attempts, it will flood. This same issue was included in a previous recall for the fuel pump relay. However, it did not resolve the issue. The same behavior is experienced and is very dangerous. To provide history of failed recalls, the brake shield recall was corrected by two seperate recalls and was also a very dangerous safety issue that prevents driver control over the vehicle when stopping. The stalling occurs when coming to a stop or stopping, and when performing strong turns. These types of turns are done frequently at intersections with on coming traffic. It is very dangerous because you don't even have the ability to restart the vehicle to escape the danger.
The fuel pump was replaced per recall and now the new external fuel pump is completely failed and my Jeep won't start at all. Sometimes it will start and other times I will be driving down the road or highway and the vehicle will just stall and turn off on me. Someone has to do something about this.
Per recall p54 external fuel pump relay was replaced by dealer. That external relay has now failed and the vehicle stalled driving down the road. Owner was able to control vehicle and drive to road side. External relay needs to be replaced with a better design or option to prevent a crash.
Fuel pump relay recall r09 was performed in 2015. Relay that was installed during the recall failed in 2018 causing car to stall in heavy traffic and failing to start. Created a significant safety hazard as I was left sitting in the middle of a busy intersection in heavy traffic. The recall was supposed to fix this problem. Recall was not effective at solving the problem and Chrysler is now billing customers for the part and labor that the recall was supposed to fix.
While in motion at any rate of speed, vehicle will loose power to accelerate (all internal electronics are still active, however, the vehicle stalls). This has happened multiple times resulting in near crashes due to inability to accelerate to pull over. Fuel pump replaced recently in 2018, including a transmission fluid change. Multiple codes are being thrown which are broad spectrum and unable to be determined. I own this vehicle and require it for work transportation, including the transportation of children. I am terrified that it will happen again and I cannot get over in time to avoid being rear ended or worse. The date selected below is the first time this incident has occurred and continues to happen more than twice a week.
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee will crank with no start. The Jeep refuses to fire up, it will crank for long periods of time but will absolutely not start up. Could be an electrical issue or fuel pump relay or engine. Seems a lot of friends of mine are having the same issue with this very same model. Please help me with the defective car.
I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - the fuel pump will turn off from time to time while vehicle is in motion. Sometimes on the highway as I am traveling 60+ miles per hour . It was diagnosed as a fuel pump relay problem , I discovered that there was an issue and a recall with these vehicles having fuel pump relay problems. I brought it into get fixed and is still turning off while I am driving , causing a very dangerous situation!.
Car had previously had r09 / NHTSA 14v-115 completed to fix a fuel pump issue. I have had the car in twice since then and informed Jeep that it is still having the same issue. The fuel pump has randomly stopped three times since the repair and is now having intermittent no start issues. The dealership could not duplicate and claims there is no issue. We replaced the battery hoping it would solve the issue to no avail. This is a huge safety issue and I have read of multiple people having the same problem. The car restarts each time, but it is the fact that it just randomly shuts off when it wants.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to myrtle beach Chrysler Jeep located at 785 jason blvd, myrtle beach, SC where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the vehicle was remedied under NHTSA campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
While on a nearby highway the vehicle stalled out on me. I was able to get into shoulder and after, immediately after stalling out I attempted to start the car right away, it took about 4 attempts for vehicle to start up again. Took vehicle to the dealership they first diagnosed it being an issue with the key fob battery after being replaced the vehicle ran for about a week then the original problem reoccurred. This time in town in the middle of an intersection. Vehicle was not able to start and had to get vehicle towed. After taking it bake to the dealer they informed me that there was an issue with the primary and secondary fuel pumps.
In late August 2017, we began to experience intermittent failures of the fuel pump manifested by difficulty starting the engine and engine cutouts at highway speeds (I. E. , the same issues that required the r09/NHTSA 15v-115 safety recall). Within days, the engine would start at all and the car had to be towed. Ultimately, it was determined that the external fuel pump relay installed as part of the recall and the fuel pump itself were defective and had to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system), for which the fuel pump relay was replaced. Approximately two years after receiving the repair, the contact began to notice that the vehicle would crank, but failed to start. The contact would have to make several attempts to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to Chrysler fullerton (located at 1044 us route 22, east summerville, NJ, 08876; 908-722-2500) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they were unable to provide another repair. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Car stalled 2 times, towed to jim click Jeep in tucson r09. My fuel pump was replaced for $1284 at only 81,230 miles. I believe the go around fix of a cable vs replacing the computer caused my fuel pump to fail prematurely, and I could have been hit when my car stalled 2 times in motion.
On regular occasion vehicle will fail to start, occasionally vehicle will stall while driving causing lose of power steering and brake assist rendering vehicle hard to control. Fuel pump relay recall has been completed and wcm has been replaced.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the fuel pump fractured and caused a host of electrical failures in the vehicle. In addition, the contact could not accelerate and smoke came from under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Ad.
Similar to other complaints I've seen and related to the tipm / fuel pump relay in my opinion . Car cranks but fails to start , however with a little patience and re trying it occasionally works . The battery was replaced and still persisted . Then the keys were replaced and still persisted . Then the win module was replaced and still persisted until finally I couldn't get it started after several attempts . Towed to dealer and they think its fuel pump. ( but not 100% sure ) noticed intake manifold is cracked now too. ( from cranking over and over perhaps ? ) recall on the tipm resulted in them installing external fuel pump relay but my guess is the tipm is defective and the external fuel pump relay was band-aid solution . I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer . I told them to start a tech ticket with head office so the unnecessary costs don't escalate any further .
Took my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee to arrigo Chrysler Dodge Jeep for 2 recalls in September 2016 one wiring issue in the visor and one fuel pump relay. Dealer informed me recalls were remedied. December 16, 2016 I was experiencing problems starting vehicle and problems with vehicle sputtering while driving and while stopped. Took car back to arrigo to diagnose problem. Was told problem was fuel pump relay at cost of approximately $650. Expressed my concerns that although recalls were recorded as "performed" in their system, car was not properly repaired. Service advisor told me there was nothing else wrong with my vehicle and the recall actually took place June 2015. That is incorrect as I called fca and they in fact verified that in their system, recall was entered as "completed" in September 2016 at same dealer, arrigo. Called arrigo and service advisor said he re-checked the vehicle and the fuel pump relay was actually in good shape, it was serviced in September 2016. He said the reason the check engine light was on was because the software needed updated and the check engine light would be okay and the vehicle was performing "as it is designed to work" having no other problems. I hesitantly paid $75 to have the "software updated" to avoid the $150 diagnostic fee if there is no service. One hour after I paid and left the dealer the check engine light came on and the vehicle began acting exactly like it had before "servicing" at the dealer. Also later in the evening I tried starting the car and noticed the car would continue to crank without turning the vehicle on. Again, the same problem I had before I took my car in. I believe no action was taken in repairing recall issues and they are trying to make customers pay ($650 in my case) to actually make the repairs.
Check engine light fault code "p2066" appeared twice since purchased new in 2012. The first event occurred in April 2013 at 17,000 miles. Chrysler dealership replaced right and left fuel pump along with fuel level sensor under warranty. The second event occurred in may 2016 at 39,000 miles. The dealership quoted a price of $1700 for repair but after speaking to Chrysler representative the price for repair was $500. This issue mirrors the 2005 Chrysler pacifica recall NHTSA ref#06v432000 in which a p2066 fault code was generated leading to fuel pump module replacement. My understanding is that Chrysler agreed to extend the warranty to 150,000 miles as there was was a defect in the engine subframe assembly leading to corrosion in the fuel pump area.
Fuel pump relay recall notice was received last summer (approx. 6 mo. Ago), still can't get parts. The last 2 recalls for this vehicle took an extremely long time to get parts. This safety recall states that it can cause a crash! it needs to be fixed promptly or another vehicle should be provided. R09/NHTSA 15v-115.
