While driving forward my backup camera came on and would not shut off. When it did shut off, I heard this sizzling noise and the entire system went out and the check engine light came on then it went off and came back on and has been on ever since.
I've been told that in the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee's are known to have computer problems! my computer was just replaced 2 years ago and when I went to get my car serviced (oil change), I was told that the check engine light is reading codes that would suggest my computer is going out again.
Push start failed to turn on and off. Car stalled when going from remote start to start. Windshield wipers would not turn off even with car off and key removed from vehicle. Display of mph and menu disappeared.
Stationary, but upon accelerating the engine hesitates all the time. If feels like there is hesitation, somewhat, when shifting gears.
When in park. . . Pressing the start button the engine does not turn over. . . It clicks and stops on its own. I await minutes and then press the start button. . The engine starts. . . It happens every time I park for a couple of hours, and start up. I replaced a battery, but it still does it. I find myself stuck often, I done the research and have other colleagues whom have grand Jeep cherokees but year 2014. They were entitled to a recall for the same issues with their Jeep as mine. This happened November 17 2018 and November 22nd. . Once each afternoon.
While driving to work one night my Jeep started making a whining sound. I thought it was the heater since it was 12 degrees outside that night. I leave for work, get about 6 miles down the road and my Jeep starts failing. Warning lights, battery, traction control, wipers slowly go across the windshield, lights dimming. I got to a safe spot to pull over but in the process of stopping my vehicle lost all functionaloty (no breaks, power steering, lights, all electronics gone) and couldnt stop. It finally stops and I'm left with a completely dead vehicle. 12am in freezing weather while 5 months pregnant. When my boyfriend arrived to get me, he noticed a strong burning smell coming from under the hood. At this time the vehicle had sat barely out of the road in the dead of night with no hazards possible to allow other drivers to see me. We find out that there is an alternator recall on my Jeep and take it into the dealership as soon as scheduling allowed. Before alternator blew my Jeep had zero issues. They had my vehicle for 4 days and called to say my Jeep was fixed (no loaner car offered). I go up the next day, they replaced the pcm and alternator, they say nothing else. I go to start my Jeep and it cranks for about 30 seconds and starts. Never happened before. I go back inside to the dealer who has said nothing the last 2 days about my vehicle not running properly and they tell me it is my crank shaft position sensor and was not covered under the recall. And they said they couldnt promise the car would make it home and it was my problem. Unhappy with results we call Chrysler and they tell the dealership to fix that. It does not fix the problem. The problems continue and Chrysler is no longer willing to fix obvious damage from their alternator failure frying the electrical system. The dealership also told me to file a "fake" fire claim on my insurance. Still unresolved.
Leather on dashboard has separated and bubbled due to manufacturers defect. Jeep will not fix the issue stating it is "normal wear and tear" this is unacceptable on the overland trim that is supposed to be a high end trim model.
Passenger side front seat headrest deployed without warning or accident cannot get it back in place or to lock in.
Recently, car started giving me a hard time to start. When it finally turns on it would sputter and turn off after a few seconds. Some lights flicker at times. Battery is fine. The ignition is sparking but doesn't turn the car on. Sometimes car turns on with no problem and I drive it for hours and sometimes it doesn't start at all or starts and turns off right away or after 10 seconds.
Front windshield wipers would not turn off, one speed only, rear wiper not working, brights not working, had to replace a faulty total integrated power module (tipm).
Leaking power steering fluid from unknown area caused smoke from under the hood and loss of steering capabilities while in motion. Also occasional ignition switch issues that occur when pressing the start button. Starter keeps turning the engine over however the vehicle never completes the crankng cycle. Driver has to open the door then hit the start button again before starter will stop. Push cap start must then be removed and the key inserted in order to turn the engine over and crank properly.
2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to several safety recalls and parts not being available for repair. The consumer stated the vehicle had 5 recalls that exceeded a reasonable amount of time to be completed.
When pulling out of driveway, foot brake was applied but accelerator revved up and car lurched forward into traffic. . Barely avoided an accident. This is a serious safety issue. Contacted original dealer who said this was not a recall item and was dismissive. I requested that my complaint be put on file.
My Jeep has repeatedly shuttered and stalled when starting, both before and after the tipm recall was serviced. The locks also pop on and off repeatedly and won't stop. The rear tail light bulbs have had to be replaced multiple times (in excess of 4 times). There is also a long groan that happens when idling and sometimes when driving. The car has been unable to start properly and shakes violently before just completely shutting itself off without prompt. I have asked Jeep about it 3x and they have done nothing to assist other than perform the recall after making me wait several months for the parts.
Multiple episodes of extended crank without start. Also several episodes of stalling without warning while driving - 1x in drive but another time on highway at night in traffic. All episodes have happened in 2017 staring August through 'now'. Car has been to dealer service 4 x without resolution. Currently with dealer being operated with a "flight recorder" as they did experience problem but couldn't identify the mechanical source - they contacted "Chrysler" for advice. I'm lucky, I'm driving a loaner for 3 weeks now from my dealership.
I was driving on the highway and suddenly I was hit in the back of the head. At first I thought I was hit by another car but I looked around and there was no cars around. I pulled over and looked at my headrest and it exploded and hit me in the head. I called and brought my car in to Jeep who said it was the active head restraint and it is set to go off during an accident. I told them I was not in any accident. I then called Jeep directly who told me they would investigate the issue and that I should leave my car at Jeep. That was 3 week ago. All of my attempt to contact Jeep to have them rectify the issue and replace my headrest have gone no where. I have not received any call backs and every time I call them they tell me there is nothing they can do except wait until I am contacted by Jeep. This is a big safety issue as I could have run off the road an crashed.
Reference important safety recall r09/NHTSA 14v-115, it is referenced as NHTSA recall number 15v-115 in safercar. Gov. I received the safety recall notification 04/10/2015. As of today, 09/04/2015, I have not received a 2nd notification nor when talking with the dealership is there any timetable or directives to remedy the safety recall. It is described that the internal fuel pump relay may be faulty but there is no replacement at the time of notice. When is the remedy part expected to be available and when can I expect a follow-up notification of any kind?.
After driving to work 29 miles while waiting for day shift to get out so I can get a parking spot while in park with the engine running for around 15 minutes I then put it in drive with my foot pressed very hard on the break pedal the engine revs up to a very high rpms and my Jeep moves forward even though I have all my pressure on the brake and I am a male at 210 pounds. This has happened over a dozen times since I have owned this vehicle. I bought this vehicle brand new and the dealer I bought it from says they can not find anything wrong. It is going back to the dealer Monday 2/23/2015 again for this problem and to replace a shock. The last time they said all they could find was that the trany fluid was low not shure what that has to do with my problem. Anyway I really love my Jeep however this is a very dangers problem. I work at Chrysler second shift and when day shift lets out there are over 100 workers leaving and if my foot was not pressed firmly on the brake I could have hit one of them. I have the 5. 7 hemmi engine and personally I think it is a computer issue however I am not a mechanic so like I say that's just my personal thinking. The vehicle mileage I gave you is a close guess I am not able to get the exact mileage at the time I am sending this to you. Should be give or take around 100 miles. I can go a month or what ever with no problem then bam it happens. My phone number is (510) 378-3278 feel free to call me if you have any questions. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v391000 (electrical system), 14v634000 (electrical system), and 14v115000 (equipment and tires). The contact stated that the parts were not available for several months. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified of the delay. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I have taken my car to the dealership twice now for the engine stalling as I climb a hill and for it kicking into gear when sitting still with my foot still on the brake. The car jerks extremely hard to the point where you think you have been hit by another car. It also does this when switching between the first 3 gears. The first time I took it in, the dealership told me they had to adjust the computer on the engine. This did not work as I am still experiencing the same issue. I also have noticed a decrease in my mileage per gallon. I was getting 14 and am now getting 9 miles per gallon. My outlet buttons are all sticking on my dashboard and are hard to the touch to turn on. When trying to turn on one button, all buttons light up. Ie. . Parking assistance, skid control, etc. My headlights also would not turn on when driving. The only lights that worked were the high beams. This has happened to me three times while driving. The dealership states that they can not replicate the issue.
I have replaced the tail lights (4x within 12months), fog light (after one exploded and melted the housing), lights in visor (safety recall), day time running lights (6x), a sensor has quit working on the engine module that tells the engine when it is up to temperature, and the leather dash suddenly warped. My vehicle has 60,000 miles on it and already I have replaced various lights on it (the day time running lights need a trained mechanic) costing me a ton of money. The warped dash was inspected by the manager of rice Chrysler Dodge in knoxville, TN informed me that the glue allowed the dash to lift and that I would have to pay for this manufacture defect, and I just received a letter in the mail that another safety recall is being issued for the engine stalling that could cause a deadly accident. I think that my vehicle should be registered as a lemon, I have always trusted Jeep, always had Jeeps, but this one has been a costly mistake.
The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 14v115000 (equipment, tires) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Not sure of the dates. Rear view mirror electrical recall repaired. Seat on drivers side gets very hot/must turn it off. Cruise control worked randomly for awhile, now doesn't work at all. Still waiting for recall letter to let me know what to do about latest recall on vehicle stopping suddenly without warning causing a crash! it's my only vehicle and am afraid to drive it!.
Purchased this car, a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in sept 2012 brand new from the dealer. It came equipped with michelin latitude tour tires (p265/60/r18). I have only driven this car around town and have never done any off road driving. At about 20,000 miles, I noticed that the left front tire was nearly bald. The other tires were worn as well but not as bad as the left front tire. I brought this to the attention of the dealership where I purchased the car. After testing, they determined that the alignment was perfect and the air pressure in the tires was perfect. They had no explanation as to why the left front tire is nearly bald. They told me to contact michelin tires. I contacted michelin and they instructed me to take the car to an official michelin tire distributor and have the tires inspected. The inspector told me the tires are worn all around but he had no explanation as to why the left front tire is nearly bald. He said the michelin tires have a high percentage of silicon and they are subject to road heat. He went on to say that even if he filled out the substantial amount of paperwork that michelin requires, it was not likely I would get much if any money from michelin. I then checked the NHTSA website and found that "some" of the michelin latitude tour tires (p265/60/r18) had been recalled. I am registering this complaint because I believe all of these tires are defective and the nhsta needs to do a comprehensive investigation before people get in accidents.
My vehicle has 4 open recalls as listed below. I have presented it many months ago to two different Jeep dealers, dick myers, harrisonburg, va and billy bender, cumberland, MD (where I purchased it). At both dealerships, they claimed a national backlog for recall parts and that they would order them and call me. I have never heard from anyone. I suspicion that this is a financial decision by Jeep, not the dealerships. I think they are delaying, hoping to not have to make these replacements. I want to declare the Jeep a lemon due to this and force them to buy it back since they can't seem to fix it. I want the government to put some teeth in these recalls. What good are they if they are not going to be repaired? number of open recalls: 4 NHTSA recall number: 14v-154 recall date: may 16, 2014 manufacturer recall number: p14 NHTSA recall number: 14v-391 recall date: August 19, 2014 manufacturer recall number: p36 NHTSA recall number: 14v-634 recall date: December 1, 2014 manufacturer recall number: p60 NHTSA recall number: 15v-115 recall date: April 10, 2015 manufacturer recall number: r09.
In April my car started randomly not starting. It's happened 4 times and been in the shop once for this issue. It is going again Monday 6/16 for the same issue. It will randomly not start, it randomly tries to stall on me. It will randomly not respond to pushing the power button. It will randomly make a high pitched squealing noise. It is very scary when it tries to stall because I can be riding down the interstate at 65 mph when it happens or sitting still at a red light. I drive over 120 miles per day and I cannot be stranded or stall out in the middle of the road. It's going to the shop again Monday to address the issue for the second time. Makes the 5th time the car has been in the shop for various issues since I've had it less than 15 months.

Ran over small piece of metal in the sidewall of my michelin latitude touring p265/60 r18 tire and punctured large hole in the tire. Had to order another one dealer allen samuels east texas Dodge in tyler TX said there was no warranty cost me about $300 to replace the tire. Now I have been noticing that the tire I replaced as well as my other tires are slick and almost thread bare I only have 18,000 miles on these tires. I know there has been a recall on these what do I need to do to get them replaced by the tire manufacturer? I am worried about my safety as well as my passengers in the vehicle.
On multiple occasions, when the push to start button was pressed to start the vehicle the heat/air fan has automatically come on at the highest speed with the heat/air button in the off position. The vehicle has been driven as far as 20 miles before it would go off. The button has been turned on to different speeds during this incident and the speed does not change. The vehicle has been cut off and restarted with the same results. The vehicle was taken to a Jeep dealership on April 1, 2014. The fan was replaced and approximately 3 weeks later the same incurred again. It was taken back to the dealership on may 26, 2014. The service department tried for 3 hours to reproduce the incident with no avail. I was told to drive the vehicle until it re-occurred and bring it immediately to the dealership without cutting the vehicle off so the codes could be checked. If this occurred when the dealership was closed, I was instructed not to crank the vehicle again until it was being taken to the dealership and not to cut it off until a technician could get the code of error. Unknown if it has a short in the electrical system. Dealership service department has stated they do not know what is causing the fan to run without being turned on. On June 1, 2014 the incident occurred again and lasted approx 5 minutes.
