When driving highway speeds steering and maintaining control very hard. Computer keeps changing does not stay when set, has to be constantly reset. When parked and running, or over night on restart. When moving also seen things change once.
Vehicle completely shuts off while driving! while driving on a highway and down a mountain, also when driving on a local street after it had been in dealership for repairs. Is currently again at dealer service and they have said it needs a new computer. This a very frightening and dangerous experience.
This vehicle has been going dead while traveling multiple ,it has in dealer repair multiple times. Last fix was replacing computer costing over $800. Two days later it went dead while a way driving on a highway. That has happens over 6 times! we refuted paying that bill with dealer in mountain home arkansas. Car has been in my garage since that time. This has been reported to the dealer service department in mountain home and they have not responded with a plan to fix this extreme danger. Vehicle was in motion all of these times on a curving highway in hills and winding road. I am totally frightened to drive it and Jeep doesn't seem to care. I need help in resolving this.
Electrical stops working, software malfunctions of computer. Shuts off or shows service for 911 phone. Power steering doesn't work and brakes are hard and flutter.
My Jeep started with an error service shifter on the control panel shortly after that all the codes started popping up. Steering wheel, tire pressure, etc. I took it to the dealership they have replaced the body control module but unfortunately the codes have not cleared. I've had this vehicle for only two years the service department at the dealership can not pinpoint the problem on it.
About two months ago my suspension started to act up. Now my suspension is stuck completely at the lowest point. The engine has a ticking sound and now it doesnt run right.
The transmission would disengage when driving in the mountains causing sever deceleration almost killed me in traffic. The suspensions front and rear are absolutely horrendous. Suspensions makes loud screeching noises. Rear suspension is almost non existent. Rear suspension bounces sideways or rolls more sideways while driving over bumps on highway. Steering is loose. And electrion control issues as well.
While driving on the roadway and highway my vehicle will randomly kick itself into neutral and will kill the engine with no sudden warning and or warning lights that there is a problem. The battery will remain on but the engine is off. This has happened on 3 separate occasions since I purchased the vehicle in 2015 more recently this issue began in 2019. After attempting to restart the vehicle it will attempt to turn over the engine but will not start, leaving me stranded in the middle the the roadway. 50/50% chance the engine light will turn on and unknown error. The only way I have been able to move the vehicle is to remove the battery cable and let it sit for 30 minutes resetting the electrical system. Though this is a short term fix. I have contacted multiple Jeep dealers in the area and everyone I have talked to has advised me they have never seen or heard of this problem. This is a safety concern loosing all power to my vehicle while driving on the roadway and highway. I fear that this will cause a greater problem to myself and the public if the issue is not fixed. I can see a catastrophe if the problem is not fixed. I took my vehicle into a Jeep dealership to have the electrics recall problem fixed a few years ago when I was advised from Jeep unknown exact date. This is a liability and lives will be hurt including myself if this problem is overseen.
Vehicle experiences random illumination of multiple instrument cluster warning lights, loss of cluster illumination, loss of speed display, and loss of abs and esc system functions. Sometimes vehicle shifts into 3rd gear, and does not respond to shift commands. This occurs randomly, sometimes right after start-up, sometimes after a few minutes of driving.
Service 4wd illuminated on the dash. Traction control and abs lights lit up and cruise control disengaged while going down the road. The vehicle is now in the shop for an expected abs module failure.
About three days ago the light came on and I ran a code end it say it 4 wheel dr. System service got it dynastic but it didn't go off been having trouble been having trouble with this Jeep since I bought it into thousand 17 I think they sold me a lemon.
I was driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it shut off while I was driving 40 mph luckily I was in a parking lot and could slow down to the shoulder where I was then pushed away from traffic they said it was due to a short in my tippin and my fuel pump went my truck was brought brand new and barely has 50,000 miles on it and over 2000 complaints for the same thing for faulty equipment put in the vehicles from 2005 to 2014 and Chrysler does not want to be held accountable so they have not put a recall on it and it is an open lawsuit that I saw it cost me over $3000 to get this fixed and this could really have went a different way I could've been hit and killed Chrysler needs to be held accountable but I guess they won't make a recall and less someone is killed.
N58 my Jeep did something weird on 4/21/2019 dash lights came on like abs and traction control light was on in the dash but the push button light down below the heat buttons was also on. Also service 4 wheel drive was flashing on the dash along with the selector wheel on the left of the dash screen went to terrain mode all by it self. Also on the screen it chimed 4 wheel drive unavailable. I was in drive and driving straight.
Noticed when I was on the freeway steering got really wobbly thought it was because I roateted my tires however popped my hood and notice my power steering reservoir was empty filled it up and than noticed green all over my driveway.
There is a recall on esc module for 2014 cherokees built in 2013. My Jeep meets this criteria and my esc light is on. When I contact Jeep they say this is not a recall for my vehicle. Even though there are published articles stating exact issue on my model and year vehicle. To repair is almost 1k. Jeep says fix and they may reimburse later. This is unacceptable as it is a known recall on like vehicles. Nothing happened to cause the light to go on. Vehicle was operating normal and light came on. On dash.
This incident regards the t-36 recall issued by fiat/Chrysler, which involves 2012-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees (among others), and "affects vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering systems, 5. 7l or 3. 6l engines, and 160, 180, or 220 amp alternators. In those vehicles, NHTSA says that the alternator may fail without warning. " during June 2018, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (summit trim), experienced sudden alternator failure while in motion on a highway. The alternator started to smoke, and by the time I had reached my destination, there was grey smoke barreling out of the hood of my car and the battery was completely dead. The Jeep had to be towed to a nearby dealership for repairs. In addition to the alternator and battery replacment, the tensioner, idler and serpentine belt had to be replaced due to undue strain placed on them by the alternator failure. The incident that occurred matches the description of the t-36 recall. Additionally, the year, make, engine size, and amperage of the alternator all match the description given in the t-36 recall. However, the VIN number for my particular Jeep did not appear under the recall, and therefore, Jeep/Chrysler would not repair my Jeep under that particular recall. They did fix the Jeep, but at my cost (the owner). I 100% believe this an oversight by Jeep/Chrysler (or maybe NHTSA) and should be remedied immediately. I do believe there are other Jeep owners that are unaware of this issue, due to the lack of notification by Jeep/Chrysler, and will experience the same issue, which could cause an accident and lead to injury. Please review the details of my Jeep VIN and why it was not included in the t-36 recall. If this happened to my Jeep, then I imagine it will happen to others. Fortunately, I was not injured, but others could be injured who are unaware of this issue. Please contact me with any questions.
Mfg 4/1/2013, replaced bcm / 4/27/2016 after engine would not turn off. Several months later engine would not turn off. Replaced trans valve. On 5/3/2018 the bcm short circuited and alternator burned while vehicle was parked leaving strong smoke and burnt smell in cabin. Vehicle has 56,000 miles and has had bcm replaced twice in 23 months. No diagnoses availed as to why vehicle will not shut off on occasion. All routine maintenance and recalls are current.
Vehicle was parked in a parking stall at the city park. I left the vechicle to pickup tools at the parks band shelter which was about 40 feet from the parked vechicle. I returned to parked location and the vechicle was gone. I found it about 20 feet away wedged up against the park shelters pillar with a bicycle wedged underneath the vechicle. The vechicle was stopped by brick column about 4 from the playground. 3 school age boys were mere seconds from being struck by the vechicle. The vechicle never turned off as when I exited the vechicle and put it into park, the vechicle didn't shift into park as expected. The incident was caught on camera by the parks security camera. It's is terrifying to say the least. After the fact photos are included here as well.
Chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / NHTSA 17v-435 incident summary on 2018-01-21, my 2104 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalled while traveling at approximately 65mph. A crash was avoided, but the situation was highly dangerous to passengers and other drivers on the road. This incident exhibited all the symptoms and warnings from Chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / NHTSA 17v-435. (summarized below) the vehicle lost power and stalled while driving on the highway. Just prior to the stall, warnings briefly flashed in the instrument control panel. Warnings included; battery saver mode, abs system failure, suspension failure. All electronics in the vehicle exhibited bizarre behavior and could not be controlled. Additionally the speedometer continually recycled and the wipers turned on with no intervention. Complete loss of power steering and braking occurred. After the stall completed and the vehicle was stopped, a loud high-pitched ticking noise came from the engine compartment. Additionally, a pungent burning smell and smoke came from the engine compartment. The vehicle was completely disabled and unresponsive and was towed to a Jeep dealership on 2018-01-21. A claim was filled with fca us llc recall department on 2018-01-23. As of 2018-01-26, the dealer is still waiting for fca us llc recall department to respond. As of 2018-01-26, the parts are still not yet available for this recall. T36 / NHTSA 17v-435 recall summary the alternator on your vehicle may experience diode thermal fatigue failure due to cyclical loads induced by ehps. When the diodes fail, the alternator will no longer supply electrical energy to the vehicle and may lead to a vehicle stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Failed diodes may also develop a resistive short circuit that can result in heat, smoke and/or fire originating within the alternator. .
I was driving down my neighborhood street when the stability control indicator starting chiming that the system was turned off. My windshield wipers then turned on automatically and would not shut off, the headlight indicator turned as well. When I arrived home I let the Jeep sit for a little while until I restarted it. The same things happened except this time the abs brakes warning lighted up as well as the check engine light.
Recall on Jeep alternator and brake booster water shield. My complaint is the length of time in getting the parts. The alternator went out and it has been sitting at the dealership for 11 days now and parts are still not released from Chrysler. They will not give me a rental. What is a person to do? except pay 800$ and then fight Chrysler to get my money back.
The total integrated power module has begun to fail resulting in delayed or no engine turnover when ignition button is pushed while parked (although remote start on key fob works fine, battery is fine and starter is fine), driver seat moving on its own while driving on highway, headlights failing at night while driving on suburban streets, etc.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving, the steering wheel jerked inadvertently. The contact heard a screeching noise coming from the wheels and the wheels began to adjust inadvertently. Also, the windshield wipers and the blinkers malfunctioned. The traction control activated and the steering wheel started to turn without warning. The contact stated that the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to pollard Jeep (located at 5075 east pearl pkwy, boulder, CO 80301, (303) 447-8187) where it was diagnosed that the steering column control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v636000 (electronic stability control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
I received an over the air update for my vehicle, which I began to install. The installation failed, and the next time I got in my car many things were wrong, some of which are a major safety concern to me. When I place the car in reverse the backup camera should come up and the mirrors automatically redirect downwards. Since attempting to install this update, sometimes these things don't happen at all, or have a long delay (others it works as it should). Other times, the backup camera and mirrors will stay on as if I am still in reverse well after I begin driving the vehicle, which makes it impossible for me to use the side mirrors and is very distracting and dizzying seeing the backup camera while driving. Additionally, the gps has been impacted and often has me on a different road and announces a speed limit incorrectly. I can not find a way to stop the voice from announcing the speed limit while I'm driving. In addition, my bluetooth, presets and usb connection all stopped working. Again, all of this was working 100% until this update that was sent to my car. I believe the fact that this update was sent to my car unsolicited and resulted in these issues with the backup camera, mirrors, gps and speed limit confusion are all safety concerns and seem like something that would be worth reviewing for a potential recall. Fyi, I did take this to the dealership and was told my only solution was to completely replace the radio and computer at an out of pocket cost of $2,400.
"takata recall" driving to work my car made a loud whistling noise and the battery light came out. I let it sit during work and after work I started it up. I then hopped in and while driving I noticed a burning smell coming into the truck and it was smoking from the hood at a stop light. I proceeded home and the smoke was now inside the car. My baby cousin was in the car and he began coughing, that's when I looked over and noticed it was very smoky in the car. I kept driving home (the street way) rolled the window down slightly for ventilation and noticed that my parking sense light came on. At the next light, my abn light came on along with the check engine light, and several other lights. That began to scare me and I knew it wasn't just my battery. The next time I took my foot off of the brake the smoke from the hood increased as well as in the car. The windshield wipers began going crazy, and I could tell that the car wasn't letting me use the gas anymore and the wheel began to lock up. This really made me nervous because it was extremely hard to turn it. At this point im panicking and causing traffic. Pulling into a safe location, the wheel was completely locked at this point and even pushing the brake was hard. After coming to a complete stop the car wouldn't let me put it in park, then the vehicle just shut off. The smoking continued for a few minutes but I jumped out as soon as it came to a stop. Luckily I took another route home or else I would have been on the highway when this happened. I then called aaa and waited outside to get the truck towed. It took them 25 minutes to come after a 5 minute phone call requesting their services. I got my belongings out of the truck and it still smelled like burnt smoke even after waiting with the window cracked. I don't have pictures, I have videos.
My vehicle is experiencing the exact problem addressed in NHTSA reference #14v636000. I was not notified of this recall because my vehicle was manufactured in 07/13 which is outside of the recall period. I believe that my vehicle should be included in this recall. It comes on suddenly and is dangerous to drive.
My girlfriend was traveling 60 miles per hour down interstate 167 outside of puyallup, washington on Monday, December 5, 2016. Winter had finally arrived with a light snow and icy roads. While driving down the freeway the dashboard illuminated and the speedometer stopped responding. We have a very important person in my life, a mom, and a step-mom, that is traveling at the rated speed limit in potentially icy conditions and we have lost all systems to include air suspension, airbag system, anti-lock braking system (abs) , electronic braking system (ebs), traction control.
A message on the uconnect screen pop up several times a day in bright red saying the following message: 9-1-1 vehicle phone requires service please contact your dealer. When that happens the assist/ 911 emergency button on the rearview mirror lights up red and is enoperable/no longer working. The radio changes channel on its own and the clock continues to change time/ with enoperable gps system. This happens when the vehicle is stationary and in motion no matter where the location. This have been going since 2016.
The acceleration sometimes doesn't slow down even when you brake. I almost crashed onto another car.
Forward collision warning (fcw) occasionally comes on without reason in city traffic, interstates, and country roads (no traffic or obstructions nearby) and at various speeds causing a "brake" warning signal and sometimes, not always, actually causing the vehicle to brake. Related to the fcw problem is a warning signal that frequently appears that indicates the adaptive cruise control/fcw are unavailable. Vehicle has been in shop numerous times and except for one time that the dealership found a part missing, the dealership continues to indicate they cannot duplicate the problem. The problem remains on-going and has not been resolved. The date of occurance below is the most recent event with the "brake" warning.
Computer screen goes blank while car is hot, can not see anything, back camera stops working cant see anything on screen.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v636000 (electronic stability control) and 15v461000 (equipment) however stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available and indicated that it may take longer than six weeks. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. Additionally, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000. Djr.
The navigation system goes blank mid trip screen goes on and off and switches to other media. The transmission clicks from switching from park to drive or reverse. The truck makes a weird vibration noise it sounds coarse and feels weird after 20mph. All these problems have been happening since I took tthe Jeep out the dealership. I always bring it back to the dealer they say they fix it and I always bring it right back with the same exact problems.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v636000 (electronic stability control) and 14v391000 (electrical system); however, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was stated that the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I was driving and stopped at the stop sign and when I accelerated after making the stop and took a left turn on g street located on kirtland air force base my car accelerated and I lost control and when I applied the brakes nothing happened and my car proceeded to hit a parked vehicle and still the brakes did not stop the car and the only reason the car stopped was because I hit some reinforced steel cables holding something up. Four other vehicles were damages as a result of my brakes failing.
