The esc warning light came on while traveling down the highway, and I tried the fix, to turn the vehicle on and off a couple of times (it had worked when the light came on before) but it did not fix the issue.
I started my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and stepped outside to assist my son who was in the front passenger seat. Before I could walk around, from behind, the Jeep started rolling backwards, picking up speed, and hitting another parked SUV. I never understood what actually happened just "assumed" my son, accidentally, touched the gears, but wondered how/why would the Jeep move without the brake ever being depressed. Their was rear damage to my SUV and rear/front damage to the other person's car. It is now being published that both the 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee have had numerous incidents of rolling on their own--it now explains everything--my SUV did it. It was not parked on a slope, hill, or any type of incline--just a flat surface.
While travelling perfectly fine for 2 hours on an expressway, our vehicle became completely uncontrollable as the road became slightly slippery and we decreased our speed to around 45 mph. The steering wheel began shaking, the vehicle felt like it was driving itself, shimmying left and right uncontrollably. We could not correct the vehicle from slightly fishtailing even after removing pressure from accelerator and reducing speed to 5-10 mph and driving on the shoulder where there was more traction. We were totally unable to control the vehicle. We switched the select-terrain knob to "snow" to see if that helped, but it continued to be virtually uncontrollable. We were afraid to completely stop the vehicle due to all other traffic flying past us going normal speeds. The vehicle miraculously made it to a gas station right off the highway and was towed to the nearest Jeep dealer. The service department took it out for two different drives and could not replicate the problem. They hooked it up to their computer diagnostic system and could find no error codes. We also inquired if it was part of the p64 recall regarding the electronic control stability and were told no even though it seems similar to the problem that the recall addresses. This was the most terrifying experience we have ever had in a vehicle. If there had been any vehicles in our immediate vicinity at the onset of the issue, we would have been in a horrific accident. Two other similar, but less intense scenarios had happened before this one, both including the same feeling of being out of control, once on a rainy road service, and the other on an intermittently slippery road. Because this seems to be an intermittent problem and one that is a huge safety concern, we refuse to drive this vehicle on the road again.
Travelling at reduced speeds on interstate, after passing an accident (wet conditions/rain), I found the car starting to lose traction with the road. I live in southern California with potentially troubled roadways, however this was interstate 15 in san diego, and within separated carpool lanes. As I continued on cautiously at roughly 60mph due to conditions and unsure of the first occurrence, I felt the car slip, and slide, the rear end starting to drift toward edge of lane, I removed my foot from gas and allowed car to regain traction. Was forced to crawl at roughly 45mph to feel safe again. A native of oregon where rain is a routine part of life, this occurrence falls beyond the realm of expected performance. The Grand Cherokee is one of the heaviest cars on the road, making this issue perplexing. At the time of occurrence southern California was experiencing moderate rain throughout the month dispelling much credit for oil accumulation on the roadways, as is usually indicated. When I came to think about the issue I remembered a few weeks prior on a wet roadway (not raining) as I accelerated from a red light my rear tires spun, and I had to release the gas to regain traction as well. The reason I am reporting is I brought this scary incident up to a friend who also owned a newer Grand Cherokee (2013), and was appalled to hear of similar occurences. This has greatly diminished my trust in the vehicle. My own steps were to upgrade tires which are falken ziex s/tz05 side 285/40r22xl 110h, to yokohama of the same size, and report to dealer. However I am skeptical this would be a fix, as the falken tread (just 4,000miles into use) looks more than capable of dispersing water. With infrequent rain, it may be quite some time before conditions repeat themselves, and I would feel uncomfortable getting up to (again 60mph) moderate speeds.

Intermittent problem: acc/fcw not available. Says service required. Stability controls turns on and off by itself. Also driver's assist backup camera not showing lines. Next day same thing happened.
After coming to a complete stop the vehicle lunges forward. This is an intermittent issue, but appears to happen more frequently after the vehicle has been sitting for a period of time. Additionally the vehicle transmission is always trying to find a different gear (I describe this as fishing for a gear) up shifting when you want to slow down or just the opposite down shifting when you want to speed up.

January 13, 2013 Chrysler group llc. Customer center p. O. Box 21-8004 auburn hills, mi 48321 case# [xxx] to whom it may concern; below, you will find a brief synopsis of my previous and current issues with my new 2014 grand Jeep cherokee; upon immediately receiving my 2014 Jeep cherokee, I noticed that my vehicle did not drive smoothly and I had to push hard on the accelerator pedal because my rpms and mph dropped very fast and I was in traffic. After my cherokee loss power and I began to drift, and after coming to a complete stop, I started my SUV up again and I had no instrument panel. Everything was black. The performance of the vehicle deteriorated to a point where a problem was evident. Frequently, not all the time, the vehicle was very sluggish to accelerate and occasionally not responding to the gas pedal, for approximately five-ten seconds as the rpm's went down. It felt as the though, I was forcing the gas by pressing on the accelerator pedal hard. It appear that the gas was blocked from flowing because I had to press very hard to get some gas to my SUV or the vehicle was stuck in a low gear and not up-shifting. My SUV only have 893 miles on it. I called the dealer sport durst and they informed me to call Chrysler to report the issue. They were very rude especially [xxx] the general manager. Under the north carolina law, I am requesting a knew 2014 Jeep cherokee with the same options and or refund of my downpayment. I just would like to add that the dealership that I purchased my vehicle from are very rude and unprofessional towards their black customers and I will never purchase another vehicle nor will I ever have my vehicle serviced by that dealership. I look forward to working with you to resolve this issue ASAP! nc attorney general consumer affairs office information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. Every indicator on my dash was on and my speedometer didn't work. Brought it into [xxx] where the problem was not fixed. It was in the shop again 2 weeks later for the same issue and also to service the abs system. Today my check engine light is on and the car is shifting hard and hesitating, clunking as it switches gears. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. My lights outside/inside go black/no lights with no warning. Other cars flash their lights at me and all I can do is turn on overhead light, and drive very slow. Also my breaks won't work, this happened three times. I'm scarred to drive at any time after dark. My car was in shop for 37 days because they could not get parts to fix/after accident.
