The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the driver’s side headlight had become defective while in operation. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on numerous occasions and was informed that the new headlights could only illuminate vertically and not horizontally as needed. The contact then called larry h. Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram riverdale (1481 w riverdale rd, riverdale, ut 84405) to schedule an appointment to attempt to correct the failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

My Jeep left headlight and right is filling up with water and it is not draining. The right will drain when it feels like it but the left headlamp assembly has water in it for months now and its not going anywhere. This should not be happening and is a defect. Anytime it rains it happens. I can be driving or my Jeep sitting still.

4 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2020

Thos is the second time that I have to replace the driver headlight. Ihave seen multiple Jeep gc in the street with the same problem. It is a safety issue specifically when your lights are not working at night and youbare driving with your family in rural roads. Both times it happend when I started the vehicle to leave a family member home at night.

5 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

Have had repeated failures of headlight bulbs on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with bulb cost alone ~$250 per bulb. Lifetime of bulbs is far far below that of bulbs for other model cars (not Jeeps) I have owned in past and currently own. Most recent bulb failure was in April 2019.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2018

While driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee one morning while it was still dark I noticed that the drivers side head light went out and came back on intermittently. The next morning I tried again and all the lights went in and out completely. Providing a very dangerous satiation not only to me but other driver's. I made an appointment with the dealer (had to wait one week to get it in to service). They checked it out and said they needed to order a part and gave the Jeep back and would call when they had the part. When we took it back for the repairs they kept the Jeep for three weeks trying to fix the problem. Saying they could not figure out the fix after Chrysler told them to change a part in the computer system. When that did not work they contacted Chrysler and got a technician who advise that the headlights were the problem. The dealer change out the headlights and charged us $917. 88 for the repairs saying it was not covered by my extended warranty. I truly believe this is a Chrysler problem with electrical issues, wiring or computers and should be covered by Chrysler not by individual owners. This is substantiated by all the complaints for the same type of problem.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2018

Exactly four years ago I purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I also purchased the luxury ll group which includes bi-xenon hid headlights. I now have a headlight burnt out and the dealer insist its not covered under warranty. I have spoken to numerous Grand Cherokee owners and this is a common problem with a price tag of over $400. 00 to replace. There will be many Jeeps driving around with only one headlight because of this issue.

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

Don't drive a lot at night, but when I do the headlights to not illuminate well. They do not light the road more than maybe 30'. This is a serious safety issue, especially living in rural mountain area. Another person drove the vehicle at night and asked if the headlights were even on as they don't illuminate well, even worse in rain. Very disappointing that a basic component of vehicle doesn't function properly or safely.

11 Headlights problem

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the low beam headlights became inoperable without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000. The VIN was not available.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2016

My passenger side headlights went out. Thinking it was a simple blown bulb I brought it in to the dealership where I bought the Jeep less than 2 months prior. They said not only was it not a blown bulb but that my entire front light had to be rewired. Two months later the exact same thing happened to my drivers side. How is this possible on a truck less than 2 years old? and rewired would indicate faulty wiring in the first place.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Automatic headlight dimmer system - high-beam to low-beam non-operable. I believe the sensor device behind the rearview mirror is faulty.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

Since I purchased my Jeep in 2014, I have an ongoing problem with the headlights. It's very difficult to drive at night, as the headlights, even on bright are not bright enough to drive. I must use my bright lights the entire time when I have to drive at night. This is a major safety issue and I have mentioned it to the dealer whenever I have to take my car in. I've read several other complaints about this very same problem. I was considering purchasing another Jeep, but I'm afraid this problem will on any other one I may buy. If I am involved in an accident, I want to be on record about this very serious issue.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2014

Our Jeep Grand Cherokee has been has been having electrical problems. Several different electrical problems occur after which the check engine light will illuminate. Of these electrical problems the dangerous ones include: headlights shutting off, dashboard completely shutting, and vehicle shut off while in motion. We have had the following replace in our vehicle: burnt wires in our engine harness, faulty solenoid, alternator, pcm, and abs module. The issue still occurs. Purchasing the vehicle in Dec we've brought the vehicle back into the dealership for service 3-4 times. While we haven't filed for lemon law yet, Jeep promised us that they would take a look at replacing our vehicle after a number of problem. Their answer to us was to wait to see if the issue occurred again. While we may file for lemon law, we feel that it will be important that we report these issues as they are experienced by other consumers on forums across the internet.

16 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

One head light in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is obviously brighter than the other. Upon inspection of the headlights they are noticeably different. One issue after another with this vehicle !.

17 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

I took my new Jeep to the car wash and then brought it back to my shop. I was drying it off when I noticed a lot of condensation in both headlights. I immediately contacted the dealership and was told that it was a well known defect, but that there was nothing they could do. He suggested that I leave the lights on so that they would dry out. . . Updated 04-10-14.

18 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2013

The headlights retain moisture or ice on the interior areas for extended periods of time while driving and parked. This definitely blocks the light transmission through to the exterior for proper and safe driving vision. This has happened many times since the November incident and I have reported to Chrysler and the dealership, gandrud in green bay WI, every time and documented each with pictures of the exact problem. The dealer has performed the silly test that Chrysler requires: having the vehicle sit indoors heated for 20 minutes so see it the water clears. Mine did not totally clear at all however the dealer said it was within the "guidelines" of being ok by Chrysler's rules. This is ridiculous. I just purchased a highly priced vehicle and I should leave it sit in a heated garage so the lights work! I do believe cars are meant to be driven on the road in the day and night. Chrysler certainly does not care about the safety of the customer who works hard to pay for this machine that is very faulty. I have always owned a Jeep and am very disappointed in this safety issue. It must be resolved and I will keep at this until it is. I know many others have had this problem as seen on the internet. The second visibility issue is the wipers and the way the windshield defrosts. The wipers are placed so that the ice or snow when driving stays frozen and is not heated to defrost properly. I have replaced the wipers after only driving for a few days in winter weather! I could not see. That helped some but not the defrost problem as stated. It is also very hard to remove the snow and ice from the front area under the wipers. My old 1999 Jeep had none of these problems. My grandson is still driving it. Perhaps I should ask to borrow it. Certainly Chrysler engineers can do better than this.
