1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2024

My instrument cluster (where the speed, gas level, engine temperature, etc. Is displayed) had completely blacked out. It was periodically coming on. But it's not coming on at all anymore. I've taken it to the dealership, had it replaced (with a used part), had the wiring checked, also tried reprogramming the instrument cluster. Nothing has worked. There was a recall for this same exact problem, with the same exact vehicle except my vehicle was manufactured 3 months after the recall notice called for vehicle manufactured through Aug 2013 my was November 2013. I feel that my vehicle also should've been part of that recall notice.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2024

We have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5. 7l hemi engine. Today on June 14 2024, we were moving slowly in traffic on a street in linden, new jersey, and suddenly the vehicle accelerated by itself. My wife pressed on the brakes all the way to the floor but the vehicle kept jumping forward - the engine was revving and trying to move the vehicle forward while my wife was firmly pressing on the brake pedal. Because we were in stop and go traffic, the vehicle eventually lurched into the car in front of us and caused an accident. The front of our vehicle was damaged as was the rear of the car in front of us. This sudden acceleration has happened a few times in the last 3 years. During the previous instance of this sudden acceleration, on December 24, 2022 we also hit a car in stop and go traffic. The air bags deployed and we had extensive repairs done because of that. This happened another time as well. During that instance, we did not hit anything, and the only way we were able to stop the car was by switching the gearshift to the park position.

Nhtsa recall # 23v-411 (fca#66a) was performed, but did not fix the issue with lost power. Even though the recall "fix" didn't work, fca said that the proper fix wasn't covered, because the vehicle isn't under warranty. According to the dealership, the tone wheel needs replaced, and they said fca should cover the cost.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

Our car was stopped and then engine started intermittently lunging forward for no reason. Rear ended the car in front of us and had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. Jeep corp sent an independent inspector to check the car but only shared the car was drivable and didn't say there was a problem. They wouldn't share the computer findings with us or the dealer, only that is was drivable. They also wouldn't allow the dealer to see the computer while it was being tested. The car is currently parked and we bought another car. Waiting for Jeep to cover replacing parts or do something to the Jeep before it has another accident.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

When accelerating on to the highway the vehicle will not go above the speed you were entering the highway on. For example entering the highway at 40mph and trying to get to 65mph and it will not go. Have to release the foot from the gas and then reapply foot to gas pedal. Most recent occurrence the vehicle hesitated much long resulting in oncoming cars almost rear ending me and having to drive in the breakdown lane until it picked up speed.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2021

Purchased vehicle in 2014 and from the start vehicle occasionally fails to increase speed when acceleration is increased. Under 30000 miles vehicle lost power moving at very low speed. Problem diagnosed at arrigo sawgrass as powertrain control module failure. It is a risk if vehicle not responding to increased speed when needed. My research indicates that thousands of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees in an australian batch were recalled for powertrain control module fault and the failure of my vehicle under 30000 miles seems to match with these recalls and should be carefully looked at for possible recall as well.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2021

Left head cyclinder in engine cracked with coolant leaking to engine. 2011-2013 were extended on warranty for this but not the 2014 yet. To fix the 1 issue apparently requires replacing several other parts resulting in a astronomical bill. When got back from getting checked out the engine now makes a ticking sound. Also gear shift issues where the car will say in desired gear and won't go into park and stall out. The second was a recall but my VIN was not included. Gear shift issue happens at random and has left me in the middle of the street.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2020

The forward collisin control was turned on. It started beeping when no one was near me at all from any side of vehicle. Then the brakes slammed like it was preventing a rear end collisin by my vehicle. My car slid to a stop at approximately 40 miles an hour. It scared the crap out of me and I have had that safety sensor option turned to off ever since this incident.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2020

On 9/23/20 my 2014 grand Jeep cherokee accelerated on its own causing me to crash into a fountain wall. I was parking and almost at a complete stop when my car went haywire. It felt as if I got hit from behind, my dash lit up, my engine revved real loud and my car lunged forward. There was enough force to lift my front end and place it on the 2nd tier of the fountain wall. I was in a tight parking area at the hialeah gardens building department. Please google earth the parking lot to understand the parking lot and how compact it is. I had an investigation done on my car and received a very generic response via email regarding the findings and that Chrysler / Jeep were not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. Not one person has called me to discuss. Jeep is very lucky my kids were not in the car and that I didn't kill anyone or myself. Customer care has been a joke. They told me that I can request call backs but it will never happen. I have a right to know what the investigation showed on my car. My car accelerated on its own! I cannot get any response from the Chrysler / Jeep on the investigation of the little black box and how they came up with their decision. I believe they send these generic emails out to shut you up and hope nothing further comes about. They know we have no means of talking to anyone and get away with having defaulted SUV's. They get away with lying and being unobtainable. I have additional pictures if you need to see them.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

When driving on the road and coming to a stop no problem until it's needed to accelerate then the truck will hesitate. When going from a stop sign and making a left or right then Jeep will hesitate real bad and the vehicle will take awhile to get up too speed.

This vehicle has been going dead while traveling multiple ,it has in dealer repair multiple times. Last fix was replacing computer costing over $800. Two days later it went dead while a way driving on a highway. That has happens over 6 times! we refuted paying that bill with dealer in mountain home arkansas. 21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

After the mandatory emissions modification that was required on the ecodisel 3. 0 liter Dodge and Jeep vehicle, there has been a significant decrease in vehicle performance. The vehicle has lost performance in shifting, acceleration (response), fuel efficiency and overall power. This is not only performance related, but also a major safety issue as it makes it difficult to accelerate properly when making turns into oncoming traffic.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2019

Two months ago, our Jeep dealership performed the v08 recall as per the epa/doj fca ecodiesel settlement. Since then, I've experienced lack of throttle response (lag), causing unpredictable and unsafe conditions when making a left turn at an intersection.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2019

I was driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it shut off while I was driving 40 mph luckily I was in a parking lot and could slow down to the shoulder where I was then pushed away from traffic they said it was due to a short in my tippin and my fuel pump went my truck was brought brand new and barely has 50,000 miles on it and over 2000 complaints for the same thing for faulty equipment put in the vehicles from 2005 to 2014 and Chrysler does not want to be held accountable so they have not put a recall on it and it is an open lawsuit that I saw it cost me over $3000 to get this fixed and this could really have went a different way I could've been hit and killed Chrysler needs to be held accountable but I guess they won't make a recall and less someone is killed.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2019

Takata recall when I press the start button in the Jeep it hesitates to start. Sometimes have to do it couple times, then it shifts funny when you press on gas like it doesn't get enough power.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

As approaching an intersection I began to coast and place my foot on the brake. At the time I started to brake, the vehicle surged forward for 1 second. As I came closer to a stop, the vehicle surged again at which point I had to "stand" on the brake pedal to prevent me and my family from rear-ending a vehicle and going into a busy intersection.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

While going through a carwash this weekend, my car accelerated at some point after the gear was put into neutral, and hit the car in front of me. When the brushes in front of me parted I could see I was going to hit the car in front of me and tried to stop with the brakes but did not stop in time. A couple years ago while slowing towards the end of a lane with my foot on the brake it had also accelerated, causing me to almost hit another vehicle before the acceleration stopped. Periodically, but not often, when I am at a stop and then proceed my car will lurch forward as if I had floored the gas pedal, but I haven't. My husband has been with me and said not to floor it. I just give him the look and say I didn't. Yesterday, however, just hours after the car wash incident, he was driving the Jeep when he thought he experienced the same "over-acceleration" after proceeding from a stop. The car-wash attendant yesterday had accused me of not putting my car in neutral but I had pointed to my dash to show him it was in neutral. He didn't believe me but then looked at their video which was inconclusive. But something made him do a google search where he came across sudden unexpected acceleration in Jeep Grand Cherokees, at which point he apologized for basically accusing me of lying.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. The contact stated that while driving out of the parking lot, the vehicle shut off. The insufficient battery charge light illuminated. The contact stated that four days later, the technician did not complete the repairs, stating that the gear was stuck in park. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. Parts distribution disconnect for the three recalls. Fe.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2019

Complete electronic and communications failure of instrument panel from unknown electrical shortage resulting in loss of control over transmission shifting and most control switches like windshield wipers, turn signals, emergency flashers and brake warning like is on that I believe indicated no abs. Experienced this problem many times driving on I-75 in michigan and ohio. Very dangerous situation while on the road without any prior warning. Initial warning is "service shifter soon" followed by "no bus". After multiple trips to the fca dealer, root cause not identified and more fix to date. Suspect the electronic shifter malfunctioning but no help from dealer service department. Reoccuring problem for the past 9 months. Current mileage is 79,000 miles with VIN # 1c4rjfag0ec205049 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No accidents or aftermarket add on work ever. I fear for my safety driving this vehicle to florida for retirement on 1-25-2019 through 1-29-2019. Again, no resolution from golling Chrysler or from fca star case #57876853. I fear this vehicle is not reliable at this point for short or long distance driving. J. Ruwart.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The defrost and temperature will it stay constant. I can set the temp to 70. It will get super hot and minutes later it feels like the ac is on. The defrost doesn't work most of the time and will not defrost the mirrors.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The alternator light came on in the vehicle while driving, then within about 10-15 minutes the radio had no sound although the screen was still lit. Other lights then came on such as the engine light, anti-lock brakes. About 5 minutes later, I had to stop at a stop sign, when taking off again, the car would barely move. It wouldn't go above about 10-15 miles per hour, then it picked up speed but I no longer had power steering. As I pull into a parking lot to get the car off of the road, the wipers turned on (even though the switch was off). When I got into the parking spot, the car could not be put into park due to the power issues. I had to hold my foot on the brake until the engine died. Within 2-3 minutes the engine died. Everything was dead, including the power locks. Then a few minutes later the dash would light saying the ignition or accessory unit was turned on but you couldn't do anything to turn it off. Everything would then turn off again. After sitting for about 30-45 min, the car would start back up but it was not driven anywhere, we had it towed. Both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced which is what caused the issues. The alternator is under a recall for my model/year/engine type but not for my VIN. The recall was due to very similar issues, loss of steering control, loss of power.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

The vehicle stalled while crossing into a four lane highway. The vehicle would not re-start for over a minute all while disabled in oncoming traffic. The check engine line came on, the cluster display showed numerous warnings including service throttle control.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

While driving on the highway with no vehicles or obstacles in front of me, the break assist collision avoidance went off indicating an imminent collision and stopping the car. Perhaps related to the same issue, a few minutes after this incident the computer also displayed an error message stating that the automatic windshield wipers were not working properly.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2017

With the vehicle in drive and when traffic is clear release the brake and depress accelerator pedal intermittently I get the message " service electronic throttle control" at that precise moment, there is no accelerator, vehicle may move ahead slowly from an idle but that is it. When the message goes away the throttle responds normal. The last 3 times this has happened I was coasting down hill with my foot off both pedals. I have had it into the dealer ship several times. This issue has been ongoing for over 2 years now. Because I can not show them the issue, when I take it in, they do nothing.
