While using cruise control and traveling at a speed of approximately 70 miles per hour on the highway, my car accelerated on its own and ai had I had to hit the brakes. I was thankfully able to slow it down, to which the entire car shuts down. The vehicle completely shut off and would not start. I had to have it towed to Jeep and they told me it was not one, but both fuel pumps had failed. They charged me over $1700. 00. There is currently a recall for this very issue and Jeep made no attempt to fix it. I had no idea there was even a recall for this until now and this happened a few years ago.
When I attempt to accelerate quickly, the car seems to shift into neutral (although it doesn't display that it is in neutral on the screen) and will not accelerate. The engine still revs when I push the accelerator, but the car acts as if it is in neutral and the car will not accelerate. This problem has occurred several times in my vehicle, and each time I have been traveling at speeds of greater than 40 mph and it has occurred when I have attempted to accelerate quicker than normal, such as when I am merging on to the highway. I believe it is a problem with either the transmission or the computer that operates the transmission.
Jeep accelerated on its own from 40-67mph I tried to press brake to stop car but it didn't work since the Jeep kept on acceleraiting. Tried to shift to natural and ride it out but it wouldn't shift it was stuck on accelerating. Killed the engine since the brake wasn't stopping the car since it kept on trying to accelerate and since I couldn't shift to natural. Jeep has had my car for 2 days and can't find anything wrong with it and claim they have never heard of that issue which is the reason I'm reaching out here.
While vehicle was in motion on the highway the engine shut off. My wife was driving it with our 4 year old daughter in the backseat. At that time the vehicle lost power steering. She called me in a panic. I called the Jeep dealer who came and towed the vehicle in to the service department. The same thing happened while the Jeep was in the shop at California superstores in valencia, CA. They called me several times to come and pick the car up because they could not figure out what happened, but that there was not a "fix" for it. Due to concerns for my familys safety I refused to pick the car up and called Chrysler who told me not to pick the car up, that it was dangeous to drive it. The next weeki was again told to come and pick the car up, this time by both the dealer at California superstores, valencia, CA and by the corporate people at Chrysler, and told there was no fix for the problem. The car just randomly shuts off while driving it. I opened a claim withchrysler corp. About the car stalling out but have not heard back about any fix or recall. The car is unsafe to drive and I am not receiving any help from the dealer or Chrysler corp. I paid almost $38,000 for the car and do not even want to drive it or have my family in it due to the possibility that it could stall again (it has happened several times), the steering go out, and cause an accident harming us or other drivers on the roadways.

I was driving down the road today and my turns signals got stuck on again! this isn't the first time this has happened and this is not the first complaint I have filed. I have had my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee back to the dealership service department four times for this same issue. I have been told all four times that they cannot duplicate the problem. I have two videos of my turn signals getting stuck on and my dash flashing and reading the incorrect speed but the service department continues to tell me that they cannot duplicate it. Well, today there was almost an accident because of it. My turn signals got stuck on and another car pulled out in front of me and I almost hit them, they obviously thought I was turning, which I was not but yet again my turn signals were stuck on. Fca is fully aware of this issue. I have called them numerous times but they have no solution for me. I feel completely unsafe in my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is just an accident waiting to happen.
I was driving home from work on 7/5/15 and my dash started flashing. It was reading the incorrect speed and mileage and I could not get it to stop. I have contacted my Jeep dealer service department and fca about this. This is not the first time this has happened. I have been complaining about the speedometer, odometer and the dash flashing since August 2014 but everytime I have taken it in for service I have been told that they cannot duplicate the problem. Well this time I took a video of it happening. My speedometer would read my traveling 30mph then all the way down to 20mph and then all the way up to 40mph all in my 22 second video! I have no idea how fast I was really going and the flashing is very disstracting to try and drive and pay attention to the road. I have told fca for almost a year now that I do not feel my Jeep Grand Cherokee is safe and I continue to have more and more electrical problems with it even after the recalls were completed and I have yet to hear anything from them. I called and complained so much to them that they asked me to stop calling.
Transmission shifts gears irratically but not all the time. It can be a delayed shift as I'm accelerating or rough feeling shift as the transmission automatically moves through the gears. Occurs at various low end speeds (e. G. 0 - 40 / 50 mph).
My daughter was parking her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee outside of a retail store. As she slowed and pulled into a parking space, the Jeep suddenly surged forward, jumping the curb, crossing a sidewalk, going through a small grass median, and into a different area of the parking lot. The police report, oklahoma city police department report, case number 15-redacted, accurately records the “surge. ” the officer’s conclusion was driver error. Through research I have found numerous similar complaints concerning 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees. I called the service manager for the Jeep dealership where we purchased the vehicle. I told him about the accident and that when the Jeep came in for repair, I wanted the accident data preserved. He told me the only data that he could obtain was Jeep’s proprietary information, which I could not have. A representative form my insurance company is adamant that we, as the owners of the Jeep, have a right to any information captured by the Jeep’s systems. However, the insurance company had no way to obtain that information when they appraised the damage to the Jeep. I need help in obtaining the data by someone outside of Jeep who can access it, or help to compel Jeep to provide me with the information, hence this online submission. . Read more...
After backing the car out of the garage I was going to get out to go back into the house. . I put the car (I thought) in park, my foot was still on the brake. I started to remove my foot from the brake and the car slightly started forward I realized the car wasn't in park but drive and when I went to depress the brakes further to change gears and stop the forward motion the car suddenly revved the engine, squealed its tires while pealing out and accelerating at a high rate of speed back into the garage smashing into a brick wall and my dining room. The damage to the car is over $15,000 and damage to the house is approx. $9000. I know my foot was on the brake!` my face hit the steering wheel cutting my lip. The airbag did not deploy. I have two years left on the lease and I am terrified to drive it. In all of my years of driving I have never had an accident and I have always parked in a garage without incident. I have driven everything from yukons to navigators and never have I had an issue like this. I see from all the posts that I am not alone. This issue needs to be addressed before people are killed.

I was driving approximately 40 mph on w. Maple rd in troy, mi in the middle of the afternoon on February 18, 2015. There was minimal traffic on the road and no one in front of me in my lane or the lane next to me. Suddenly, my dash lit up to brake and the car started braking on it's own. It happened so quickly that I wasn't even sure what it was. It happened again about a mile down the road. Again the system applied the brakes and the warning word brake flashed on my dashboard when there was nothing near me. It happened quickly and then the car went back to normal without me doing or changing anything in the car. I brought it to the suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram dealership in troy and they said they were not able to recreate. No codes were activated in the computer and there were no service bulletins about it so there was nothing they could do. I took the car home and the same thing happened again to me five days later driving at approximately the same speed. This time the dealership kept the car longer, drove it 119 miles, used the miller tool kit to align the camera and still found nothing wrong. The following week, it happened again and I returned to the dealership. This time they replaced the front sensor and bubble aligned. The only thing that the dealership found was that on one of the test drives they couldn't get the acc system to work at all and still no reports showed up on the computer. The next test drive all systems were working, again no report on the computer of the change. The dealership still could not duplicate the problem but they thought that they fixed it. In may, it happened again. It occurred while I was merging onto the expressway traveling at 63mph. I returned the car to the same dealership and again it was returned to me without being able to diagnose or fix the problem.

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. Check engine light came on. . . Took to dealer. They flashed it . Check engine light came on again. This time the car gave me a warning that it would go into limp mode in 150 miles. Took to dealer. It is parked they say its the pre-catalytic converter and it needs to be replaced. No time line on getting part or vehicle back. This limp mode is a major danger. The service manager said there were 46 "parked" Jeeps waiting for the part. I regularly take my Jeep into the outdoors I could be stranded if the Jeep went into limp mode putting me in a dangerous situation.
On November 17th, after about 30 seconds driving forward, the car shifted from 2nd gear back to first gear. The car practically skidded to shift back to first. I was thrown forward in the car. Luckily, I wear my seatbelt. It would not shift out of first after that. The engine light came on. I had it towed to the dealership where I bought it. They said something is wrong with the transmission. They said they could not fix the transmission, but would replace the entire transmission. They said with a car this new, they do not have the knowledge to fixing the transmissions. They replaced the transmission and drove it 200 miles. They said it is fixed. I picked it up on a Monday, November 24 and drove it home. The next day, I had the problem again. When turning on 4 lane road (2 in one direction and two in another), the vehicle started to go across the intersection. It appeared to try to shift to 2nd, but the car stopped moving (like it was in neutral). I had to start blowing the horn as oncoming cars were coming at a high rate of speed. I could have killed. I immediately call the dealership. They picked the car up and drove it back to the dealership. They ran numerous tests on the car and could not duplicate the problem. They called and told me the car was ready. I have severe reservation about getting back in a vehicle that I could have been killed in and drive it away when I know, the dealership knows and Chrysler knows, they couldn’t duplicate the problem and they didn’t fix anything. So, basically, I will be driving a ticking time bomb that could blow up at any time. My wife, kids and grandkids could be in jeopardy and other drivers on the road. I paid over 50k for this vehicle, only to find myself stressed out over this fact. I cannot get back into this vehicle knowing nothing was fixed and I was almost killed.
Intermittent problem: acc/fcw not available. Says service required. Stability controls turns on and off by itself. Also driver's assist backup camera not showing lines. Next day same thing happened.

When I go to press the brakes and come to a stop, my vehicle jerks when it slows down as if its almost stuck in a gear while it downshifts which causes the vehicle to move forward while trying to slow down which can cause an accident.
Vehicle is an eco-diesel model. Engine check light came on and the vehicle abruptly lost power as we accelerated away from a stop light. Initially the vehicle would not go over 20 mph. It gradually allowed us to get up to about 50 mph, but with noticeable vibration. Then a notice displayed on the information center telling us to service the electronic speed control. Took it in the next day and the dealer said we were driving with left foot on the brake and right foot on the accelerator causing the computer to be confused. Same problem happened a second time a week later. This time it gained enough power to get us up to 40 mph and home. We then had it towed to the dealer. Not sure what they did to fix the problem but it has not happened since, however the engine check light has come on again 3 different times. Each time the dealer says that they don't know what is causing the problem. The first two times the engine check light came on the dealer said it was ok to drive until they could schedule service. The third time we asked the dealer to contact Jeep headquarters for technical support. Corporate Jeep said not to drive the vehcile with the engine light on, that it could cause serious problems. On-line research and discussion with other local owners of the same eco-diesel model suggest this is a systemic problem with potential safety issues.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was not down shifting from 3rd to 2nd to 1st. If the vehicle was shifted manually or from a complete stop the vehicle may shift. During the failure there were no warning lights illuminated. However, the parts were not available for each recall. The dealer was unaware when the parts would become available. The manufacturer was unable to provide an estimated time frame when the parts would be available. The contact had not experienced a failure.
At approximately 12:50pm, while driving in sport mode, going up a hill, I was accelerating normally at a reasonable pace after making a right-hand turn. The acceleration pedal around 30 mph disengaged from my foot and floored itself, and continued accelerating. Despite pushing on the break pedal repeatedly. I could not initially un-stick the accelerator pedal using my foot. The engine made some noise and a warning with a red light appeared on the instrument panel: "service electronic throttle". Because the breaks were not working I engaged the gear shift to turn to the vehicle from s/sport mode back to d/drive mode. I pressed the break pedal again and again, still nothing. The Jeep reached above 72-77 mph+ on that street highway. I was well beyond concerned for my own safety but for the safety of the intersection in which I was about to approach. Finally, I wedged my shoe in between the floor and the accelerator pedal (which was difficult b/c it would not budge), the pedal finally released, but there was still no immediate reaction from the engine until 1-2 complete seconds later. I could have been seriously injured, seriously hurt others, or died.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving up an incline approximately 30 mph, an unexpected increase of acceleration occurred up to 70 mph. The brake pedal was engaged numerous times however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after the contact placed their foot underneath the brake pedal. The vehicle resumed from the complete stop normally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and they were unable to duplicate or locate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 850. Js.
The vehicle abruptly braked when there was clearly no threat. This almost caused a rear end accident from the vehicle traveling behind me. And it truly upset that driver. Not a great situation. This has occurred three or four times. I asked the dealer to check with Chrysler and they tell me they can not find anything wrong with the vehicle.
When coming to a slow break, the breaks stutter and push the car forward. Additionally, the vehicle sometimes when driving at higher speeds (specifically on the freeway at about 60-70mph) engine revs high without kicking over. Furthermore, when slowing it has a hard time kicking down to the next gear. Transmission light has come on several times as well. When taking the vehicle in for service, they are unable to recognize any problems at all and can not fix.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the heated seat would activate independently and would also overheat. The contact also mentioned that whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed, a burning odor was emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. On one occasion, a technician drove the vehicle and stated that the failure occurred due to the way the contact drove the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage 11,000.
First instance: at vehicle startup, elctronic gauge cluster immediately posted "service immediately" warnings for abs, air bags, 4x4 suspension, parksense, among others. Speedometer was not operational. Unsure if blind spot monitoring was operational. Check engine light remained on. Turning off ignition, opening doors, and waiting several minutes did not clear the issue. After waiting overnight, everything was operable. At first service visit, dealer reconfigured pcm per Chrysler and returned vehicle. Second instance: approximately two weeks later, the above issue reoccured. We could not make it to the dealer and had to drive the vehicle in this condition. A few days later, the issure reoccured once more. This time, we were able to drive it to dealer. While service was closed, we asked someone to verify the condition and download codes. We contacted Jeep customer care and was assigned a case manager. At service visit, the dealer stated they were unaware of this ever happening, and I told them I had seen several cases on Jeep internet forums of an abs module being replaced. After speaking with Jeep, dealer installed new abs module. Also, we were given a rental Chrysler 300c for one day during this visit, and it failed to start the morning we had it due to an apparent electrical issue and had to be towed from our garage. Just two weeks after the Jeep had the abs module replaced, we have yet to see reoccurence. However, when I asked Chrysler case manager if all systems displayed as needing service during this issue were truly mechanically working or not, she said they "probably" were. When I questioned that response, she stated the best thing to do would be to pull over and have vehicle towed if it happened again. She would not confirm that other vehicles had a similar issue or if the abs module fix was successful in those cases.
